  1. Looks like I don't have to tell you but . . . . . . the friend isn't good at building wheels!!!!! Try to tension the spokes if you really can't afford the bike shop. And ask if he has putt the same length spokes in each side?? and if he has it needs a rebuild, if he has put shorter in the drive side then it's a start. just have to hope they are the right length. Here's a guid to sort your wheel out a BIT so a little rideable (well alot more than it as at the mo)

If you have a spoke key then sit down in a chair with the bike in front of you pointing away

put the spoke key in your right hand pick the spoke next to the valve and place the key on it. Twist the wheel so it's at the top.

Now this sounds funny but push with your thumb and pull with your fingers (if looking over the top down it would be clockwise), thats tightening the spoke.

Do this to all the spokes one by one round the wheel by half a turn, this should tighten the wheel up!! Stop the pedal brake thing.

Now this is a crude way of doing it but now start at the valve at the top again and only half turn all the drive side spokes (cog side).

This should stop the wheel hitting the left side.

Please note this is only temperary till you can get it in a bike shop.

i have a brand new chain.

so when it stretches it should bring my maggy into the perfect place i rekon.

    try snail cams too matee.

    iolo

AAAAaaaagggghhhh nuts I meant Snail cams not chain tuggs, had a Dmr trailstar old habbits die hard.

  3. I was sure i heard someone say that an ashton uses the same as an echo pure 05 or a control 05??

Post a pic of the hanger (frint and back) and if anyone knows they can let you know.

Was sure its the same as an echo one though.

I had a mk1 ashton, and yes they are the one in the same hangers as the echo 05's

  4. Hi I've got one of those lovely horzontal dropouts that solve the problem of rear mech. I've got the sugested 18 15 ratio.

So it starts out fine with chain tugs about half way round, had to movethem once or twice and thought nothing of it as chains stretch.

But it's gone so far that now the chain tugs are at the end of there travel and the chain is now slack!!!!! Is this normal? am I meant to take another link out as this has happened to two chains now( Thought the first one might have benn a bit crap or something) Please any help would be good even if it's someone I can contact to find out.

    Cheers SY

  5. ok i have been off trials for a while cos my brakes havent been working one of then is snaped and the other one just needs bleed

so i was looking today at the forum and saw that you could bleed with water so i tried it Pump the brake 200+ times and quess what they still dont work

now i am doing it right i got the brake and the leaver under water i take off the 2 bleed bolts and start to pump when i get to 200 time i put the bleed bolts on still under water is that right???

Hi well would work but if you hav a bleed kit then do it normally.

(1)Put the syringe, tube, and bolt in the bottom bleed nut then push the water through till nearly about half way up the syringe.

(2)Then start tapping the cable and pistons for about a min with a spanner, this will vibrate the air to the top (lever end).

(3)Start pushing the syringe again till it's nearly out of water.

    (4)Do the lever blt up

(5)disconnect the syringe from the piston

(6)do the bolt up on the piston

(7)Then pull the lever and hope!!!!!

If this works then it's ok obviously, but if no go you need a new bit somewhere.

  6. Hayes cables are rubbish, if you want to run a cable disk use an avid bb7. i run the 185mm rotor and my friend runs the 205mm. they work really good! but i recommend using ebc red pads.

Thank you fellers for the info, never run cable discs before so a bit green on whats good and whats french.

  7. :o So nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I want one

Do they ride any diferent withe 116mm dropouts

Only that you don't have the old favorite of knocking the rear mech off. otherwise not really as the tyre and rim are the same with so the contact to ground is the same.

Maybe a smidge less time to engage as there is no slack inbetween pedal strocks that you can get on rear mechs when your backpedal then engage but not that you would really notice. Sy

  8. I've bought the echo brake and it is all good, but only get one if you got a wad of cash itching in your pocket as the other guy said!! or you brake your maggie. but they have a better pad movment as you don't have to have them so close to the rim. cos of the smaller piston in it for greater pad to lever movement. But I have to say there is one down point!!!!! buy longer screws for it as they are to short and thread your frame if your not carefull, or better still keep your maggie ones. Sy

  9. Hi am new to this forum B) , was hoping some dudes ride around my area?, as no-one rides trials around in east sussex.

Thats a lie cos I'm in east sussex, Hastings to be precise. But you are right there aren't alot I know of down here. But I've only moved down here about a year ago.

Hastings/Bexhill is a good place to ride, Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells, Where abouts you from anyway and I should be able to tell where's good in your area as I like traveling to new areas to ride. SY

  10. The whole lot cost me a bit under 1000 but I build and put together everything myself, also the hub and headset were from the us only cost me £265 for the both instead of here it costs £480 bit of difference. Wish I could ponce on here to see if anyone has a avid ultimate set for sale but I don't think your allowed are you until you upgrade from pre-trials can you? and yes cheers I do mean 116mm. SY

  11. 03072007141.jpg03072007143.jpgHere she is for one and all to see only took about 6 weeks of waitng for bits, any comments would be good. WEll I hope it comes out as it's not on my screen. It's the new 2007 zoo pitbull short 166mm on king bmx rear, and echo rear hydro, the rest you can make out I think. SYOk so no it's not how do you put pics from your computer on here help please and I'll update. SY p.s. thank you up'n'away!!!!
  12. Im considering buyin sum new hubs but there the onli thing i dnt know anything about on a bike <_< what should i look 4 and what makes them better than others. please help ;)(Y)

Hi the thing that makes a hub better or worse is the amount of claws and pick up's they have (Just think of a ratchett, they work identical). The more claws they have the stronger the engagement, and the more pick up's they have the quicker they engage. A few examples is the hope mono is 32 engagement, the bulb is 38, and the pro 2 is 42. All hope hubs have 3 claws.

Now the Chris Kings work a bit differently they are closer to a car clutch in design. but this also gives them the abbility to put a 72 engagement on them. This is why they are alot more money but near instant engagement. This has probably confused you more, but hopefully should give you an idea how they work and what queations to ask

  13. Was that directed at me? and you cannot buy rear king hus for £260, the cheapest is £289

Hi If you want anything Chris King then go to ebay and click worldwide sellers, type Chris King. A company called "Aspire Velotech" is 100% realible and will help on the import tax by putting a slightly lowered value on the invoice. I bought a BMX king hub and headset for £265 ( Tarty Bless them they are gods but would cost you nearly £500 from them) they only put £22 on the box so no tax. The postage is free as well, If still worried have a look at feed back. SY

  14. Hello people!! I'm thinking of buying one of these lovely little things and just wondering if any ine out there has got one? what Are the strengths and weeknesess e.g. Ease on the front wheel and how good for gapping. Would appreciate all the info I can get cheers SY

  15. Now A while back I saw a design for one of these things for those of us who enjoy crossing the street/trials thing and I've always thought it was a good Idea, just didn't know anyone who was making one till now! ! does anyone know if they have been properly built yet? Sy

  16. They are all good as they make for a stiffer feel to the brake. But be sure you get the right width booster e.g. Ashtons need a standered width and koxx require a R and B booster which is wider. which frame have you got and is it for a v-brake or maggie?
