  1. This is an old moto trials video, but in my opinion it is the best trials video ever made. Jordi Tarres is a 7 time moto trials world champion who inspired may BikeTrial riders. As it is the 25th anniversary of his first World Championship I decided to upload the video, and ensure such an iconic part of the history of our sport is online. Hope you like it! John
  2. I work in Huddersfield I finish work at 16:30 most nights let me know if you want to ride the city centre as I need to explore. John
  3. Riders, Take a look at the following T-shirt concept. The concept is my design. Adam from Tartybikes likes the concept and wants to see feedback from the trials community regarding if it will be a viable product for Tartybikes. Please show you interest and leave constructive feedback below. I do not want this to turn into a topic debating the abilities of the various riders included and not included. Pricing information and colours are dependant on interest. I hope you enjoy the concept and if you don't recognise any of the names you do a bit of research on some of Biketrials and Moto Trials all time great riders. John Evans
  4. People, Whilst digging through VHS archives for my recent ride down memory lane video, I found this old faithful clip of Ot. I can honestly say back in 93 that video was nothing short of mind blowing, it was the first time I saw Ot embarrass Legends like Jordi Tarres by being able to ride over things they couldn't, needless to say I watched the tape once or twice. Hope you like the retro! John
  5. Hi everybody, Some of you may remember me from a few years back? I disappeared from the sport at the beginning of 2008 to concentrate on building a career and other grown up stuff. I have just spent a year travelling the world and I realised I really missed riding my bike. I now live in Leeds and I am really looking forward to familiarising myself with all the amazing natural spots to ride. Over the years I collected various video clips and photos. At the time I decided these weren’t good enough to make a video with, however in 2008 I began making this video but never got around to finishing it. Upon return from my travels I decided to finish my trip down memory lane. I have posted it on the web because I feel it tells a story and captures a period in the history of the sport. Some of the older riders amongst you may recognise competition footage and the shocking fashions! So I am now riding again for fun, in an out of section style. If anyone out there wants to ride in Leeds / natural in Yorkshire let me know. It’s about 10 minutes long so get comfy and it’s my first ever video so don’t be too critical with your comments. John Evans
  6. Guys I was asked to post this on here by Carlos Diaz. Benitos Statement I hope it is of interest. Regards John
  7. Well Done Danny, I know your very happy to have this deal from Atomz as there we other good riders who also wanted it. Atomz not only chose you but gave you your own promodel ! I know you have wanted your own pro model for a long time. Ill probably see you ride at the dirt bike show this weekend. Congratulations John
  8. Hi guys, All good efforts, he was mine... Pic There was alot more which wasnt in shot. I had to dismantle and remove it all recently which was a shame. Danny Butler has a pretty good back garden course.
  9. Me and Bango did a Onza demo at Parkhall Live music festival in Ilkeston last weekend. Our photo was taken by a photographer who worked for the Derby Telegraph. He said that our picture would be in Saturday the 1st of Septembers paper! Is our picture in the paper? if so could you please scan it in and email it to me. Thanks John Evans
  10. Guys thanks for your comments, Im glad you seem to like the photos. Mr Trial Dude, My chain was swapped over from another bike rather quickly for a demo i may shorten the chain at a later date. Dave33, I to thought that the BB rise on a Limey was around 10mm however on my bike as it is built now the rise is measured at a couple of mm above zero, i dont know why this is! Onza Joe, yeah my bike is fine now after all the stress of trying to get it ready for the Parkhall demo, thanks for your help! The location of the photos is not something I wish to disclose on here for numerous reasons, however the criptic clue I will give is that it is near a town called Leak. Guys the helmet can be found on the following site. http://www.prendas.co.uk/list.asp?typ=typ&...&thumb=Show John
  11. Due to the second Dual prototype being returned to the factory for analysis, I have built up a Limey2. Along with Onza, Dave & Dan Butler I was part of the development team behind the frame, this was my first proper outing on the bike and I was massivley impressed. The spec is below. My new helmet is a Catlike Whisper which I really like I thought id a a close up for you guys. 12. Guys, Regarding the Dual. There are only two prototypes in existance I have both of them as part of the development work I am doing with Onza regarding the frame. The first prototype is being ridden by my brother Gerard. I am awaiting a third prototype which should have several minor alterations as per my recomendations. I will post pictures when I get the frame and start to test it. For the time being you will have to make do with these six photos from a few weeks ago. Regards John Evans The 2 remaining pics
