  1. 06 Pythons were fragile if you rode them too hard. It was a small design fault rather than 'unlucky manufacturing error'. They always cracked at the same spot.

09s are fragile too because they are made of 6061 and overall isn't too great a design. My mate cracked the bashplate mount weld on the downtube and cracked the inbuilt booster too.

But pretty much every frame will crack at the brake mounts if u dont run a booster

  2. So after searching around, it seems there is one major difference between the RK and DK:

    RK- steel bead

    DK- folding kevlar bead.

at least according to the Tartybikes description. So how different does this make the tyres feel to ride on? Unless , is it possible to get both in either steel or kevlar bead?

  3. Time for me to get a new tyre and I'm stuck between the two. Both are awesome from what I've heard but like apples and oranges there is a difference. So which tyre feels better for natural? What about general urban terrain? Wet obstacles?

I'm guessing the only real difference between the DK and RK is the tread pattern right?

    Suggestions and recommendations?

    Thanks :)

  4. Lol, yeah :giggle:

But then again, you're paying for something that's 100% made in the USA in-house with top quality Japanese bearings. I don't think there are many other brands in BMX and certainly not trials that can boast that. Plus it looks super nice.

TAIWAN-made stuff can be super good, but in the case of Profile you're paying for something that isn't mass-produced by work monkeys for dirt.

  5. If you run an ENO you run a major risk of stripping all the threads off your crankarm since the thread pitch is a little different. That being said, wait for an Echo SL. They are the best for a reason.

  6. No, there realy are big differences between those frames, the Hifi was a horrid frame, All the old echo frames were 375mm chainstays, all new high BB frames such as the koxx, rockman etc are 380mm approximately as this is how it turns out when running the 18-15 gear ratio. It is hard to explain, but i have ridden almost all the old high BB deng frames and hated all of them, but the new breed of high BB frames are alot better. Although one difference would also be that people are now running better (Higher) front end setups (bars/stems) with the frames now, which makes a HUGE difference.

Even with the high bar and stem, the deng frames are still way to rear wheel friendly, and don't seem to ride right.

But does 5mm actually make that huge a difference? I mean, just looking at it on a ruler. It's like nothing. I measured a mate's old GU to have 379 stays. So knowing that the stays and BB heights are more or less the same as 2010's high BB frames, what makes them so inferior? A lot of them also have the same front reach/wheelbase and headangle too

by the way, what is 2010's popular stem size and size of stackers for +55 and +60 frames?

I recall back when high BBs first came out in truck loads everyone thought things like 145x25, and other mod stems were good. Maybe they were toooo long for a stock?

Do longer stems feel more suited for higher bb stocks than lower bb? cos i seem to see tiny stems on lower bb stocks like 100/110x10

  7. Bigman, in one of my topics about Echo Hifis, you were quoted by someone as saying: "the hifi is nice on the rear wheel but its geometry ultimately holds you back from progressing'... or something similar along those lines. I'm not trying to be a cynical critical arse, but I just find it really odd how so many experienced riders, such as yourself, Ali C, and so on don't really like how the old Deng high BB frames rode... yet they are geometrically identical to the Kortz. and many many other modern frames like the Koxx Skys just to name a few.

1085ish wb, either +55/60 bb rise, and 375/380 stays. ....

Could it just be because you guys before were harshly judging high BB frames back in 05/06 due to most people not knowing the ideal bar/stem setup for them?

  8. Looking good.

What I find a bit illogical and biased is how so many cynical people bash old high BB frames like the 2006 Adamants, Czars, Pitbulls, and Hifis, .... they all have like 375/380mm stays and +55/+60 mm bb rise, with approx 1080/1090 wheelbase... with headangles of 71.5 averagely.

.... Yet people praise newer more 'trendy' 'keeping with the times' frames like Ozonys, TMS, Koxx Sky frames, and Rockmans (not saying they're bad at all!) saying how lovely they ride. Yet.... a lot of them have the SAME BB height as the 2006 Deng frames and same stay lengths and the front reach too. So where's the logic? On another note, I don't hear anyone bashing the new blue GUs and they have 375 stays and +60...?

Just something I find really weird. I wonder if Ali C in particular likes Koxx Skys and Rockmans?

  9. Sorry to resurrect this old topic, but wondering if anyone can help add their insight into this.

    Danny B? Hugh B?

A guy might sell me his but he can't tell if it's 0 or +10 (as physically it looks so subtle from the side). He says it comes out as +5mm or something.... Maybe it's to do with what headset or fork you run?

    Cheers
