  1. I'll do it all pretty well on my fourplay 2011 now with 22-17/14(want to get 22-17/12). I don't like suspension, maybe fork only. But the problem is that this fourplay is just my old Element with shorter chainstay and I want to try something new and different. Also I want to fully understand how changes in geo will affect on how my bike would ride.

So what advantages and disadvantages of changing HA to 74-75 will give?

And same question about shortening chainstay (to 375 or even 364).

And also I don't know what BB rise to choose (I know only that I don't like +30 and feel a lot better on +20, but to go lower will be really-really bad for rear wheel moves, right?)

And the last one - reach? Don't know anything about it except if it's too small bike would feel like a tabouette on wheels.

  2. BB height affects only on what I said in my example or on something else?

    What HA affects on?

What chainstay affects on? Isn't shorter chainstay is always better in street-trials?

    What reach affects on?

Maybe need to say something about my riding style, so:

My riding style is pretty streety with a bit of trials and FR (I ride with brakes and brakeless). Mostly urban (but I love natural too).

Usually I just ride through the city and have fun with everything I find on my way (in one flow on speed without braking and sometimes I stay at some spot for a while).

I really love bunnyhops (on obstacles, BH gaps, BH dropgaps, "bunnysidehops", lol, don't know how to call it, BH to 180 and other) and high speed (to control my bike and overcoming obstacles on speed is so adorably). Also I love to go big in drops/dropgaps/ride some high obstacles and other scary stuff. Stuff that makes your heart beat faster. And besides all this stuff I also like trials (pedal-ups (especially to 90), pedal-kicks, pedal-punches zap taps and other) , and also brakeless trials alot.

I don't like to spent too much time on one spot and at all I very love diversity in tricks and in spots/obstacles.

  3. So, for example we are moving from fourplay 2011:

    1020 WB

    380 CS

    +20 BB

    Reach?

    73 HA

    So, what will give me:

    1) Changing WB in both ways (cons and pros)

    2) Changing CS in both ways (cons and pros)

    3) Changing BB in both ways (cons and pros)

    4) Changing Reach in both ways (cons and pros)

    5) Changing HA in both ways (cons and pros)

Maybe it would be helpful for someone else who choosing custom geo.

**For example: Higher BB = comfy on back wheel, lower BB = comfy on two. But maybe there are something not so obvious and interesting?

  4. Someone who wants to ride a bike like that, hence doing a video to show the sort of riding Ali's doing on that bike. The geo for that bike was specced to do that style of riding which is why Ali's riding that bike, not a Cleep or something like that. Also, a shop is naturally going to want to advertise that they've got a new product in, especially one that a lot of people are interested in like this. People have been asking for a fairly long time when the Arcade is going to be available (as you can see in this very thread), and TartyBikes released that video to point out they're now in stock.Companies make frames to try and appeal to riders. That's why different companies spec different geometries. Inspired made this frame to appeal to a rider who might want to do the style of riding Ali/Sean do. If they like the geometry and the frame they can buy it. If they don't, they don't have to. That's how the whole market works.

Also, if R&D, design, quality and geo don't matter, why did you get an Inspired? Why not just some super cheap shit 24" bike? I mean they're all the same, right? People putting time into trying to design something then refining that design over an extended period of time doesn't make any difference so why wouldn't you just buy the cheapest thing you could get your hands on? Why are you even bothering to run your Fourplay frame?

I ride fourplay because I want to ride right now, and because I wanted to try full-disc build PLUS I pretty much enjoyed the geo (especially with 90x35 stem). But actually I wanted to try some frame with more streety geo that will differs a lot from element(maybe Arcade or rather an Archive). I don't know would I enjoy Arcade or not, and there are no possibility to try it, even no possibility to try other streety frame, because I'm the only street-trials rider in the city and to just buy it to try is not an option, because I wouldn't be able to sell it, maybe for 30-40% of the price, and I don't like to throw money like that. And also I wanted a full-disc frame with GOOD tensioning system, without fuc...ng hangers and sprung tensioners.

At least I have full-disc now. And winter is still coming lol, so I'm still able to RIDE the street without tons of snow.

  5. Is that normal to determine which bike is more suitable for you just by looking the pictures? Especially like this one (when you clearly see geo but don't know the numbers). Few times I was 100% right in foreseeing will I like the geo of bike from picture or not (I saw a photo, rated it, then rode bike from photo and then compared my assumptions to real feelings).

  6. If you discussed anything with Mark in real life, I expect you'd get your ass handed to you at least as thoroughly as you do on here.

LOLD so hard. You want to say that Mark don't know about existing of such things as facts and will continue to arguing endless even if he's not right?

I don't see any point in arguing about frames, because there are nothing complicated about them. From RND to manufacturing and advertising with videos like "BIG COOL %RIDERNAME% RIDING AN ARCADE" with a little ADs at the end (available on %shopname% buy it, hurry! buy it and you will ride like %RIDERNAME% for sure!).

The funny thing is that COOL %RIDERNAME% can do all this stuff from his "BUY ARCADE" video on almost any streety geo. It's a rider not the bike.

I thing that was pretty GROSS - to put ads in video and to name it like that.

By the way - who is target audience of Arcade?

if you are newbie you have no skills and it's almost indifferently on which geo you will start to ride, because you know nothing about geo and what you need. If you are skilled rider you know what you want and already need a custom geo to suit your riding style or you just don't care much about geo until it's not disgusting and you feel good on many frames.

  7. Since there are a lot topics about brakes. Maybe someone know where to get a picture of comparison of different brakes? I remember I saw it somewhere (there was saints, some hopes, elixirs and others). But the most interesting I think would be comparison of BB7 vs Saints vs Hopes.

  8. But manuals ain't manuals if you are using brakes, isn't it?

I've run full BB7 with echo 180 rotors now and it feels awesome. Saints are not an option - shitty seals + leakage in winter. Maybe I'll try some hope to compare, but some guys on here told that BB7 is a lot better. And I can't find hope I want, only trial zones with standard hoses available brand new, but I want some Tech levers and braided hose.