  13. Just got back from day 1. Today trial was very good. 3Laps 6 sections UCI format Dave has made a section out of skips, sleepers and cable reels in the car park area, which was mega! The only problem was with the very low entry. Come on lads if you have any desire for YMSA events to take place get you asses to the events otherwise the club will be forced into closure. Tommorrows trial are on the same sections but in the reverse direction. Should be another good trial. Note the results for both days are seperate, so if you want to ride tommorrow pop down to Bracken Rocks I recomend it ! Hopefully see some of you there John
  14. Information for you all to read. This is they way things are. They cant be changed. Pull together and behave like adults who love trials. I for one would love to see a fully united BikeTrial UK commity with NBTC and Tyketrial back at the table. Subject: Re: BIU delegate Date: Mon, 19 Mar 2007 15:19:40 +0900 Dear Mr. Deeks Sorry for the delay of my answer. There are so many mails about UK domestic matters and it was not easy to comment as the BIU to see the true. Any way congratulations to be the UK delegate. Sincerely yours, Hiroshi Hirano BIU EUROPEAN BIKETRIAL UNION U Splavu 1419, 684 01 Slavkov u Brna, Czech Republic To: BikeTrial United Kingdom Copy to: Hiroshi Hirano, B.I.U. President; E.B.U. delegates; Dear Sir or Madam, 1. According to Statutes of the European BikeTrial Union the member in Great Britain is BikeTrial United Kingdom (BTUK) under Auto-Cycle Union Limited (ACU). There is absolutely no legal justification for changing this organization as the E.B.U. member. 2. We have noted the 24th of February meeting of the BTUK and have the official minutes that were confirmed by ACU General Secretary. The E.B.U. Committee has no other choice – it must accept this document! 3. European BikeTrial Union accepts the conclusions from the meeting with following commentary: A. It is necessary to drop the UCI Penalty rules from the ACU handbook as soon as possible. Until that is done a notice must be made that the UCI rules are not legitimate for B.I.U. events. B. EBU requires that British national championships be run entirely according to BIU rules and from the championships will be selected the British national team for European and World BikeTrial Championships. C. As stated previously, we advise that it would be very beneficial if BTUK and UCI in the United Kingdom were separated soon and completely. D. We understand that a BikeTrial United Kingdom Constitution is being established. E.B.U. will get a copy as soon as possible. E. The E.B.U. committee stresses the requirement that there must be established a voting procedure that is democratic in the strictest meaning of the concept. It is the only way to avoid these conflicts in the future. We would like to request further that BTUK continues to invite and encourage the two clubs associated with Fred Savage and Barbara Wright to participate in its events and activities. Both of these people have contributed greatly to BikeTrial over the years. Best Regards, On behalf of the E.B.U Committee Libor Musil E.B.U. President Slavkov u Brna, 18/03/2007
  15. Fred, I stand by what I have said. As far as Iam aware Phil Tupman is the secutary of the BikeTrial UK commity. I have been told Barbera resigned at the last comitty meeting. I assure you I did speak with Roger on Monday briefly and Tuesday morning. I have spoken with Roger this evening briefly at no point did he tell me he had a problem with what I have said or that I had missrepresented our disscussion. His message does not massivly contradict my own. I have taken on board what he has posted but most of it we had discussed earlier in the week. My reasons for getting involved in this issue is to ensure that it is discussed and that the truth is found. Yes Rob Poyser is my friend and I still think he should have a ride. The team has been selected it cant / wont be changed. This is my opinion for what it is worth. John Evans
  16. As both A rider and Team Manager who has riden at Two UCI World Championships and numerous World Cups I feel the need to enter into this topic. I have dealt with Roger Wilbraham from British Cycling many times regarding events and entries. I spoke with him on Tuesday morning. Below is a summary of what was said. He decided that due to the event being held in the UK there would be increased interest from UK riders instead of just the UCI faithfull. As Roger knows very little about Trials and the UK riders he asked the BikeTrial UK commity to select a team. As you know Fred posted the information as detailed in the other thread. Interested riders posted their froms to Mick Skriven [b]The Following people chose this team. Not the BikeTrial UK commity as was Roger Wilbraham intention or British Cycling as claimed by Fred Savage in this topic or the other thread. Fred Savage George Eyre Mick Skriven Barbera Wright I have spoke to the BikeTrial UK secutary the BikeTrial UK commity have never discussed UCI team selection. I do not know why this contradiction has occured but I assure the readers of Trials Forum this is 100% genuine. I for one would like to know why the the readers and riders of this forum have been misslead. I believe the way this process has been handled is disgracefull. I also believe that Rob Poyser should have been in the squad over and above some of the riders on that list! I am not trying to cause trouble but the UK public should know what is going on and who is really making the decisisions. John Evans
