Neon Bb

jsy trials matt

Recommended Posts

hi, i bought a neon bb a little white ago ( square ) and noticed that when my cranks are fully on there is quite a big gap between the frame and the crank, so i left it be and got on. Today changing a puncture a mate of mine noticed there was a big chunk out of my frame :( where it has rubbed, so put the bike all back together and could see it was defo the chain that had done the damage. So later i checked on my mate mat's bike ( who got a neon bb a few week's afater me ) his has done the same :( but not to the same degree as i ride my bike a lot further than him. Im am using a bionic b2 and mat's using a 08 GU. we're not sure what to do but we think some weld put in it would do the trick, has anyone else had this problem, and do you think it's our bb help us please

thanks guy's

Im using a Neon ISIS BB and it's working lovely.

I wouldnt say the BB's are crap.. not the ISIS ones anyway.

I think the problem you have is either:

- that your BB spindle is too wide, or wider than your old one. So you chainline is further out and will have the chain eating into your seat stays.

- you're not running a 18-12/13 setup

Hmm sounds like its spindle length (well, doubt its anything else to be honest) Have you tried a different BB or used a different bb in that frame before? If not it could be something else, and infact any other square BB could do the same.

As suggested, check your ratio set up: should be 18:12. Check your chain tension? maybe its too slack? If you put pressure on the pedals, does the chain clear the chain stay? If so, you could do with tightening the chain by pulling the wheel back the tensioners.

Also, chainstay protectors might help (Y)

well the neon square bb's are 128mm over the usual 127.5, could that really be the difference?
