  1. Don't know if it's me, but 1st column, 7th row, the guy on the red mod, when I click the thumbnail it takes me to a totally different picture of a guy on a silver monty on a log?

    Well spotted, thanks!

Row 7, Col 1, is now Adam Bessell on the Silver Stock

and Row 14, Col 4 is now Joe Maher on the Red Mod

  2. Some of the pictures wont go full sized for me. first one is pic 5. anyone else get this?

The improvments and contribute pages on the "new to 2011" bit doesn't go anywhere but Ive seen you did this over the weekend so maybe thats just content to be added.

    Site looks great anyways (Y)

Looking forward to the brakeless section Matt ^_^

Thanks for the heads up on those things!

The 10 faulty pictures were uploaded as .JPG not.jpg and that is sorted now. The two blank pages I have removed.

    Cheers Carl!

  3. It looks fantastic!

I love how tried and tested elements of the Fourplay have been (improved then) implemented for the Hex.

The colour is sweet and the seat tube length looks perfect to slam the seat and get it right out of the way.

From the whispers and rumours I heard regarding the geo I was already very excited about the Hex. Better still is that the final tweaks would suggest it'll suit me even more.

This is going to be big. Ali - super smooth riding as always.

  4. I need to contact Ste, I have his hoody which he left at Tarty Days, can any one help me out please?

On the right here with Grey hoody on under his helmet:

    One here without said hoody:

  5. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR THE OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE FEEDBACK.

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to contribute to this topic.

Tarty Days 2010 has been and gone and there are already calls for a Tarty Days2011.

This year's event was to test the water and get a feel for the interest in a multi-day UK trials festival.

We've waited until now to discuss 2011 because to go forward with the festival it needed all of the following parties to express their desire to see the eventto happen again:

    Riders: You lot

    Sponsors: Tarty Bikes, Inspired, Trial-tech

Organiser: Me (or someone else willing to take the event forward)

Course builders: The Oak Frame Company

    Land owner: Local farmer

It would appear at this stage that all five parties are keen to make improvements on what was a great event this year and see it happen again.

Sounds like people are suggesting the following....

    KEEP THE SAME:

    - The showers, toilets, parking and camping facilities

    - The amount of firewood

    - The evening BBQ

    - Bonfires [To some extent this will HAVE TO change. We can still have the seemingly limitless supply of fire wood but it needs to be focused on ONE bonfire not multiple like this year (there were seven scorched fire rings in the farmer'sfield and this was seemingly the only qualm he had with the entire event). I don't see having one big fire being a problem, it might actually be really good for the atmosphere (which was amazing this year) to all gather round one huge fire rather than be split up into smaller groups. If the numbers for 2011 are so large that a single fire is impractical then we'll simply use multiple steel fire troughs so as not to scorch the land.]

    IMPROVEMENTS:

    - More beginner & intermediate level riding objects – No problem

    - More street type stuff – No problem

    - A stall with spares – It will be discussed, there was very good reasons it didn't happen this year (See Ali's reply).

    - Location – It's already been said that with the current organisation team the location in non-negotiable. I agree it would be great to see more of these type events all over the UK so maybe someone will organise one in a big city. On that note however I do believe that a contributing factor to the success of this event was in no small part due to the location itself. Set in the beautifulvale of Cwlyd in North Wales it was a great place to camp and hang out together and enjoy being miles away from any huge cities. (Plus all the other benefits of the current location that people have mentioned already)

    - Dates – We'll announce the dates much earlier this time around so that people can plan to attend in advance. Unfortunately, as Mark already pointed out, thedates are pretty much set by the land owner and therefore we can't move the event to avoid any clashes. To be honest, in the summer months it'll nearlyalways clash with something so it's a matter of prioritising Tarty Days aboveabsolutely ANYTHING else!

    - Helmets – Sagar has a really good point about helmets and indeed they will be mandatory next time around.

    Please discuss this...

    NEW STUFF:

    1. Live bands:

Get a stage set up (marquee for adverse weather) and have evening parties with live music and a beer tent. Also, live music throughout the day whilst the riding happens.

    2. Public event:

The costs would increase for public liability insurance (and a whole host of other logistical nightmares) but we could make it a public event for people to come and listen to the music (if that happens) and watch the riding.

    3. Welsh Cycling Coaching:

If it is a public event that Welsh Cycling have expressed interest in using the event to introduce riders to trials specifically and mountain biking ingeneral. This could take the form of coaching and skills workshops.

    4. Comps:

Best trick comp again (i.e. best single move), freestyle trials runs, scored by judges on creativity, fluidity, etc (i.e best two minute run), speed trials, etc etc

    --------------------

p.s. My fault about the delay with the Inspired Tee's. I didn't get the 'winners' list off to Dave & Jon for a week or so after the event. Has everyone received them now?

    Finally...

Can I just say again THANK YOU to everyone for SUCH positive feedback.

I was fairly (read as very) nervous about undertaking the organisation of an event like this but to get such an overwhelmingly supportive feedback is brilliant.

