  1. Placed an order on Sunday, it was a special offer so i just couldn't help it!

Old english White 4.5 optional Copper steels. I only paid £25 each for them but was a little unconvinced by them.

    Then I tried them on.

It is so pleasing how close these hug the 7.5's! I am well chuffed, can't wait to get some rubber on them and get them all set up!

They fit inside my old 13"s

  2. Well I was having a bit of a read this morning on that very subject.

I read a few build threads, all on the CG13, one was running 1000cc bike carbs, aftermarket manifold and a Megajolt management running something in the region of 100bhp. Another was somewhat of a ghetto build running a low pressure turbo, T15 or something I think It may have been with stacked gaskets, That was making 120-130. The third build I read was another turbo build in a SR motor from France. This seemed to be built with a Galanza manifold a Decat mated to a CG flange, this was making 170PS, what ever that converts to in BHP.

To be honest I think I might just stick a B18 in there, i have considered a A+ turbo, but the costs compared to the gains is sort of putting me off. I will have long enough to think of a decent plan.

  3. It is just a 998... out of a Nissan :giggle:

Which is surprisingly a lot more fun than it sounds, currently making 78bhp which compared to my old 998 City E is some what impressive.

The alternator bugs the hell out of me, I have learnt that smaller alternators out of cars like them Matiz things and other small 12v jap cans will fit and will leave me enough room to run a standard un-chopped up grill.

It is on the never ending "To Do" list. The Nissan engine won't be staying, but what it will be replaced with is undecided as of yet.

    Currently in the works is...

A new front end is being assembled, The light bar will be going along with the extra set of mirrors which are no use what so ever. The alternator will be replaced/changed around so that I can run a full grill. The steering wheel has been replaced by a Motolita item and I have a Rust free boot with luggage panel which is currently being painted up and protected. I also have a set of R1 carbs and megajolt in the post although these will sit under the bed for a fairly long time before they are fitted.

Also need to try some 10"s on there, although I have read that this will throw the revs out of the window compared to them currently being on the 13's so I will have to have a little play.

I picked some MiniFin things up at SMD, along with some new pads which I need to fit, but i need to finish off the other 10 jobs I have started first.

  4. I have a Weihrauch HW97K, fair few years old and probably only used 4 times a year! Also have some old BSA thing stuffed under the bed.

There is a shooting club down the road which I have started visiting a little bit more now, I pay £25 for 50 clays and tuition. I keep going back for the taster days because they are cheap

Would love to do it a bit more but money and time are the main factors really!

i`ve got a weihrauch hw97k, with a nikko sterlink 6x16x50 scope on it. use it mainly for hft, and few little comps. puts out 11.5 ft lb consistently, and is very accurate.

Just noticed that's the same as mine!

Hasn't there been a MKII released now? mines from about 2004

  5. Thanks for the replies! I have been doing a little more reading and think i may have come up with my answer.

I have spotted them off set bushings but ill explain the reason for this thread.

The Fox shock i have at the moment is a very basic shock that came on my IronHorse and it is like i say pretty basic with only 3 rebound settings and that is it. My last shock was a 5th Element and it was a lot more adjustable than what i currently have.

I was chatting with a friend who had a potential shock i could use and i wanted to know if it would fit.

My current eye-2-eye length from what i have measured is between 222/225mm (i cant seem to find my digital vernier so i am going from eye with this) which equates to around 8.5" I think. Unfortunately the shock i was looking at was around 241mm which we was working out at 9.5" which would raise the BB and head angle too much.

I have learnt a lot more now though so thanks for all of the help!

  6. All of the bikes i have previously owned i have not had to fettle with the shock much, i have only ever removed them to have them serviced, refitted them and had some fun riding times. Any how I now need to replace a shock on one of my bikes and i need to know a bit more about them before i go out and buy something.

Now I understand the meaning of i2i but i am unsure on what stroke means?

When a spring is replaced does the stroke have to be taken into account or is it just a case of buying the suitable rating spring?

Now I have read up a little on this subject and come across a thread on another forum where people were using shocks which had a larger or smaller i2i and stroke sizes and it seemed to be a normal thing to do to slacken or lower the bike or the other way around.

Is it a common thin to use a different size shock in your frame?

Is any damage going to be caused if i use a shock which smaller or larger than advised?

I think that just about covered all of my questions for the minute.

    Thanks

  7. What I don't get is why your toilet flushes more water down than can actually fit in the basin, I thought it was a standard in toilets not to ever let that happen.

I have lost count of the amount of times i have been flapping my arms around hoping that it just doesnt come over the brim! Its such a huge releif when it stops just in time.

Then the sudden realisation of needing to sort out this horrible disaster you have just created is such a sinking feeling.

