JackyyBoii
Hi I just need some quick advice from people who know more than myself...Theres someone at my school who rides trials and hes grinded down his rims to make the grip on his brakes better, and I just wondered if this is worth doing as I dont wont to go ahead and do it only for it to mess up the bike. And if so what shall i use to do this?ThanksJack. ben.richardson
Use a small angle grinder not the big grinders that use cutting discs take your tyre off and brush the grinder over the rim lightly so you don't cut through it. What pads do you use?
JackyyBoii
errmm...just some standard TEKTRO ones...Going to get some new ones soon...these ones just arent 'sharp' enough for my liking
tom 20
You could just use the search or an angle grinder would do the job, depending on how light or heavy you want the grind to be i would use an old rim to practice on first to get the feel for it EDIT: im not sure if the pads that come with tektro brakes would take a grind that well ( as in they would be crap or wear down fast). ben.richardson
So its a v-brake?? I'd suggest purchasing some plazmatic crv's or spanish fly pads they would work nice on a light grind

moto_psycho
Grinding definately hleps brakes, just remember to keep it consistent, and only lightly touch the surface! Wear goggles and a mask, and do not press hard! Otherwise ull have a bloody notch in ur wheel like i do
