  1. You'll need more than just strength to go that big. Bur hur hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

Anyway, calling people 'wankers' for inoffensive, valid posts like his is harsh. True, there have been a lot of threads about CLS before, but CLS is quite impressive when you first see him so people are likely to want to comment...

I was merely commenting on the CLS post number 3123131 :S

  2. After recently seeing alot of posts about "how to set up my magura", I have decided to make a useful topic which should solve any problems to do with your brake.

Firstly make a fresh start, (if you can) if you had previous brake problems and didn't set it up correctly the pads could be worn at stupid angles causing the whole process to be a struggle and you would have wished you never messed around with it.

If your wanting to run a grind get some decent pads, I have always used Plazmatic CRM's which can be purchased from www.tartybikes.co.uk and www.cleanbikes.co.uk. These are perfect on ground rims, make a really nice noise (when set up perfect) and the wear rate is incredibly low.

When I first get a brand new pair of pads i always check the angle they have been cut, if you look carefully at a new pads you will set its slightly angled at one end and perfectly straight on the other, work out which side of the pad is angled most and put that facing forward, the direction of the wheel. This is a common mistake people dont look out for, thats why even when you have set your pads up correctly they still wear at an angle.

So you have put your pads in the right way. Loosen the TRA on the leaver.

Let your tire(s) right down so you have full accuracy of setting up your brake, this way you can see that the pad is set up to the rim from all angles.

DO NOT SQUEEZE THE BRAKE WITHOUT PRESSURE BEEN FORCED BETWEEN THE PADS

This is another mistake people tend to make and it means 1 pad will go out before the other. If your tempted to test your pistons are moving correctly placed your hands over the pads and press in hard, get a somebody to pull the leaver in for you, this way the pistons are going out at the exact same time. If you had a Monty Brake splitter you wouldn't need to do this.

Place your brakes into the clamps, I set my pads up 3mm on 1 side 4mm the other, as you will notice 1 pad will always go out before the other so it gives the other pad time to hit the rim making them hit at the same time. Make sure the pads are DEAD FLAT to the rim, not so 1 side touches before the other side.

Think of 1 side of the pads being called A and the other being called B make sure A doesnt touch before B. They both have to touch AA or BB (flat)

Tighten your clamps so you can just move the brake this way you can pression your brakes easier and when you tighten the clamp the brake won't suddenly move to an all new direction.

Once you have your brake all set up its time to ride, you will notice the performance of your rear brake may be abit poor, this is because the pads (when fresh) are covered in a coating which turns to a black dust, not to worry though boil the kettle and poor it over the rim then ride with the brake on to clean up the coating from the pads. Leave to dry naturally.

Hope this helped, its a little long I know but my brakes work amazing, and If CLS can trust me with setting his brakes up then it shoudln't be a problem for you.

    Cheers, Biff

  3. I use Pinnacle Studio 9 to edit my videos, its so simple. I have recently got my hands on Adobe Premier 6.5 which at the moment im playing around with as its a little bit more far fetched than pinnacle.

I film using a Sony Xl1 movie camera its sweet!

  4. Mine is set up as follows:

    Frame: Onza T-Pro

    Forks: Echo Easy Team

Cranks: Monty 221 X-lite With fixed cog

    Front Rim: Echo CNC

    Rear Rim: Echo CNC

    Front Hub: 05 Echo

    Rear Hub: Mini Cassette Profile

    Bars: Monty riser

    Stem: Monty 221 Ti Stem

    Tires: Rear Maxxis: Front Echo

    Pedals DMR V8's

Rid(es) like a dream, selling all the Bits off now to help do up my Pitbull.

If you set yours up to a similar set up it rides beutiful, i tried Zoo bars and it felt like a full on comp bike, so easy to throw around.

