  1. Haha 2 very different responses there then! Yeah ive heard the town is just like a grid, sounds a bit boring but its what inside the grid that counts right!? Im moving from peterborough so how would you say it compares if you've ridden there? Any good natural stuff? What are the really nice spots you mentioned like?
  2. Hi guys im moving to MK at the end of september and was wondering if there are many riders there? Would be good to meet some local riders and get a scene going! Any good places to ride there? Cheers
  3. Id say around 50% solo. I often ride solo and enjoy being able to practice and repeat moves and do what I want to do. Dont have to worry about other people getting bored of riding the same place. I also like to be able to ride constantly, do a lot in a short space of time instead of being sat there chatting etc and not riding! Bad thing is not feeling safe, worrying about bike/bag getting nicked, attracting unwanted attention from chavs... I never ride solo in town either because i'd feel like a bit of a dick hopping around on walls and benches on my own! The other 50% i usually ride with 1 other trials rider and a mate who tags along with his dirt jump bike. Its good to get different ideas and see peoples different strengths etc. Seems like my trials scene has dwindled since moving to peterborough, when I used to live in leeds I always had another riding buddy and very often around 5 of us would be out, used to be great! Anymore regular riders from peterborough!?
  4. Hey guys I recently had my Kona Kula stolen, it was locked up outside Asda in Peterborough and when I came out of there it was gone. Been really gutted about it, im sure loads of you know the feeling of getting a bike nicked. Anyway last monday I saw it advertised on ebay, couldn't believe it! The last week ive been chasing it all up with the police. Been a lot of hassle ringing them up and not really getting anywhere, I rang them on tuesday mornng and they told me they would get in touch with ebay and it would normally take a couple of days for ebay to get an address. When I spoke to the pc on saturday it turned out that they hadn't even been in touch with ebay even though id rung the police up a few times during the week. The relevant department doesn't work at the weekend as well! My brother asked the seller if it was possible to view the bike but got no reply. My other brother with a different ebay account put a maximum bid on it of £800 and on sunday night we won it for £670. Said we would pay cash on collection, asked for his address. He gave a landline phone number and then yesterday his mobile number. My bro rang him up yesterday afternoon to arrange "collection" of the bike and I arranged with the police to go round with them. So at 8.30 this morning I went round to the address with the police and waited in the car while they paid him a visit. 10 minutes later they came out with my bike! I identified it, I had a list of about 13 things that I had changed on the bike. Stuff like red grips, big chain ring taken off, red brake pads, seat quick release, dmr v12 black pedals. The guy had removed the speedo I had on there but you could still make out where it had worn away the handlebar paint., also he had taken a sticker off but you could still make out where it had been. He has been arrested and my bike is seized by the police untill he is charged etc. Hope hes having a nice day being interviewed hahahahahaha Unfortunately I had ordered a new bike before I saw this on ebay, got a 2008 Kona Kula Deluxe from paulscycles, its bloody gorgeous! Smile I will be selling the Kona Kula 2009 on ebay when I get it back, don't need two of them! Look out for it if your interested. Hope this gives those still looking for stolen bikes some hope!
  5. Hey thanks for the reply, i live in peterborough so its a bit far to come to ride your trials area, thanks anyway though! Yeah I guess the main obstacle is the budget to fund any new projects. Nice one phoning them up, I think ill send an email/letter to the forestry commission and see what they say. Anyone else want to as well? Yeah it would be ace to have a trials area at some of the trail centers and if its good im sure it would attract lots of riders. I guess one of the best things about trials is that you can ride it more or less anywhere, but im sure the council etc doesn't appreciate us riding on walls/benches etc!
  6. haha nice video, some shocking moves, helmets and luminous colours!