  17. The forks are echo Hi Fi that I used to run on my Coust. The pallets have been built up over many years I had an arrangement with the local fruit and veg man at the market. Bassically he let me hve them if I could shift em. Other bits and pieces have found there way in as well. We are always changing the layout around. The sign on the penultimate picture is a personal joke I put on there. It reads "really make it have it!" which is a Martin Lampkin Quote and underneath it has the different names for jap slap which is what that 8stack of pallets is for im trying to learn to hook/ japslap 8 pallet. Its a motivational thing I was going to write stop being a pussy and pedal but I doubt that would have gone down well! I didnt design this frame I am just testing it and surgesting developements to improve it. This is a very light bike with competion orientated geometry. You will have to ask Onza why they are trying this shape. To reiterate what I said before i like the way it rides, it is extremely fickable and light which makes it extremely controlable. Futher constructive comments welcome.
  18. Guys, As promised here are some shots of the prototype "dual" in action (more to follow). It feels very nice indeed, exceptionally flickable and light. Geometry is the same as the limey2 so its got a +20mm bb and a long wheelbase, the major difference being the weight and shape. I think only minor alterations will be needed to strengthen the bb yoke. Shots are taken in my back garden and in the local town of Wellington. Any constructive comments are welcome, I have a full time job as well as a life i will check back here when I can. Enjoy John A few more for your viewing pleasure.
  19. Yes Tis I John Evans on the dual. I have been tasked with the development of that frame whilst continueing to aid Danny, Dave and Onza with future developments to the limey. In time I will post pictures of the dual. Joe next time we ride I will let you have a play.
  20. As I have been unable to ride this year could you please send me a copy of the above information please. Regards John Evans EDIT Sorry I didnt make myself clear as I was rushing, Barbera could I please be added to the postal mailing list, as I may have been taken off as I didnt hold a BikeTrial License this year.
  21. As I have now recovered from my wrist injury. I will be competeing in the 2007 UCI world cups I would like to ride the World Championships at Fort William. I would be willing to lend a hand regarding the management of the team as this is something I have experience of (Les Gets and Livigno and World Cups). Could someone please post the selection criteria. I know other national teams are based off primarily the current UCI world rankings and then UCI national series results. John Evans

    .~

Right lad, Speaking as someone who has just recovered (fingers croosed) from a similair sounding injury I recomend the following. Going to your local GP tell him exactly what the problem is tell / show him what trials is (take a CD in if nessasary). I have been out since November with a tear / perferation to the cartlidge in between the small bones in my wrist. I had to have an operation. If your GP tells you to rest and take ibuprophen for a couple of weeks tell him to go f*ck himself. If you have no joy with your GP go to an osteopath they can ussually put you intouch with a specialst. You may need a MRI scan and these arent cheap! Regards John Evans
  23. You only need a UCI liscence if you want to do international events such as world cups and the like. At which point you need to join British cycling and get your competition licesnse and insurance .... if your over 18 it ussually works out at £60 odd quid for silver membership. You dont need a calendar. From memory silver membership is lowest grade you can get if you want to do international events. The difference betwwen gold and silver is the insurance stuff. Any dramas or futher questions just email me, John Evans Great Britain Trials Team Manager
  24. I had to go see my doctor obout this recently, I would recomend you do the same however I belief he will recommend that you, take anti inflamitries , strap up and rest the wrist for a number of weeks. best to take time off now and sort it properly than to have it stop you riding / seroius injury later in the year. hope that helps!
  25. I seem to remember that trial being down in south shropshire. It was ran south Shropshire by Fred Savage. He held a couple of events in that general area over a couple of years. Dont think there would be much to train on if its the place me and Chris are thinking of. However I could be wrong, If I get time i might delve in to my BikeTrial achieve and find out! Rugog farm was 2002 and yes I was one the Saturday night downhill riders... I remember finishing 1st and 2nd in the two races ....top event.
