    Hey,

    I live near Cambridge in St Neots, it’s to the east. I do ride there a bit. There is quite a few riders there as well. There is Wing who is a local he rides there. I think there is some others as well. Its definitely worth bringing your bike down you know you will regret it if you don’t. There is a good few things to ride there from small stuff for beginners to big stuff for the more advanced riders. I’m sure Wing and the other locals would show you round if you can get a hold of him. He is on the forum somewhere.

  2. Hiya guys! I must admit I haven't really had anything to do with trials for quite some time, but I have suddenly got the urge to start again (not that I ever progressed past "beginner" anyway...). The only trouble is my bike is 200 miles away in North Wales (I have just moved to Cambridge), and it will be quite a hassle to get it down here to say the least. Are there any regular riders down here? Is there anywhere decent to ride that doesn't involve a car trip or a long ride (darn trials bikes are soo uncomfortable!) In particular I am living in one of the colleges so it would be great to meet any fellow students!

    Same here! I have a wicked bike but only ride it for the equivalent of about an hour every two weeks! (if not less!) Kids having nice bikes doenst annoy me, I had a Cannondale when I was 11 - that I went halves on with my parents and rode for four hours everyday and all weekend. I saved for over two years every bit of money for that (including Xmas, two birthdays, £2.50 a week pocket money....)

  4. while on the subject of leesons, what the seat post size is it? :)

    IRC, they are 27.2mm, however Clive said they actually fit 27.0mm better because the tubes are thicker than they should be or something...

  5. I suffer with a sore back :(

    I have been off the bike for about three weeks and its still sore (N). I have had a sore back nearly constantly since I started trials just under a year ago. Im going to make a doctors apointment today. I just hope I dont have to give up trials, but I will if I have to for a decent back! :angry:

  6. The steel frames on sale in the UK are hand-built in the UK though, which is bound to put the price up higher than mass-produced frames from a Taiwanese factory?

    Yeah, Clive Leeson told me that if you buy 1000 or so frames from Taiwan etc you can get them for ~£25 each, thats painted and everything. So companies that do half price replacement etc still make money when someone breaks a frame!

    On the other hand he said that each Leeson frame has abour £70 of tubing, then he has to get it sprayed properly, and the logos, and all the time is takes to hand weld each one to an individuals prefered geometry...

    I did my A levels two years ago, but my girlfriend just got her results, AAA in maths, physics, chemistry, and AA in Psychology and Biology AS levels :D

    She is coming to join me at York uni in october! yay!

    i always go out with a few friends but never on my own

    Hi :)

    I have just been out on a ride by myself today! Infact, every trials ride I have ever been on since last october when I started (bar one ride) I have been by myself. I only usually go out for around an hour or so, a couple of times a week but Im not bored yet.

    Sometimes I manage to persuade my girlfriend to watch which makes things more fun, as it gives me more confidence.Today I was riding in a deserted carpark behind a building, so I dont push it for obvious reasons!

    I need to meet up with some guys off the forum and go for a group ride as I think riding by myself is definately holding me back, I should be better for the time I have been riding!

  9. Yeah machining it down is actual sounding good.

    I could do this then strip the anodising of to leave it silver.

    Whats the stuff used to take anodising off, i forgot the name of it?

    I think caustic soda takes off anodising, but I have never done this myself so it would be wise to research further before pouring it over expensive parts!

  10. Hmm I take back what I said about Heatsink Blue's being quiet, after two days of riding on a fresh grind (very sharp but fairly light) they have really started honking! Probably not the loudest ever, but loud enough to be fairly embarrassing when members of the public glare at you :$

    The music was pretty good, but Im not sure if it fits amazingly with the riding, not bad though, intense!

  12. i blead that break, the bleed is perfect. however the hose is a little kinky. as edwardio says, the fluid will expand in the heat.

    Thanks for the replies everyone, I have been on it twice today in the rain (it stopped raining each time I came in!) and its great!

    Coming back to the front brake, Im still having trouble as you may have seen in the trials chat forum, its stuck on! Each time I push the pads back the same happens two minutes later :(

    Its not as fun riding around with a Hope trial disk brake stuck on!

  13. tip for the future don't bleed a brake with out the disc or something between the pads.

    you might want to let your bike shop know that aswell the bunch of cowboys.

    Yeah I wont be taking my bike there again in a hurry, but seeing as I already paid to have my brake serviced they will have to sort it!

    Whenever I take my bike anywhere without the front wheel I sellotape a 2p coin between the pads normally,

  14. Too much fluid? Take the resevoir cap off and take a little oil out by soaking it up with a rag. You'll only need to take a tiny bit out and make sure it's kept perfectly level when you do it.

    Eeeek that sounds a bit scary for someone as clumsy as me! The brake was just bled by the bike shop so maybe Ill get them to do it for free as they shouldnt have put too much in should they (N)

    Ill give them a ring tomoz unless anyone else has suggestions?

    Thanks for that idea though, maybe I will do it tommorow depending on what the bikeshop say, I guess ringing hope in the morning would be a good idea also.

    Right well I tried that, and sure enough one of the pistons wiggled back about 1mm to where it should be. I put the wheel on, turned the bike over and pumped the brake. The first few pumps pulled to the bars, and then it went really really firm and the brake is clamped on again. When I pull the lever I can only see one pad move the other must be pressed up tight against the disk, a stuck piston? I just wriggled it back again, but its not easy to do, could this be due to new seals?

  16. The pads just stick out too much... try to push them in, with a knife or whatever. Next time put a small piece of plastic or whatever between the pads, when the wheel is taken off or the brake needs a bleed...

  17. Hello, well my second bike maintenence thread of the day (N)

    I had my lbs bleed and put new seals on my front Hope mono trial. I assumed that it would be as easy to put back on as it was too take off, but obviously not. The front wheel can hardly move at all, the brake seems to be permanantly on? I put the spacer/washer back where it was originally..

    The only thing I can think of is that when changing the seals the shop took the pads off and put them on the other way around or something?

    Any ideas of how to sort this,