  7. Hey I bought an XC bike about 6months ago and since then I've been to quite a few trail centers around the UK. Places like Thetford Forest, Cannock Chase, Sheerwood Forest, Lee Mill Quarry, Chicksands. the best was in Scotland when I went to Ae, Mabie and Dalbeattie which are part of the 7 Stanes mountain biking trails run by the forestry commission. All of these places have some great riding and a lot of time and money has been spent building and maintaining these trails. I guess many of you have XC/DH or other mountain bikes and have gone to places like these all over the country so know what im talking about. I think it would be great to get a few trials parks set up at some of these places, after all many of these have dirt jump and freeride areas, downhill tracks, places with drops to ride off and narrow balance beams etc. So why not trials!? I've seen the trials park at Lee Mill Quarry, looks great, anyone know how much it cost to set up, who designed it etc? Something similar at some of these trail centers would be ace, im sick of riding on stuff your not allowed on, people telling you to move along and chavs asking you to "do a wheelie mate". Im sure it would benefit these places aswell, surely more customers and more money for them in the long run? And think of the very small area that would be needed to make a decent set up compared to an XC/DH route. Also most of these trail centers have build days where the trails are maintained and new features added/improved by volunteers, we could do the same surely. What do you guys think? I reckon a few of us should send an email or letter to the Forestry Commission or who ever is in charge, lets make something happen! Or has this been done a few times in the past with no results??
  8. Hi guys I found another 2 great brakeless videos from Sean Watson. Not sure if they've already been posted.... I really liked the filming and editing and the riding is pretty awesome as well! Brakeless 1: Vid1 Brakeless 2: Enjoy!
  9. Ok thanks guys. Think i'll take it to a bike shop and see if they have the tool, seems like quite a bit of money for something that I will probably only use once! Any one use a screwdriver/hammer to do it?!
  10. This might be a stupid question but how do you remove the bashring from the crank arms? I have had these cranks for about 6 years and need to replace the bash ring as the bolt threads are pretty knackered, the chain ring is only attached with 3 out of the 5 bolts at the moment. Do I need any special tool, don't want to start hammering away at it and mess something up! Thanks for any help
  11. Hey thanks for getting in touch, Those names you mentioned sound familiar, Ive ridden a few times with someone called Andrew Scooby, not sure if you know him? Think there friends of his but i havnt ridden with them yet. Yeah we should definitely meet up some time, I need to get back into trials properly after years of not doing it! I work shifts so it means one week I have monday off and the other week I work it. Im up for some monday riding definitely!
  12. Hey im quite new to Peterborough and im looking for some riding buddies. Would be good to meet some new people to go on regular rides with, at the moment im just having the occasional mess about in a carpark haha. So if theres anyone out there who fancies meeting up get in touch!
  13. Wow well done, another brilliant video! Its crazy to think what you can do without brakes, very innovative riding!! I wonder what will be next, riding without a chain, without tyres, a 10" front wheel maybe?! lol good work
  14. Hmm I had a look at that but ive just spend £150 quid on bike parts already, not eager to spend another £80! Because of the shape of the offset mounts the slave cylinder won't be able to move any closer to the rim, only further away (if the offset mounts are positioned the right way). Tried to explain it in my first post, a diagram would be easier! I have the TPA all the way in (well the TPA broke years ago, using the TPA bolt bodge on both levers!). It's a smooth rim and the pads are pretty new. Its just because ive got such a narrow rim, trials parts have moved on since I last rode! The overbleed technique sounds promising, I was hoping something like that would be possible. How is it done step by step? Been a while since I last bled my brakes... What are power pad backings, do you think any old magura pad would do? Cheers
  15. Thanks for the replies. I think the new rim option is my best bet then, i'll have a look on ebay and hopefully I can sell my current front wheel so it doesn't hurt my wallet as much Hope to be riding again in the next few weeks! Cheers
  16. Hi All, After not riding for about 3 or 4 years I am trying to get back into riding. I recently replaced my old cracked forks with some Trial Tech ones. This has caused a problem with my front break though. As the new forks are wider than my old forks and I am using a narrow xc rim my maguras are not close enough to the rim. When I pull the front break the pads do hit after pulling the lever a long way, but the power is pathetic, I cant even lock it using 2 fingers! I was wondering what the solution to this would be, Im hoping I dont have to buy a new rim as the one ive got is reasonably new and in good condition. I've looked at the offset 4 bolt magura mounts but I dont think they would help me move the pads closer to the wheel as the "L" shape of the slave cylinders wont be able to move past the mounts to take advantage of the offset (hope that makes sense). I guess I will have to buy a new wider rim but thought id check to see if theres a cheaper solution!? I'd forgotten how expensive trials can be, you buy one thing and then it turns out you need another! Thanks for any help.
  17. Hi i was just wondering if anyone had a trials park near them? Would be great to have somewhere that your allowed to ride instead of getting kicked off riding street! Any pictures?
  18. Yeah well done with the riding, how long have you been riding out of interest? Get a helmet it could safe your life one day!
