  1. So today me and my wife were ment to go look at a new(secondhand) car what was advertised for £5,000. So we got ready to go have a look at the car and we receive a message saying that she has taken down the for sale add because she didn't know what to do. She then said that she now wants £6,000 because she has had work done to the car. So I told her I'd rather not spend the extra money on this car and now she has the cheek to have a go at me.

  2. So as the title states since coming back into trials again I've kinda been looking at everything lately and thought I might replace my tyre (bald highroller dh) and have no real clue what I'm looking at. I'm looking for something similar to my highroller thick sidewalls, roughly 2.5 etc. Dose anyone have any recommendations to something similar or as close as can be cheers.

  3. I know there not just trials but a bit of everything. The chain reaction series of films and riders anonymous when I was younger I remember buying these on vhs from halfords and then at some point on dvd I loved seeing the likes of Ryan leech, shawn denny and lance trappe (I think that's his last name).

    - Coustellier pads for the rear brake

    - As Flipp says , the low upsweep modern high rise bars would feel awful on an older bike IMO. Trial tech high rise or equivalent would be ideal.

-The Jitsie front tyres are really good , depends on what you’re looking for though. It’s a super light , soft compound competition tyre.

Cheers Alex I think I will be going with the coust pads alot of people and friends recommended them. Bars i didn't really think of the highrise version of trialtechs and the front tyre the previous owner of the bike has a 2.5 maxxis minion tyre on the front ( definitely over kill for a front tyre ) so its basically something lightweight im after so I'll have a look into the jitsie front tyres.

The Clean bars are good, if they're still made, they're basically Trialtechs + 3 or 4mm, nice upsweep, lasted me well. I never loved Arcade bars, they were necessary on a 24" but I find them way too much on a 26".

Hi Leon ill have a look around for the clean bars and I had a ride on a arcade with the arcade bars I did enjoy riding his bike but they did feel very flat on the upsweep compared to the last set of bars I had before i got the ozonys xs26 (monty 221 white and red riser bars) cheers for the suggestion on the bars Leon.

People might tell you to get X, Y or Z super high rise bars. Don't. The frame wasn't designed for them. Trialtechs are super bombproof and the highest I would go for with that frame, but possibly a shade lower would be better.

Not sure on the other two because I'm brakeless 20" :P

Cheers aener I did try to look for the trialtech bars but carnt seem to find them i know tartybikes normally sell them but didn't have alot of options for trialtech bars. I did look at a pair of jitsie bars ( 90mm ) they seem ok but the up sweep seems really high compared to the zoo bars im running.

  6. Hello everyone

So after a fairly long break from trials the bug has bitten me again and decided to get another bike. The spec of the bike is kinda mid 2000s build ozonys xs26 ( I believe) most of the build I am gonna keep hope wheels ,echo forks ,front and rear maguras ,echo cranks and neon stem. So I'm looking to upgrade the bars ( old style zoo bars ) tyres mostly the front one (old dead front tyre) and brake pads ( running tnn greens that are nearly dead ) any recommendations on updating these parts .

    Biddle.

  7. Hello there

So after a fair bit of time I have decided to get back in the game and purchased a stock. So the forks (echo urban) need a new star nut and the original one is destroyed so this needs replacing the issue is the forks have the thicker steering tube and I don't remember what star size/diameter is need for these forks I was gonna replace it with a through headlock device I think they are called but I'm on a bit of a tight budget at the moment.

So i finally got my hands on my dream bike from when i was a spotty teenager growing up riding trials! And to say its in good condition is an understatement pretty stoked right now and excited to start collecting bits.

I've been following my dreams and ticking a few things off the last few years one being starting my own mtb specific shop based in norwich 2 1/2 years ago which is going well so figured it was time to find my unicorn bike

    20915176_10154991587040914_5750420640905

frame number is T7092 which from the pace serial numbers thread over on retro bike is already on there previously owned by spitoon

i'm planning on a period correct build using as near mint parts as i can source which i know is going to take some time and effort and eventually this will hang somewhere in my house pride of place!

anyone able to help me identify if its a 98 or 99 model as i want the correct forks to match but the later 99 model i believe had slightly different crown to the 98 version.

if anyone has anything kicking about that they think would be suitable for the build then please comment or get in touch. I do have a few bits already and a few wishlist parts which are listed below but i'm open to other ideas if people have something suitable

    GOT
    Middleburn rs7's
    roox dannys frd stem
    Chris king ti headset
    mavic d521 cd ceramic rims
    pace carbon front hub

    WANTED
pace rc30t trials forks 98 or 99 tbc?
brakes? hope disc c2's sport levers?
    azonic double wall bars?
    irc el gato tyres?
    grips?
    roox seatpost
x lite crank caps and brake blanking bits?
    saddle?

