I'd definitely say take her to a shop and watch them do it, so that you can do it next time.

My gf fell off, bust her knee open, i couldnt stop laughin, it was kinda funny, then got her pants caught in the chain, was even funnier. she wont ride mybike now

They just lock on to the bars , With a alan key
But if you had Random Grips you would have to slide them off
using water Etc
But with lock ons Just loosen it Get it off
