Thanks, I will look into an eBay brake booster... Also the frame doesn't have many mountings for thr brake cable, so my outer cable is all one-piece; will this affect things?

I feel I take too many risks as I rarely use a lock, albeit only leaving my bike outside the local post office or newsagent. When we ride to the pub I use a lock, although just some old cheap crap I found in my garage :$

I cannot get my rear LX V brake set up nicely on my Pashley - is it just that the rear stays are too flexy? I've never had this problem before. Setting up a brake is a 1 minute job
