  1. Thanks guys, appreciate the help. Still totally undecided! JMCD, I live in Northern Ireland so unfortunately wouldn't be about to take you up on your offer. Thanks though!
  2. Hi guys I've been registered here for years but haven't posted since I first thought about moving to trials! A lot has happened since then… finished uni, worked as an engineer, started career in photography, got married etc etc. Basically, my core strength and fitness is severely lacking as I'm often spending days upon days behind a computer. I've been a keen MTBer and BMXer for years, but never get the chance to ride MTB anymore. I think trials will be a great way of busting stress and building my core again without spending time in a gym. I'm unsure whether I should go 24" or 20". Basically, I'll be buying new (budget £1k), and have the following two in mind: http://www.tartybike.../c50p11568.html http://www.tartybike.../c10p11565.html I'm 5' 9", so the size of the mod concerns me slightly. Will it be comfortable? Should I learn on mod as it's much more beginner friendly? Any advice appreciated. I have tried searching, but could only find "mi budgets like £300 mate & i wud luv a new bike" type posts Thanks!
  3. I'll be honest, I'm new to all this trials stuff. I've been MTBing for 11 years though, so bikes are well in my blood. I want to start trials, and given that I'm in a good job etc, I'm prepared to spend decent money on a Curtis. It'd be a mix of street trials and natural, not really biased towards either one. I've always like the T24, but since I wish to do natural trials, would I be better sticking with the T1 instead? I know this wheel debate may cause arguments!
  4. If i was going down the custom route, the curtis would be taken over the leeson. curtis are just a real brand with real history, want to support that. money isn't (and is, if you get me) an object really, have the money for the full build already. is the revell a poor looking frame in the flesh?
  5. Buying a street trials frame, not fussed on 24 or 26 in wheels. Either £200 revell stock, or should i go custom for a nice £550 Curtis t24...? does the revell suit street trials at all?
  6. Heyho, Basically I cam every close to ordering a Curtis T24 this afternoon, until I decided to look over the IOLO bikes site once more. I really need to know if a frame built there will be just as good, if not better than the T24. I am needing BMX spaced rear end, 14mm slots (I want to run pegs occasionally), 22 inch TT, 15 inch back end, MTB BB, and run a slammed seat. Both companies can make what I want, and I'm not scared of paying for a curtis. I basically want the perfect street trials 24inch frame. Discuss... (please) Cheers guys.
  7. you really do need to lace the whole wheel before you can get a correct view on too long/short. i know when i build wheels and maybe have only half the spokes in, some seem far too short, and others far too long, until i add at least one full side of spokes in
  8. i had a long chat tonight with her and i think ill give it a go. it's certainly not an attempt to get me to propose as we both dont want it till way after our careers are in full swing. it's crazy, but it may help us to enjoy the time together a bit more, as generally im horny 24/7 and perhaps i pissed her off by CONSTANTLY needing lovin. And it's not a test to see how muh i love her etc as she knows im 100% dedicated.
  9. head frying. I just don't know what the hell is going to happen now. Thanks for the support guys, and I may keep you updated with developments.
  10. So beige, not wanting to pry, but you have a no sexual activity relationship, like just kissing no further? Perhaps I'm being a bit immature by not accepting what would be a fulfilling companionship with her.
  11. haha, no, she's proper horny when the painters are in, so I get all the pleasure for no work. But then it crashes the minute she's back to normal
  12. When she gets on the horn she tends to lose all sense of logic, but then regrets afterwards (which she only told me tonight, that she regretted every time, EVER). So she has decided to not get caught up in it anymore.
  13. oh yeah, kissing, but nothing more full on. It's crap as she has an ass to die for and I'm massively attracted to her sexually.
  14. religion, yes. She always has been religious but recently started changing (since she hit 21) and in my head seems to be going a little crazy. Her parents put mad pressure on her to perform at uni, and are super strict. They also detest me. I have spoken to her mum once in 3 years (true) and been inside their house once since easter 05. I told her exactly how I feel, but not in a cross way. I love her like crazy, i'd be seriously gutted without her, but do I REALLY want to sign my life away like this at 22?!
  15. she's talking long term, like we are 22 but marriage (in both our minds) is not on cards until at least 26-27, which is a LONG way away. This is like a kick in the bloody face.
  16. This has made me crazy. My girlfriend of 4 years has decided she wants to full abstain from sexual contact until marriage. Her mind is fully set, and I don't think I could bare this considering I'm only 22. I love her to bits, and don't want to loose her, but this is crazy. I'm sorry if this is not appropriate, but I needed to get this off my chest, and cannot mention it to close friends for obvious reasons.
  17. i was the one who put that pic on pinkbike! i emailed 24seven about the frame as i was expecting some kind of steel street-trials frame from them given their background, but no.
  18. bit it is not the equivalent of running 20/19 but with a fat rear tyre? 26/24 with a fat rear tyre on the 24?
  19. a fatter tyre on the rar would help compensate, and no matter what DMR have said, trailblades are too short for this frame!
  20. get down your local halfords. pick up some paint stripper, £5 for a tin that will do 3 frames (i have with mine) nitromors or something. then, go to the cycle department and buy chrome polish (will be hanging along with the muc-off etc). this works on aluminium. £4. jobs a good un
  21. me again so, my 24 inch street bike, running trailblades at front, so obviosuly can't run v-brakes on the 24inch front. so, instead of buying the base trials forks with adjustable mounts, should i run a 26 inch front, and 24 rear? it would also allow me to run a fat 2.5 rear tyre, and then a thinner front. i've used 26/24 before and seemed fine with it, but will it be awful for street-trials?
  22. our halfords certainly dont sell headset races on their own (if you are talking about crown race), espeially since they differ for basially EVERY headset. so personally i think you were asking for a stupid item. why would one store stock spares for every little item on a bike?
  23. i also work in halfords (part time), and with the exception of one cycle staf member, our whole team are really into bikes, and know a lot. if you think, halfords has over 300 stores nationwide, with maybe 8 cycle staff per store. of course they cant be 2400 bike-friendly staff members.
  24. I'm refering to the ones in the link below. I know Jon Shrewsbury used them on his Ashton, and he went big, so I assume they are strong? http://www.bikedock.com/posit/shop/product...2Fposit%2Fshop% they are only 1cm shorter than my trailblades so will not chnage geometry drastically, but will allow me to get a feel for street trials with two brakes...and maybe I can buy a leeson if i get hooked. im running 24s hence fork choice... what y'all think?
