  7. your not allowed to ride at knabb 'out of comp', if the farmer catches you on there he wouldn't be very happy and could ruin chances for local comps to be held there....
  8. sorry to moan, but this is the sort of thing that ruins it for others. i know a lot land owners of good trials spots are gettin annoyed with trials riders trespassing on their land and as such, if they do have days when they allow riding, they are less willing to let trials riders ride. Another similar problem was with litter at Dudwood http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....topic=70315&hl= these can also cause problems when it comes to organising competitions, makin it harder to find venues and stuff........
  9. nice vid mate, some of my favourite spots there. How'd u get access to Knabb though? Is it open at wknds now?aint ridden there for a couple of years n wouldnt mind a visit again! Cheers Woody
  10. haha thats crazy i got my Alex DX32 undrilled rim for £5 brand new of a supplier becuase they had a load that they couldn't shift, and before you ask, i've rang them and they've all gone! But it means that there are some out there somewhere!!if everyone trys their local bikeshops im sure someone will find them.good luck in your search for the 'RIM'!!!!!
  11. if you dont want to take your rubbish home you can always throw it on the massive rubbish heap just between the out buildings and the rocks.you cant miss it. just dont leave it lying around the rocks
  12. Went for a ride at Dudwood Farm near Matlock today. The farmer mentioned that he's been having a bit of trouble with trials riders leaving rubbish around the rocks when they've been riding there lately. If this problem continues i can see us not being able to ride there anymore, which would be a big shame because its a brilliant venue! I know it might only be a few people and might even be a case of simply forgetting to pick up your bottle of water but litter is still litter! So next time any of you guys ride there, do us all a favour and make sure u take your rubbish home and if you see any pick it up and keep the place clean! Cheers Woody
  13. Sorry ben!!we all miss you as well, and your gonna have to come up to sheffield or Derby over xmas when your back for a ride! Nice vid matt, all that stuff looks loads smaller on a monitor. Its a lot bigger in real life!! never mind though! still looked good. We should do a nice winter warmer video now! Trials by the fireplace or something!!lol >_< Woody
  14. if you weld a mount on the front of the forks (disc side) id be very careful! even if u are a good welder the mount will be put under a lot of stress! it doesnt have the fork leg to support it so the weld will take all the braking force. just a thought..... (Y)
  15. right. the play doh machine is an awesome example, n like mcajh says as the metal comes out of the die it is cooled to a temp at which it hold its shape. Most bars arent the same thickness all the way through, they vary at different points, this reduces weight but also helps a bit with the stress distribution of the massive forces that trials rider inflict upon bars. This thickness variation is done using a special type of extrusion. The red bit on the play doh model creates the outer diameter of the bar, but to make the hole in the middle another tool is used which is positioned in the molten metal, but this metal melts at a much higher temp. This tool can be varied in diameter to make the correct inner diameter for the bar. In some cases the outer diamter of the bar varies so in that case the outer diamter tool would vary its diameter too. once this is all done the bar is still straight, but becuase the tube is still hot enough to be formed it ccan bent into shape using a jig specific to the bar design. To stop the bar from folding or creasing a insert is usually put inside the bar before its is bent to prevent this. The bar is usually left in the jig to cool and to stop it bending back. Hope that helps think i covered most pointers Woody
