  1. If this is turning into the t-f urbex thread, this is my best conquest/ on going project...

The worlds' first iron framed building, the predecessor of the skyscraper.

I've been round all of it except the big tower, been foiled every time there :( Still determined to get to the top one day, security seems to have been stepped up recently though. It's an amazingly interesting building, there's loads of smaller buildings surrounding it too. It's currently covered in scaffold, and has been for a few years.

  2. Among other things I run webuyanycycle.com, so I get a lot of bikes off here. I mainy ride Wellington in Telford.

Has anyone ridden the Stipe stones (sp?)? My mates gf's parents said they were 'like moon rocks' which possibly = trials mecca?

Bigman went with Rob Clarke and said it was disappointing.

  3. Yeah mate bassed there, aint it a lovely place. im riding an echo hifi at the minute im just getting back into biketrials after being out for a while i also dabble in mototrials as well. i have a few sections set up in one of the hangers in work with pallets but like i said its getting a bit boring now. what you riding

I was gonna say you should set something up in the base...

I have more trials bikes than you can shake a stick at 'cos of my business, but i've just swiched my main ride from a koxx vinco to this beauty...

  4. I dont have an msn account mate im just trying to find people in my area to ride with as its getting boring on my own cheers. Is there much of a scene in stoke

Yeah there seems to be quite a few riders there, including a world class one, Danny Butler. If you have a search around on the forum i'd imagine there's some stuff about stoke. What bike do you have? I'm assuming you're based at Ternhill, I used to be part of the RAF gliding squadron on the airfield there, worst job ever

  5. Hi everyone. Does anyone know of any good riding spots in north shropshire, or any clubs or groups in my area

Shropshire's not ideal for riding, there's not much... Telford and Shrewsbury have a bit. I've never spotted much in market drayton, though i've never ridden there.

You might have more luck further north than shropshire, Stoke is pretty good from what I hear.

Add me to msn if you like, address is on my profile.

  6. I guess people aren't really building houses at the moment though? My house is two years old and the site is still half finished 'cos they've just abandoned it, and there's loads of other abandoned building sites in the area too.

There's some caves dug out of sandstone near Cosford that supposedly have devily rituals in sometimes, shall go have a look in the day sometime. There used to be some creepy abandoned mansions round here we went in as kids, however Charles Church came and restored them all  About as scary as it got in them was when we opened a door into a big room lit only by the light coming through the roof tiles and some massive bat/ bird thing flew at us... We ran, fast!

I live next to an old mining part of Telford where the land is insanely undulating as a result of old mounds/ excavations, and for centuries it was used by squatters as the absentee landlord didn't really care. When they built telford in the 60s they demolished most of the ramshackle cottages, and now there's lots of camouflaged caravans hidden there down little valleys and in old mine buidings, takes you by surprise when you suddenly realise you're next to one... Never actually met anyone near them (The ones i've spotted anyway...) but i'm sure some weird shit goes on down there at night, probably just typical gyppo activity though rather than a satanic cult

  7. Nothing, I'll try again (re submit) just incase i did some tihng wrong last time.

Did you read my post, lol? As much as I'd love to be able to, I can't value 40 bikes and email the owners simultaneously :P You probably need a better spec anyway, it didn't look remotely comprehensive on my skim read. I'll email you in a second.

  8. But it would be a hard bike to sell, to the right person it would be worth allot.

Yeah, I can't remember what I offered but I'm sure it was pretty low, I saw that they were valuable but not selling anywhere I looked. I can't afford to spend £500 on a bike and keep it for ages in the hope of getting a high price for it, that'd be financial suicide. I've got about 20 bmxs I need to work out prices for at the moment >_<

  9. Do it! If it's where you did a lot of training then you'll probably piss all over without the burgens and other kit you'd have been carrying. Plus I'd be much more inclined to do it to see how I'd fare up in comparison (Y)

Haha, I'd better get training considering I haven't run very much at all for the past 6 months!

A friend of mine was 33rd in this year's london marathon until the 20 mile point when his feet shat the bed, i'll see if he's interested too...

I'm pretty sure you would be able to beat me though, I am pretty bad at self motivation on longish runs, and afterall I was only a 'Bandie' as we were constantly told by the instructors

  10. Oh my god, Longmoor... That's where most of my Marine training was done. I f**king hate that place!!! There are some very steep slopes (That we were made to run up, and down, and up, and down, etc...) but on the whole it's not tooo bad, no actual big hills as far as I can remember.

I'll have a think about it, it sounds like fun, kinda.

  11. got offered £300 pick up too

pretty bad but i spose you've gotta make a profit somewhere

It's only pretty bad considering you're not one of the three categories of people who the service is aimed at  That was a highball offer too, if you try to sell your bike some time in the future you'll discover that £300 with no waiting to find a buyer is actually quite a good offer.

Like i've said before, you probably won't like the offer unless you've already tried selling your bike and realised how hard it is to get a buyer at the moment or want to pay a premium for good service.

  12. Surely if you're not sure about something/don't want it/whatever, you just offer a pitifully low price? That way you keep your "guarantee" but don't get into something you're not comfortable with?

But then you get people whinging about offers and starting topics on forums about it :P So I'd rather say we don't do whatever rather than getting a reputation for taking the mick. But yeah, that power is there and has been used already...

  13. Well for a start, I know nothing about the values of bmxs, and have no trusted friends that do, so without a very steep learning curve to learn about a very different type of bike valuations are gonna be a pain. Also I'm building a large stockpile of spare parts, and bmx components are totally different, and the stockpile is something quite important to the business plan. Right now I'm far more interested in moving into the xc/ dh markets, and bearing in mind webuyanycycle is not the only thing I'm working on day to day I need to stick to what I and my valuers know to start with. Perhaps I'm missing a huge opportunity but heh... I'll certainly try and research the used bmx market when I can, however I still have more reservations about them that I'd need to address before I plough my money into them.

  14. Do you want to make me an offer then, Adam?

At this time of night?! I work 9-7 solid, anything outside of that is a bonus :P

I'll have a think tomorrow, I need to do some research.

It's highly likely that there's gonna be a "we don't guarantee to buy bmxs" addition in the not too distant future, might be temporary, might be permanent, there's a huge list of reasons why which i'm not going into on here...