If anyone has any extra info that would be awesome going to drop pace an email see if they can help in any way with anything also

    Cheers guys

What shop do you run in Norwich also try Mark Anthony Bikes Direct (Buxton) they used to deal a lot of older trials stuff middleburn hubs, planet x frames etc it might be worth a shot ringing them and seeing if they have any of that stuff in the storage/warehouse.

There also used to be a shop in derby that had a lot of older stuff like base, mk2 ashton frames i just carnt think of the name at the moment when it comes to me ill edit my post.

No problem, also with many magura calipers they don't come with this threaded pad pin to stop the pads rocking. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/191710530976?_mwBanner=1 this will fit magura as well as the standard Shimano calipers.

Cheers again John i did notice there was a fair bit of play in the pads i didn't realise that it could be solved by change of pin

Try the Jitsie Race MT2 brake pads. They should "add" 20mm to your rotor size easily. Stock MT2 pads are pretty wank to be honest.

I was looking at them i might go with them then also i agree with you on the standard pads they are rubbish

Cheers again for the help all these years riding trials i thought i had it all clued up and then trying discs has taken me by surprise.

Typically moving to a larger rotor on an otherwise unchanged setup will give you more power/bite, but is a little harsher on parts as a result. So long as the larger rotor will physically fit the frame ok then the Inspired should be meaty enough to hack it without any concerns, though you may experience a little more spoke flex depending on how sturdy your wheelbuilds are.

The MT2s are a reasonable enough entry level brake and a larger rotor/aftermarket pads may be enough to beef them up for some casual use, but if you still find them lacking then it may be time to look at moving up the range a little (Y)

Cheers Luke for the info yeah the brake works fine and then it's is there just seems to be lacking a little so I might go down the road of different pads and new adapters and rotors.

Magura EBC Red or magura Trialtech pads are a good choice of brake pads for extra bite. Also if you go too a 203mm rotor, it would be best to upgrade the rear brake adaptor to a much fatter one to take the strain off the bite and flex. It because a lot of people have broken there calipers from upgrading too larger rotors. This type will help https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B073VR6J79/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1502361194&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=Hayes+203mm+rear+adapter&dpPl=1&dpID=417uGY%2BLmsL&ref=plSrch

Cheers john that was gonna be my next question was pads and I think I'm gonna go down the road of EBC reds and cheers for the link on the adapters gone and ordered two now just for rotors.

  11. Hello there

I need a bit of help/info on using 203mm rotors at the moment im running 180 front and 180 back they seem ok but just don't have enough bite/power.

I don't normally run discs always been running maguras so i'm still a little new to discs what are the pros and cons on using 203mm rotors.

    My setup at the moment

Inspired frame, magura mt2 brakes, standard pads and hope trial disc rotors

    Cheers for any help/info

    David.

I'm pretty sure it was the same except for 5mm in the BB? Can't remember if it was higher or lower though

    Something around 1035, 380, 72, +30 I think.

I loved mine at the time, but on hindsight it was horrible. Haha.

    Thank you aener.

I'm thinking that this might be the case at the moment i am riding a inspired console love the bike to bits but i remember the old zoot/mk1 fourplay being perfect but my thinking that it has been a long time since riding one of them frames so riding one of these frames now might be completely different from back then.

I believe its the same as the mk1 Inspired Fourplay geometry.

Got one at home, so could tell you the reach and CS length fairly easily

Thank you Alex I remembered someone saying that before I'm thinking of getting a frame made and loved that frame to ride but being a long time ago I just couldn't remember.

I was using one of the Xtreme ones, but switched to a Trialtech one.

Most forged stems are all much of a muchness.  Them being forged makes them stronger than welded stems but also means they're cheaper to produce, so you can end up getting really good stems that are relatively cheap.  It's pretty much the only instance where the whole "Light, strong, cheap - pick two" thing isn't actually true as you can basically have all three.

I'd go for the Trialtech one purely because it doesn't say "XTREME" down the side of it, but satin black spray paint can be your friend there ;)

Thank you Mark for the information I think I'll end up going for the trial tech just for the fact that it will match a lot of the other components on the bike.

Ali used to use the extreme brand one. I was going to get an 80x40 trialtech but it wasn't in stock, I emailed trialtech and they said it was just back in stock and should be with dealers soon, this was a month or two ago though. Tartybikes not got any?

I did check tartybikes the only stem they had was the 90 by 35 what do have at the moment but has been used and abused to the point of replacement and i think from that the xtreme stem might have to be my option.

    Biddle.

  16. Im looking into a new stem and have been toying around with several stems and i think im gonna go with 80 lengh by 40 rise the problem is theres not alot of options for this stem.

Ive found a few but most of them are either not in stock or not available anymore so the only one i have found is the xtreme pro high rise stem has anyone had any experiencewith this stem good/bad points.

Also i was watching one of ali c vlog videos and he seems to be running a trialtech with these dimensions but i carnt seem to find this stem anywhere though.
