Please do not hit with a spanner, a hammer, a screwdriver, or just put it all together and tighten till it pushes it down. Hitting with a block of wood is prob the best being that the material is much more forgiving on your crown race, out of all those options, but by al means just go and buy a tube the right size and then you will have one for as long as you ride. If you keep rigging tools for your bike, the parts WILL eventually fail, and then we get a post on here "why did my headset explode, Chris King sucks....etc...." when its the users fault. Putting the race on and tightening is THE WORST idea ever. Fook the whole headset up that way, and if you get lucky, maybe ovalize the headtube. Congrats. Do it right. Get the tool or just buy a pipe the right diameter. Cant be more than a few $$$....

well when you send a cracked body in with apparent wrong lacing, and trials abuse ( notched freehub body, ringdrive and spring foooked, etc) they are going to know it was used for trials. and guess what. that voids the warranty. so if you lace it correctly and dont abuse it, then you, if it has a crack and they cant (assume) that you used it for trials, then you, they are great about hooking people up with new shells.

Im getting my bike finished tomorrow morning, so im gonna be down for a ride this saturday. if anyone, and i mean anyone, wants to join, it would be great. i havent ridden in 7 months, and it will be painful to get back into it, especially riding rigid for the first time, but im psyched on it. lets get a group together. i know theres Swanners and peeps from Cardiff out there. let me know....or better yet, post it up here. Show the American kid a good "proper" british ride. hahhah

And have you read the terms of use included with all King products? Or do you just buy all of it second-hand? It DOES say it will void the warranty in the terms of use.

not when he clearly voided the warranty. they will look at the hub, see that it wasnt laced 2x or 3x, etc, and say, "oh, laced radially, bummer"... every time a king product fails its because the user used it inappropriately. every time.

...they will be able to tell if you radial laced it, but give it a try:) i have found that if youre honest with them, you usually have a better chance of getting it warrantied. dont play games with them.