  8. I think the above sums it up, I didn't want to put any figures up and scare you away but it is not cheap. That said you can do it cheaper

When i first started out i got myself a 05 Kona stinky from a local rider, I picked it up with a cracked rear chainstay for £30 and managed to pick up a new rear triangle for £25. The joys with the Kona was it was more than a capable frame and did me well for a long time, the rear hub spacing was the standard 135 and the shock spacing wasn't abnormal nor was the Seat post size or anything like that so there was loads of cheap replacement parts floating about.

I built that up with a set of "04 boxxers and the thing didn't cost me much more than about £500 all in. Not cheap but considering the going rate of some things i felt it was pretty cheap. After this i stepped up to a M1 and then over onto a M3 and none of them have cost me any more than £1500.

You will be able to build something up to get you started on for around the £600 mark, but for that expect to search high and low and expect to spend a lot of time getting things to work as they should. It will not get you the newest stuff on the shelves but some of the best stuff i have ever used is a few years old now anyway!

Then again some of the best riders i know started out riding downhill on Sidekicks and DS1's many many moons ago!

A good seconde hand Orange five will set you back about £1500- £2000.

And a Decent Orange 224 will be around £2000-£3000 seconde hand aswel. You can get cheaper downhill bikes, but to be honest you will be looking at around £1000 for a half decent bike.

Never rode a 5 but everyone who has one rates them so highly.

224's are brilliant bikes, I had a 223 earlier this year which i got for a super bargain.

Stripped frame needing painting, also needed the BB thread rethreading.

    Shock

    2008 boxxers

    Spank wheelset

    Minion tires

    Hope headset

along with a few other little bits

For £325 but had to drive all the way up to Leeds to get it.

There are some well priced bikes out there which you can get hold of, but you just have to look really hard for them and whip them up quick when you find them!

  9. I was thinking of the Pace RC31 or something like that to start with i think. Anyway wish i had some either way

Ah man i Loved trials kings! remember sneaky ICT lessons watching video after video. Now they have been mentioned i am going to go and watch some and wish it was 7 odd years ago!

  10. I just meant in general that pace made forks which were pretty successful. I didn't notice you had them until i rear your first post after i had posted and i couldn't be bothered to edit my original post

    That's right, Danny Holroyd!

  11. Well there is a lot of things that you need to cover really.

What sort of riding you want to do and how much money you have to play with are obviously big factors.

I am possibly not the most educated person on this subject but i have had a bit of experience (about 3ish years on and off over a period of around 5 years) but to really give you a better idea on what you should go out and get i think you would need to give us a few pointers to work around.

What sort of riding would you be doing and most importantly how much are you wanting to spend?

  12. Ah man i love this! Allllways wanted one, didnt they make matching forks?

I still have that MBUK edition with "Akrig Maybe" on a RC250 in Barcelona. Always loved that edition.

Love these, which there was more bikes from this era around!

  13. Nice to know i am not the only one who is still loving the LEGO, I watched the mega factories lego thing on TV the other day and it was pretty cool!

When i was younger i used to think that there was some sort of vicious sea creature behind the bars of the wave machine!

Sit down peeing is a refreshing break.

  14. I work in a architects office/studio. We do many things like Surveying of historical buildings which have become weathered or damaged, like churches and cathedral stone work and have the damages repaired and reconstructed.

Pretty interestingly we also work with areas which were never formerly completed. Like the corona tower on Canterbury Cathedral. Also deal with repairs which may be needed to other areas such as the roofs and other places.

Pros - get to go to some pretty cool places and use some pretty cool things a d see some things that are just generally cool.

Down sides are everyone is a hoitey/snobby ballbag and I'd quite like to punch almost all of them in the face.

  15. Idea here is some of those things which you have kept on the low down for what ever reason, kept a secret from your parents, Girlfriends, Wifes, Boss, friends we throw out there for others to read and have a little laugh about. Maybe even guilty little pleasures which arent that bad.

Seen it on a few other forums and it seems to have been a success and makes for a pretty funny read!

I'll start off with some pretty basic ones.

Although i am a fully grown adult i love playing with lego and cheese strings.

I also still push the trolley around the supermarket pretending it is a car with supporting sounds.

Kermit the frog scared me quite a lot when i was younger, and i am still pretty creeped out by him now.

I am scared shitless of my new house and will do anything to avoid being left in it on my own at night.

I covered my housemates superdry jacket in cement (Long story, i was mixing it in the kitchen, knocked it over, his jacket was on the floor in front of the wasking machine) and i threw it away in my drunk state, he has been asking for it ever since but i just cant bring myself to tell him.

In my first trials comp i kept putting both feet down and getting 5 points, didnt realise why until some one told me at the end of the day.

There are loads more but i will save them for later.

    What are yours?
