Brilliant weekend.
Well done to everyone involved in organising it and making it happen.
Such a great bunch of people to hang out with. I think Adam nailed it when he said, "trials feels like a community again".
Some AMAZING riding went down - very inspiring stuff. I was psyched to be a part of such a great event. Looking forward to Mark's video.
the guy behind the microphone did a very good job at commentating (i know how hard work that is speaking from experience) defo a good vibe an everybody was very friendly!
Thanks That means a lot because I - like you - don't find it an easy job either!

Well done Mr. Rowlands and thanks very much Mr. Travis.
It probably goes without saying that I thought the use of the zoom was very particularly innovative and perfectly legitimate [/joke]
Peace

When's it gonna be on this year? Gonna find an excuse to come over and watch this time seen as it's not far from me.
Great it's the 31st May - 2nd June.
I'll keep updating this page with details too:

Falling off with a smile on my face is what I'm hired to do
True. The best in the business without question.
The ginger helps the white of your teeth really show through
Thanks to those of you who provide feedback - I'm glad some people liked the video.
I'll be starting to sort out the rider list for Bikefest 2013 soon so if the video made you want to get involved then keep an eye out.
Carl, you'll be first name down on the list IF you promise not to eat my share of the burgers

Park at (or near) the railway station.
Go through the subway (under the tracks) onto the sea front and there is loads of riding stretching all the way along the sea front.
-
Yeah!
Penmanmawr at midday?
It's got rocks, street and a skate park.... EVERYTHING.

Lengthy interview up with Ben Rowlands about the GETcreative comp and more. Get yo read on. Link's in the sig (hopefully)...
I really enjoyed reading the whole interview. Thanks for sharing.
Mark: ". . . People almost want that instant gratification of a video of themselves up ASAP..."
Ben: "...we live in a culture that shuns patience"
Amongst other points you both made, this particularly resonated with me

Aran Cook and I started filming but got kicked off our spot by an angry person - pah!
We'll try again tomorrow at a different spot.
We have now come up with something relatively controversial, which may get us disqualified, but we are going to do it.
However, we re-read the 'rules' and think it's worth at least trying our new method and seeing if it is OK by the judges.
Peace

cool, cheers for that, those darn slippery logs got the better of me.
Thanks for the cool event again though, I still enjoyed myself up until that point
No worries
I think it looks pretty tame, but it was an awkward break that took 8 weeks in cast and another 4 weeks in a moon boot support thing but it took about 10 months until I could walk without a limp.
Certainly doesn't look tame to me! For injuries like that it sucks how tiny bones in the feet and hands often take longer to heal that big clean-breaks
-
10 months... That's bad I wouldn't be able to stop riding for that long.
Yeah but he kept on doing trials!

Sure, I don't think it's that spectacular, but I'd be interested in seeing it
Here you go Ali.
The clips of your foot-breaking-crash are uploading now
They'll be on the following link on Youtube in about an hour:
It made me cringe to watch the footage back, it was bad enough being stood 10 foot away when it happened.

Thanks for the positive feedback, thumbs up to Nick G!
cool stuff Mat, was nice to see a lot of stuff I missed, some pretty big riding went down. I was hoping you had filmed my foot snapping on that drop....oh well.
That is caught on tape but I didn't think you'd want to be reminded of it so I didn't include it! Want to see it?
So good. What a perfect weekend that was.
Glad you had a great time.

This is raw unedited footage from Tarty Days all the way back in 2011.
It's never been seen before as it's been stuck on my hard drive all this time.
Nick Goddard filmed it but never had the time to edit it, so here it is, raw.
It features lots of different riders and different styles (Abc of first name):
Ali Clarkson,
Andrei Burton,
Aurélien Fontenoy,
Ben Rowlands,
Euan Beaden,
Jack Meek,
Joe Maher,
John Shrewsbury,
Neil Tunnicliffe,
Rick Koekoek,
Sam Oliver
(and many more)
Can I take this chance to say, once again, a big thank you to each and every person who helped me with this event.- 4

I'm sat with Aran on the couch in my living room and he's eating the chocolate I got for my birthday.
He's regaling (I like that word) me with tails of his most recent Canadian and US adventures.
So...
I thought this video needed resurrecting.
Bosh.

I've been dirt jumping, I thought it was fine with rigid to be honest.
Absolutely.
With that in mind, I should have pointed out that the reason I use sus forks is purely a consequence of having knackered ligaments in my hand.
After all...
-
i'm intreged by this! is everything else standard bar the forks? did you do anything to the gear ratio?
cheers liam
I have a 22 tooth up front and then 2 cogs at the back (spaced out on a chris king single speed hub)
The two cogs are 15T (trials) and 12T (skatepark, jumps etc).
With the Trialtech tensioner it is a really quick and easy job to manually switch between the two gears dependent on the style of riding I am doing.
Peace.

does anyone use one for dirt jumping??
I run my Inspired Fourplay team with 80mm sus forks and love it for trials as well as dirt jumping and pump tracks.
See: http://matt-barlow.com/matt-barlow/news/spring-dust/
The bottom bracket of an Inspired Fourplay is obviously higher than a 'traditional' dirt-jump geometry but I think if you're used to it then it's not a hindrance.

Cool pics Carl. Looks like you're really getting on with the brakeless Inspired.
Will you riding the Woodfest demos brakeless this year!?!
(With that in mind, get your diary out. I've just started discussions with the organisers regarding Woodfest 2012. Dates are June 2-4th June. I'll pm you in the next few weeks with more info as I have it.)

You could always use 9:16 as Paul Higginson did in this interesting experiment:
(Shared for general artistic interest rather than a serious suggestion that 9:16 will ever be generically favoured over 4:3 and 16:9)

Any idea on when the Skye will be in stock?
Ooh I read that wrong and got a bit too excited for a second:
I thought when you used the word 'stock' you meant '26 inch', and you knew something I didn't
I thought "Oooh sweet - Inspired are also doing a 26" version of the Skye with disc tabs and bolt through axels!!"
ah well....
(The Skye Danny was on at the Red Bull Street Light Sessions looked amazing! Some really cool tweaks and ideas have been implemented)

Cheers mate - that Inspired ice cream was yuuuuuummm (Thanks Ben Swales!)
Both of these things were legendary and have just made me chuckle to myself thinking back to it!
