1. depending on what sort of riding keen to do,and what brake your using. are you riding pure tirals, street trials or pure street? if your riding pure trials you want tnn lgm. if your riding street i find the heatsink reds good. what rim will you be using?if its harder material like the dx32 then the red heatsink are ace-with a good grind.if its soft like trial tech or tryall the heatsink reds wear the grind away to quick.
2. I spend most of my time riding alone. There a 2hr drive to next closest rider,we get together for a ride every 2 weeks so its not to bad. i find riding by yourself if your keen, you learn thing quicker and get more things dialed. The main reason i see is because your out to ride and not talking crap with your mates,so you focus alot more on the riding and it makes you better.
3. what size rotor? my brakes were off the melon.they were brutal every use.i used 8in rotor ,ebc red pads, xtr levers and odyssey linear slick cables,im still using the same set up from 2 and a bit years ago. i recon the lgm are better than the crm for the wet.we recently had a comp in the rain.it was pissing down,my front were terrible with heatsink blue,my back were fantastic with tnn lgm.i was suprised at how well they worked in the rain. the alloy backings make the brakes stiffer cause of no pad flex.
4. maneuverable and easier to handle around, that more relates to street.i feel the longer frames are much more stable on natty, the length is better for bridging gnarly natty lines. i think shorter frames are to twitchy on natty.in the last 6 months ive ridden street once, and my current frame which is much longer than my older frame feels heaps better. thats just my feelings on the matter.
5. hey guy i thought as im a new poster i should put up so videos so you can see how i ride. hope you guys enjoy my videos.let me know what you think.im not sure if some of you guys have seen them or not as you can see the riding progression. the quality isnt the best, since these were filmed ive gotten a HD camera.im currently filming an trials and a street video so keep an eye out.
6. that looks super nice man.i like it.i love the colour. ive noticed heaps of people build up there inspired still really trialsy spec.mines built more streetish, lke a dirt jump bike with trials geo,ill post up pics so you can see what i mean, youll have to give me a few days till i get home.
7. this is also a good option, ive used bb7 for 2 1/2 years on a dual disc stock.ive very happy with how well they work.all my disc bike use bb7.there cheap, work good, adjustable and easy to set up.
8. i agree with this.thats why ill never get a bike with a drilled headtube. i think if you were to used a frame with a drilled headtube you should use a cheap headset mainly because the bearings are super cheap, there like $1 from LBS.on that note i really dont like the feel of a cheap headset.i like my headsets to be super smooth.heance all my bike have king headsets as there the best ive ever used.
9. these are the pads you want.ive been running them for 5 months and the wear is about 40% of original thickness.i used a very coarse grind for 3 months.i built new wheels and use a fine to medium grind and the wear is minimal now and the breaks are preforming much much better.so if you use these pads use a medium grind because you get a better working brake
10. get the control.there a really nice frame, its good you can get them in short and long. after a while on that youll probly want to go back to a longer frame,i used to love the short frames, rode them for ages.i then broke my frame and got a long frame.now i love the long frame.i mainly ride natty,so the longer frame is better suited to how i ride.
11. and im also 24,sometimes after a ride i feel older.its good to see so many mature people still riding.most of the guys i know quit as soon as they got there licence.
12. i agree with ali c.ive used vee's and magura.the vee's hold heaps better.i run mine so the lever pulls in more.after the levers moved past the pivot point i feel that they lock,i think thats why they hold well. i like the bite of the magura's they also have a nice hold. if you want maximum bite i say new style magura's,4 finger lever, tnn clamps/booster combo and tnn lgm pads with a fine to medium grind.i cant believe how much bite they have, its insane.
13. i used a flapper wheel(griding wheel with sand paper) when i first went to rim breaks on the front.since ive gotten used to the feel ive grinding the rim with a grinding wheel.its got so much more bite and hold now.it gets kinda crazy on hooha's and gaps to front but its worth it.
14. get one of the new echos.there a good price and durable.
15. if you sick of distroying the aluminium ones, echo have now made a set of steel ones which are much better. you should check them out.
