koxx browns in metal backings is what ben savage used to run because it made them bite better, but still with the incredible hold
and the cousts are a kinda see through green
Cheers for the info mate and yeah they were the coust pads i was looking at
Very helpful indeed that guide
Thanks very much
+1That's probably why! Haha
Mine are on a medium grind and it's absolutely AMAZING! I haven't tried them on smooth but if your running a grind deinately get TNN's!
True!
Right ive now narrowed it down to: TNN, Phat pads or Cousts (Greens).
The Cousts are the most unlikely of the choices as ive never witnessed them being used and they are a bit on the expensive side
But although the TNN pads are also quite expensive the good feedback ive had from them on here evens it out a bit
And for the Phat pads... The cheapest but ive seen these being used and had a go on a bike with them on and the brake was set up S*it and it still worked the b******s...
So really and truly its been narrowed down to the Phat Pads or the TNN pads ...
I hate deciding

Yep that was the main downsides of the rimjams, BUT, doesn't affect how good the pads were, they were top notch, shame about the backings!
I've used Plaz CRMs before and they were alright... not amazing, I found that the wear rate was poor on them compared to other pads
Yeah the old CRM pads are the same compound as the new ones if you didnt know
but i dont know if the CNC backings makes them better
thats vaguely true, but ive used phat, old crms (tnn basically), cousts (plastic and metal), koxx browns but not the rock pads.phat pads were pretty good, but not really ideal for my style, not especially great hold
old crms were awesome on smooth, and i am running them on the front of my control atm, because i like the bite and fairly good hold
im currently using the coust material at the moment in cnc backings, have used plastics too, the plasics were silent, the cnc were loud, but are now quiet on a dead grind, but bite and hold very very well
koxx browns had f**k all bite, but insane hold
and i have ridden people bikes with the rock pads and found them to be similar to the phat pads.
My Koxx browns have quality bite but not good hold lol
Cheers for the other info about the other pads aswell mate
oh yeah what colour cousts was it that you said were a good comprimise by the way?
-
Nope haven't voted for anything, I hate people who post in these topics who don't have a clue about whats really the best, its always giong to be a matter of opinion but before I vote on 6 pads I would liked to have tested them all... which I haven't
Hence why 99% of polls on TF are bollocks because people vote for what they have heard or think is best without any first hand exp.
edit: the only one on that list I haven't used is TNN compound, but the best of the rest is phat pads without a shaddow of a doubt.
Top 3 pads ive used, Heatsink Reds, Rimjam V3's and phats.
Very true what you have said there Simps!
But dont the Rimjam V3 pads rip the piston clip off? Because of their crap CNC backings!
Also didnt you use the old Plazmatic CRM pads without the CNC backings?
thats pretty much what i found too. coust pads are a good comprimiseWhat colour Coust pads?

