Take of your cranks and bb, clean them, lube and refit making sure the crank bolts are tourqued at 310 in-lbs (35 Nm). do the same with the pedals and BB.
If you are still getting the grinding/cracking noise you know its new bb time!

Or brake fluid if you are a tight arse.

i was in a very similar situation a few months ago and i can still see it now, if you ever want to chat about it i would be more than happy to!
but Kudos for doing what you did mate! It is so reasuring to know that there are respectable people in the world like yourselfs...

thanks for that andee, the brake was bought in late 2006 and has been ace untill the last month or so.
i will have a gander through Tarty's now see what they can do if giving it a good scrub doesnt do it any good!

well i am not to sure how i should have titled this thread as i am unsure what the correct term for what i want is but meh here goes!
I have a hope mini mono, Recently its performance has drasticaly started to fall. I thought it was the pads so i wacked a new set in which doesnt seemed to haev do ne much.I have not toutched the brake other than fitting it to my bike and replacing the pads, i will not bleed hydrolic disc brakes as the last time i did it just ended in a horid mess!
So i would like to ask, Would it be possible to send to hope for a service? I recall hearing that some one had done it before but i am not to sure how they went about it or if i would be able to qualify for any sort of service.
I know it sounds damn stupid "will hope service my brake for free?" BUT I know that they used to do some thing like this, but not to sure why they did it or what, to be honest i really dont have a clue!
Would anybody be able to tell me if they do this and if it is still avaloble and if so how do i go about it?

I'd say that if you keep on top of your work, which will be hard
To be honest, from my exsperiance. If you listen to what is said to you and do what you need to do in lessons, use your brakes/lunches to do your corsework or whatever you will be ontop of your work with no trouble.
If you are doing a 5 day a week course most likely you qill have a day or two where you go in late and leaver early or go in at your usual time and leave early. What i used to do was go straight to the resource rooms or libary or whatever and do my course work and stuff there. they have everything you need and every one you need to ask about things is there. Do that, and you will be fine!
You will be suprised at how many other lads will probably come along with you, i sure as was!

First Diploma shouldn't be too hard... If you do well within the first coupla weeks they might even move you straight to the National Diploma... That's what they did to a couple of students at my college.
I did a First National Diploma as a aprenticeship when i was 14 through to when i was 16 and it was petty simple mate! I was a complete washout and i did fine! I am now doing my National Diploma so i can go on to uni when i am 18. To be honest its simple as long as you have the time to learn and dont waste the turots time.

every collage corse says this, my apprenticeship manager told me it also. Its not always true.
You will have more than enough time to ride if you want to ride as you will make time. no one on here can tell y ou weather to stop or not. If you want a perfect collage record then yeh give up riding, dedicate every moment of the next 5 years or so to the course. you will soon get fed up after a few weeks. I sure was!
What course is it out of intrest?

i am sorry but... i think the "I am 16 i dont need to be tied down" line is crap! I am 17 and have been with my missus for 4 years, i would not change that for the world! "I am 16 i dont need to be tied down" is just a excuse for i want to be a slag! no one is going to want her a few years down the line when she is looking for some thing serious and she has shaged everything and the farmers dog! Turn it around and show her how its done mate! i had a missus like this years ago i thought she was the best god damn thing in the world but was exactly like yours! now i have everything i could ask for and she is just a stupid little scum bag who hands round all the scene clubs and is a dog!
you have got your head screwed on mate, stick to what you know is right and some one will realise your a top lad!