    Cheers, Biff

  5. I agree, a Hope XC is a really good buy for the money and have excellent warranty cover. Another buy would be the new Echo 06 hubs which also come in an assortment of colour check out:

    www.Selectbikes.com for the Echo hub

www.Tartybikes.co.uk for the Hope XC hub

  6. You have way too much money lol.

    Damn you.

Just pure luck, put the 05 Ti on order 1 month before the pitbull (my mum payed for it for christmas). Phoned CLS up and we was talking about stuff etc and i offered him a fair price for his 06 pitbull frame because im selling my 20inch and my 26 old bikes for these 2 new beauties.

So im sacrifising my old stuff to pay for the new stuff.

  7. So when you say £20,000.

You actually mean a very small proportion of that?

The one single best thing for Young Enterprise group is school discos. They attributed to 60% of our £1500 profit.

I am just saying that if you are doing it so you can have a fun day with all your friends, surely it's a little harsh on all the other members of the business who are just putting up money so you can have some fun.

Most of the members in our group are riders, even the girls. To be honest the feedback isnt as much as i hoped (Y) holding a comp/event might not have as big a turn out as lets say, the NBR comp held. Perhaps if i got craig and danny to pick a better spot people would turn up? somewhere a little closer?

  8. hahahaha! Right...! our Teacher said we COULD break into the £20,000 and take a very small preportion out of it if we needed the extra cash, not spend 20K on the event!!!!!! because what we are doing will take alot more than the £400 YE has given us to start with.

£175 for 40 pallets etc etc

    Ah, a teacher...effectively giving £20,000 to a bunch of 17yr olds.

    That is likely.

Have fun on your money making venture - Of course, by making I mean losing.

I wonder why Biff hasn't been validated again? (Y)

Whats your problem, if you dont want to turn up its no real loss, and im not trying to sell anything! i just wanted people to turn up.

  9. Interesting how when you want to try and make money from T-F, you're all happy and like everyone, yet the rest of the time you say it's all shit, all the members are shit, and that it is, in general, shit? Ah well :turned:

40 pallets really isn't that much. I've got 10 here, and unless it's going to be very low level, that won't cover much, especially with that many levels of difficulty.

But like everyone else said: £20K? Are you really sure about that? I've never, ever heard of any other company being offered £20K for their Y.E. company, in that like Simon pointed out it'd rape the bank you're registered with/the Y.E. overall company?

Its not actually Young Enterprise providing the 20K, its the school who is giving it to us as a loan.

quick question how is the comp going to be held e.g. jam sesion format (nass/hop idol stlye) or and uci/bui format (scored on dabs ect...) sorry if its been mentioned already :P i haven't seen it mentioned though

We are going to be holding the comp hop-idol style as opposed to scoring on dabs. If you have any input on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Biff.

  10. You should make to a school and learn some english.

Biff, it actually all sounds like you're putting a lot of thought and effort into this, so good on you. However, are you sure it's 20k? If every Young Enterprise company had access to 20k, theres a good few thousand schools about, it works out to quite a lot heh.

If you have, then fair do's. Also, you could of got sponsored by a good bikeshop, not hellfrauds. :turned: However, getting sponsored is a task in itself, so well done.

The £20,000 was offered to break into if we needed the extra cash which i think we might. Dont think everybody that the courses are going to be small 40+ pallets+pipes+cottons reels+logs is alot so we're thinking BIG! and fun obviously :P.

Edit: only had one application in via Email so far, so send some through so i have an idea of how many people are likely to turn up.

Halfords was my main priority at first, being bike mechanics is helful to have on site, also CLS and Danny Holroyd both work at Halfords so its good to have 2 well known trials riders help out and ride etc, and i know i can get in touch with them if i need them.

  11. Due to not being able to edit my original post, I'm forced to put up a new post so here goes.

I am doing this in order to know/predict the business, and to get an idea on how much I will need to be spending, and how much not to spend.

Could you please fill in the following information, copy the text once complete, then email to my hotmail account, there will be no replies to the 'interest application' just incsase you don't want your inbox clogging up (Y)
