Hey I am gonna get some disk brakes and I am wondering how much I have to spend before I can get the 1 finger strength of hs33's..
My budget is about 100 quid but I would prefer to spend a lot less..
Can anyone recommend any? would have to be equal to or stronger than hs33's though..

Ive moved and I need to cycle to where I can actually do some trials.. so what I am looking
for is a 26 or 24 inch trials bike.. with a saddle (that can be moved to a decentish height) .. and a derailleur.. just so I can get there.. and also cycle a bit
Problem is Ive been out of the loop for awhile and don't really know any... and I dont want to spend an absolute fortune, maybe a max of 500 quid, although the cheap the better..
thanks

Yeah but it can be handy.. picked up some bargains off ebay.co.uk..
Like some "Margura hidrolic breaks"..

lol, says the person who can't even spell semen correctly!!!
Seaman - character from South Park as in Sea Man.. but everyone calls him semen and has a pet sidekick, a small bird called swallow..

Okay, I'm sticking my neck out here...
Wat is up wit yur edumacation sistem, just reeding through the forems here and the speling is rubish innit

In southern Ireland theres about 15 to 25 trials riders max i think (out of a population of 4 million)

or get VLC player and open it with that.
i agree that in theory this makes trials drops look shit....however for me that isn't a 'bike' skill so much as just an amazing skill someone has learnt.
for example anyone could learn that and not really have to be good on a bike, however you have to be good on a bike to do other 'tricks', such as cranksflips, barspins, manuals, nosepicks etc...
anyway it is massivly impressive, and massive props to that guy, but i personally would always much rather see some smooth 360's and hop to manuals etc than some one off knar knar knar trick.
ive seen alot of trials vids and some very good stuff, but i've seen just about every bmx vid out there.. we;re not even on the same planet as them

Originality and Variety..
Clear, nonshaky cam, good angles, a trials move can look so much better if creatively filmed..
Good music not techno/metal crap
Can't stand awesome extreme videos
Not too much slow motion, not too much repitition
Build the tricks up, best for last

amazing
especially up the tree stump
can't stand that stupid little crossup/look at the cam that they do though, looks so corny

needs a name and password..

I think my rear brake mounts are bent outwards.. a little too much
I just got a new set of HS33's today (because the previous b brake was very weak).. and no matter
how much I adjust them I really can't get them squared off and cant get them any closer to the rim..
I looked and realised that the rear brake mounts seem to be angled outwards.. kinda bent
I have an 03 (I think) white onza T-Mag.. in fact when I look at the back stays, one seems more stuck out than the other, doesn't seem to be much symmetry back there at all..
I am a trials rookie, very new..
Just measured it now, the rear brake bolts are 10.5 cm apart from each other (measured from centre of one bolt to centre of other).. because I was thinking of buying a booster..
The brakes still feel weak.. any thoughts.. is this common on t-mags?

But trials isn't just a set of moves, it's about an ideal. We're lucky that we participate in a sport that is much younger and more open-minded than many other sports. Bikes evolve, riding styles evolve, parts evolve. Trials riders have also taken aspects of the sport and mixed it with other styles of cycling to make something new. Stephen Murray took his trials experience to the X-Games, Lenosky, Aaron Chase and others have combined it with BMX street to make something new, Canadian riders took trials into the trees and made north shore riding...
In a way trials in Britain is a lot like BMX. BMX has many disciplines - street, dirt, park, vert, flatland - but riders from one have a respect and admiration for the others. It's inclusive, not exclusive. There are some people in the trials world who have very narrow views on what trials is, and anything outside of that is some kind of abomination which should be kept at arms length. Other people view trials as an outlook or philosophy which should be pushed and expanded upon. It's an outlook of how you ride an obstacle, a goal to clean it feet up. Take it to the street, add a bit of flow, and it's still trials. There may be some things that we pull in from other aspects of sport, they may not be 'trials' but it adds variety, and that leads to new styles.
Do you ever see a bmx rider do a couple of little back hops and think 'shit trials'? Variety. It will keep things moving forward and keep it fresh.
Edit: replied to the right post
I know what you are saying but personally I think its just BMX street done on a trials bike. I guess I just watch alot of BMX street and I didn't see anything original, apart from the fact that the guy was on a trials bike (and the odd pedal kicks)
If I started riding my trials bike on ramps I dont think I could call it trials, if I stuck a pair of pegs on my trials bike and started doing some spinning and rolling tricks I dont think I could really call it trials either.
To the public, they know no different, and it looks pretty and fast and interesting..
To any BMXer, its just us trials guys doing street, and unfortunately not to the same level as they can do it.
Progression is good, but just progressing into something thats been done before, for years and years, isn't exactly something new.
This is guys mostly 'doing BMX' on a trials bike .. I've seen guys similarily 'doing trials' on a BMX.
Its always nice to expand the sport, to dabble, but every disipline earns its own name mainly through originality and to my mind BMX beat us to it on the street stakes, they've done it all before.. whereas on the pther hand we lay claim to the big gap/lurch/up static style riding, which they respect and know as trials... and so on and so forth..
-
Personally i dont like these vids..
Don;t get me wrong, some of the trials set pieces are very nice, but the bunnyhop barspinning is just hmm, I guess i just watch alot of bmx street and it isn't for me. I like my trials slow and squeaky.

thanks for all the info lads, I think i'll go with the echo booster and maybe rimjam blue's, I'm not gonna be grinding or putting tar on the rim until i get really obsessed
-
Yeah those echo boosters seem decent, will it make any difference to the braking do you think? (just on the rear) I really need one finger braking and its okay now but could be better, the hs33's are from the '02 tpro..
thanks

Hey
I am a total rookie and just got myself a second hand t-pro, first ever trials bike, the back stays seem to flex alot when I pull the brake.. so I want to get a booster but not spend much on it..
how about something like this..

I have hs-33s so will it fit? (4 bolts) remember I don't know jack so no jargon please, thanks..

I am a complete rookie from Ireland, never seen a trials rider here, never even seen or tried a mod bike ... had a stock bike that I messed about on, gave up years ago but I wanna give it a shot again and a mod bike looks so much easier to do stuff on ..
So heres my question, I am gonna order a mod bike from the UK, but I want to keep it sub £300 ... I'm 5'8 pretty lightweight and I dont ride too rough so the bike doesnt need to be super strong. I have no idea what geometry I should use either. All I really want is the lightest bike possible with 1 finger back braking...what would suit me for sub £300?... so far I've just seen Monty's on webpages for that price...
I am aware of the T-bird for an extra 20 quid and then the T-pro that everyone on this site seems to recommend ..
