  1. I used an Echo vee booster for some time and it was less stiff than my current one which was the cheapest one in my lbs (like 3 pounds or less). The only advantage Echo could have was better tyre clearance. But it was on mod. On stock i believe any booster should fit.

  2. That isn't official though, dani comas did a large one anway, 1m60 but that one isn't official aswell

Benito ross got the heighest official sidehop.

    Kinda sad topic btw :P

If you're talking about that sidehop Dani made on some vid in a trialpark in Spain to some big stone, you're definitely wrong. It was only written on the screen something like 160cm but it certailny didn't look so high. By the look he sidehopped around 140cm. Can't argue about that's still ridiculously huge!

  3. I like the idea with vertical dropouts. Spring-type tensioners are imo a better solution as with them the chain is never too loose or tight. Very often screw-on sprockets/freewheels are not perfectly aligned with the chain line so you can see its tension varies when you spin the cranks. Now what they need to design is some clever tensioner that's well protected from impacts.

  4. Go dual disc, there's a reason why every mode of transport uses Discs to slow down over hydraulic 'rim' brakes. It's a fact that they're better. Hydraulic rim braking is a Trials fad, that'll die out eventually when everyone realises discs are better.

Hopefully they won't when ceramic/plazmatic coated rims are available.

  5. I don't ride any big so I doubt I'd chip it. For the price I could even pay 150% of average trials price for ceramic 19' rim at least 38mm wide. I'm using Coustvees, they are intended for ground rims. I like them because they give a solid lever feel and don't loose as much power on a smooth rim as soft pads do in wet.

Of course I could grind my rim. I did so a year ago on another rim. It lasted 1-2 months and after that the brake worked worse than on smooth rim. To keep the brake performance at a decent level I should then regrind my rim every 1-2 months and that would kill the rim quite fast, I suppose. Now I'm using a smooth (almost) rim and it's fine to me but not superb. Therefore I thought ceramic would be a perfect solution for me. The only better I can imagine is a magnalium ceramic one (or carbon B) ).

  6. Have there ever been any ceramic trials (i.e. WIDE) rims available? I know Mavic made some ceramic rims but they were half the width of trials ones.

Yeah, I suppose someone will say "just grind your rim" but somehow I can't bother to do it.

  7. but then you would just have the same problem with stock in theroy as people use 2.5 tyres on stock aswell just like mod so really there shouldnt be a problem.

You cannot compare it like this. 2,5 on mod is much bigger than 2,5 on stock.

I'm using mielec vee adaptors on Gu 06 frame with Avid Ultimate calipers and half worn Try-All stiky tyre on 48mm rim and unstretched chain. Vertical clearance is fine, should be enough for a new Stiky tyre with full tread, not sure about bigger tyres like maxxis or monty 2,7 though. I removed the adjusting washers from the inner sides of the brake pads (coustvees, quite thin backings, comparing to plazmatic ones) and put one or two regular 1mm ones so the pads contact the rim flat and I don't rub the brake arms with my legs.

  8. I have found a method to download from dailymotion.com, which is used by "photo-by-sergio".

Here is the list of the videos uploaded by "photo-by-sergio":

    http://www.dailymotion.com/photobysergio

    1. Select the video you want to download.

    2. Copy the link to the vid to the website shown below:

http://keepvid.com/ (probably you will have to choose "dailymotion" option)

    3. Copy the download link to a new browser window and open it, your browser will ask you where to save the file.

    4. Rename as you wish ("Vincent Hermance - Street à Paris.flv" looks better than "4541111.flv", doesn't it?).

    5. Enjoy!