Also, one last time, can I thank everyone else who made it possible – TartyBikes, Inspired, Trial-tech, The Oak Frame Company, Restore Sports Massage, First Aid Team (Gaz & Netty), and everyone who helped me – CHEERS

  6. Partz you legend, great video (plus 79 other crackers!)

Guess the climbing bug has really bit you! I'm looking forward to getting out route climbing with you soon.

By the way, for what it's worth, I don't think it'll be your last trials video.

You were still shredding at the Woodfest demos this year so don't put the bike down altogether (it's great training for climbing)

  7. I absolutely LOVE the pic of Nick Manning's 'star jump face plant dismount' and the camp fire pictures

Any chance I could use some of the images for Tarty Days promo? If so, I'll obviously give you photo credit if you want it; what do you want it to say? (name / name & website / name and email?)

  8. Love the pics!

Especially the one of Dan's front flip!

Looking forward to you posting the rest of your images.

    -------

I asked this in another Tarty Days pictures post so I'll ask you the same Martin:

Can I use some of the high-res images from Flickr for promo? If so, I'll obviously give you photo credit if you want it; what do you want it to say? (name / name & website / name and email?)

  9. Great pictures and good to meet you both over the weekend.

Can I use some of the high-res images from Flickr for promo? If so, I'll obviously give your girlfriend photo credit; what do you want it to say? (name / name & site / name and email?)

I'm glad you're up for the idea of Tarty Days 2011!!

  10. Really sums up the weekend :)

Yeah totally agree, gives a really good flavour of the event.

    Some amazing pictures!

The atmosphere that every single person helped create was brilliant - I'm still buzzing from an awesome few days (and still knackered!)

  11. Thanks to matt (even though he chased me ripping my banner off the van, :) your actually quite scary when angry lol) thanks to the sponsors and to the wood company for helping making this weekend happen, had such a good weekend can't wait for next year.

I must say the van got sooo many looks on the way home with the banners :) thanks for them :)

    tarty002.jpg

Good to see that you got the banner fixed back on alright! Still makes me chuckle when I remember chasing your van across the field because I thought you were stealing the banners. Sorry for nearly giving you heart failure when I grabbed hold of you - oops!

  12. What an amazing three days.

I knew I’d be gutted not to be riding due to my hand injury http://tinyurl.com/37ga5o3 but I didn’t quite realise how gutted I would be! Across the whole weekend the only riding I did was a solitary crossing of the water balance beam (One for the oldies aye Tarty?) and even that caused my hand to swell and bruise up again – pah!

Still it meant I got to chat to a lot more people than I otherwise would have done. It was great to catch up with old friends and make new ones.

For those that asked my facebook is http://www.facebook.com/slowprogress

A few people give MASSIVE thanks to...

Firstly, Adam at http://www.tartybikes.co.uk and Dave at http://www.inspiredbicycles.com, for making the event financially viable.

    Also for supplying prizes for the water balance beam comp;

    Failed crossing = Inspired Tee

    Successful crossing = Tarty Multi-tool

    Best trick = Inspired hoody

Wee Dan beat some other pretty amazing tricks to take the best trick with a front flip bail.

Dave, I’m not sure if you do hoodies in extra extra small do you!?!?!

Secondly, Simon and Paula and the rest of the Woodfest crew http://www.woodfestwales.co.uk.

They built an amazing rig, put on amazing food for us and supplied us with quite a lot (!!) of fire wood. Netty and Gaz patched up injured riders all weekend and helped out with everything too.

I think it’d be great if each and everyone one of us would send them a short email simply saying thank-you (especially if you want to see this happen again):

    info@woodfestwales.co.uk

Thirdly, everyone who helped me out (you know who you all are) which was basically anyone you saw in an Tarty/Inspired Tee with ‘crew’ on the back.It wouldn’t have run smoothly without you.

Paul from http://www.restoresportsmassage.co.uk fixed a lot of people over the weekend too. If you’re feeling better after a treatment then why not drop him a thank-you paul@restoresportsmassage.co.uk

Finally, to everyone who came, thank you!

The atmosphere was amazing – just what I’d hoped and planned.

Having people travel from literally all over the UK was really special.

After a couple of gentle reminders there were no issues with the field being wrecked by people doing donuts. Also every bin was full and the field was very tidy so I think we’ve done as well as we could to try and get another invite from the land owner (Simon and Paula do not own the land, we rented it from someone else).

So I take it that people are keen for a Tarty Days 2011?

    Watch this space!

    Peace

    Barlow

    -------------

    Lost and found:

Matt Burrows - we’ll try our best to get that back.

Other: 1 hoody, 1 SD memory card, 1 Multi-tool. Just email me and I’ll post them to you.

  13. I shall try get a demo of the site up in the next couple of days, so you know what I'm selling haha ;)

Very interesting idea but I'd find it difficult to vote before seeing the actually product you are offering (i.e. the demo site).

I look forward to checking this out in a few days time.

    --------------

    Edit:

Made my post at the same time you put your screen shots up - typical!

  14. I know this is going to sound silly but if I was to put my BMX in, do you think doing the water gap would be on?

Yes! (or at least it would be amazing to watch you try)

    ----------------

Some (lots!) of images of the Woodfest 2010 demos. This rig will form the basis of the Tarty Days arena - there will be more low-level stuff added as well.