Why are you trying to sell for him? I got my hands on some of the proto material I wasn't impressed in the slightest and the quality was poor.
Just get what you want Jim, I'm no sales person but my (Now 3 sets of phat pads) have worked amazingly on all rim and grind combos fine. But riders like AliC swear by TNN and others love plaz and koxx browns, just buy what you want.
Cheers Simps
I was just getting other peoples opinions on what worked the best for them
So i guess you've voted for Phat pads?
Regarding the TNN's on a smooth rim - I have no idea, I only ever run ground rims. I have run te old CRM compound on a muc off'd smooth rim and it was amazing. Maybe your mate needs to clean his rim.Joypads are also pretty good, good bite and noise but lck hold in my opinion. Koxx Brown are the opposite in my experience, great hold but not much bite or noise.
Ok then mate
At the moment im stuck between getting: TNNs, Phat pads, Coust Yellows (as somone suggested) or Coust greens.
Im running Koxx browns at the moment but they only seem to work when i use them on a grind with tar; saying that the grind was flat
-
speak to alex im sure hel fit the material if you send him the backings hes done it for me
Ok then cheers mate
Mine are about the best brake Ive used, only downside is theyre pretty noisy. Ive had them 3 months and guess theyve worn about 1-2mm, they should last out a year with my riding but then I dont ride for as long as I used toObviously performance is dependant on setup, mine works perfectly for me.
Ok then ma'friend these are definitely going into consideration
QFT, that brakes a beast !EDIT: I voted Phat Pads out the choice's i had, unreal pads on both smooth rim and a grind.
Yeah the phat pads are the ones i was considering first of all they seem pretty beastly!
-
Dont discount the heatsink yellows
Are they good on a medium grind aswell then?
how long would they last?
-
sells just the materal for 5 quid! think he does backings now but on cnc yet ask him though i will later
Thats the only problem mate...
i dont know how to fit the material into the backing or get the existing material out of the backing i would want to use : /
-
Nope, they are made by 'Alex Dark' on here.
Ok then cheers mate ill ask him on MSN
Do they come in CNC backings or plastic?
Also How much are they?
-
dark pads!!
Are they Phat pads?
-
TNN CRM pads from Tartybikes.
One of my mates has got them but they dont seem that good : /
Maybe because he is running them on a smooth rim?
-
I dont know what pads to get please can give me some feedback and vote to which pad you think are the best...
I dont know if those are the right Coust pads, im thinking of the green ones with the CNC backing are those good for a grind?
-
Its getting there Jordan
Should have my bike built again soon
Now take back all the bad things you said about disk's , because there greatI thought you were taking your GCSEs early Jack and you still dont know your 'theres/theirs/they're'

The only problem with FSA pig headsets is the bottom bearing are unsealed : /
so when it comes to changing the headset to another frame they falll out if your not careful (easily replaced though)
im saying this as it happens to me everytime i change my headset to a different frame (keep forgetting, lol)
hope this helped
-
It's about the same as mine then. Mine is about 1040-1050mm ish.
Make sure your measuring the wheelbase correctly
middle of front axle, to middle of rear axle
my python long came up as a 1045mm which is correct (as it was the 07 one)
-
well the final nail in the coffin was a fair big gap up but its been naccerd for ages
Your lucky i didnt happen while you were riding
you would have surely eaten sh*t if it did
-
You can get a grinder from argos for £12.50 (i use one)
i use the diamond and titanium disc on it though (bought seperately, form a DIY store) the disc cost £25 but its worth it because it wont fray
like some of the other ones do

I made a deal with ZHI-sam on here about swapping BBs...
i sent my one to him on monday and he informed me that he had recieved it on tuesday (which is always good to hear)
he said that he hadnt got his one sent to me on monday because he was with his GF which is fair enough
he PM'd me on tuesday saying it had been sent and should be with me by wednesday or thursday....
the BB is still not here and i need it to build my bike up : /
i have PM'd him Twice since then to ask him if he has sent it but i have had no reply, and i have seen that he has been online since i had sent him the PMs...
if anyone knows Zhi-sam in real life or can contact him by telephone then please can u give me any info on where i stand in reieving the BB?
I think this is fair as i sent him the BB as by the promised date and he informed me he recieved this but i have recieved nothing in return...
Many Thanks to any help possible
Jamie
If you see this sam it isnt a rant about you it is more an enquiry just to know when i am going to get the bb

Looks sick man!
You should leave it white just change little parts to purple
They all add up in the end
-
(HUGE crank arms = heavy and putting alot of wait on).
You will probably find Nic that those try-all cranks arms are lighter than most cranks arms despite their size
ill have a look now...
they're the second lightest cranks after the middleburns (on tarty anyway )
-
I'd give that some quick pimp-hand slap... Sorted.
Nothing to worry about
-
Rather nice i have to say
sooo is this one of the brand new deng frames then?

If you have no problems with the amount of money then you should get a King!
and then buy an ISO disc hub shell for it and get the internals changed over
Then you have a Amazing hub with a 10 year warrantee and also you can buy everything you need for a King from Tarty
