  1. The osetbikes are realy good, I have seen them demo'ed in the flesh ( wish they do a bigger version, for bigger boys ) and are great fun I think the main problem with them is they are a little over priced. I was gonna get one for my granddaughter until the wife put a stop to it . The problem I have found with cycletrials is so god darn hard to learn, all that co-ordination stuff with the pedals but it may just be me I only started 7 weeks ago and I am old a old git so the younger you can get them into it the better, becomes as easy as riding a bike.
  2. Hi Pete, Have you thought about one of those electric trials bikes for your grandson? would be ideal at his age until he gets a little more strengh . http://www.osetbikes.co.uk/
  3. From your screen grab i can see you are running ZoneAlarm me thinks this might be the more likely problem check settings, also make sure you are not running the window builtin firewall the sametime as zonealarm. If all the setting are fine then your router may have security setup on it and then it depends on what type but could be a issuse of when you very first plugged the dongle into the pc and entered/cancelled the password/key input dialog box and now uses what was ever entered as a default ( hard to explain... sorry ) anyway just disconnect the network connection ( not by removing the dongle ) and then re-fresh the wireless connections list then re-connect to the wireless this should prompt you for the key/password again if you have one set. Hope this make sense. But I still think it will be Zonealarm stopping the connection.
  4. alext, You are quite right, Take this from some one how know's. Get your scoot de-restricted it will make it safer for when in a 30mph zone, most car drivers will want to overtake a scoot no matter what speed the scoot is doing and by having it de-restricted alows you (the rider) not to be bullied into the kerb, but also remember cars like pulling out on scoots more so when the scoot has 'L' plates being displayed and this is mainley due to car drivers attitudes most car drivers assume scoots are slow ( I know different ). So for this reason still stick to the speed limits. And all you gotta hope is when your going down your country lanes at 45-50 on your scoot that you dont meet some tosser coming the other way in a clapped out car coming sideways towards you, because you know that your gonna come off worst and the car driver didnt even think of this senario in the first place. Happy biking.
  5. Dont think anyone said they are better for twisty country lanes, There are much better bikes for that purpose and are a lot more fun than any car . Scoots are the best for built up areas. Dont think anyone said they were saver aswell.
  6. Yes so much fun,,, sat in traffic thinking I hope this old shed dosn't cost to much to get through the MOT.
  7. I thought the whole thread was about de-restricting scooters, does that not make them non-standard, It all depeands how much you want to spend to how un-resricted you want it or am i missing something. Scoots may look stupid , but there cheap to keep on the road, compared to a car, very little maintance needed compared to a bike and for very little money can be made to out run most cars in built up areas. Personaly I own a 2l sri motor and a 400cc scoot and 2 off road bikes (which are not fast but are the most fun) I will choose the scoot every time over the car for speed, fun and commuting. At the end of the day I would rather be riding what i can afford and scoots fit the bill better than walking.
  8. Im Not going to get into an argument with you cos im not in the mood, The only thing I will say is You Obviously do not know anything about 2 stroke engines or bikes in general. Just do some googleing for sprint clubs and look at some results. My current scoot will do 0-60 in just over 5secs, how many box standard cars will do that. and 60-100 in about another 5 secs. my first scoot a tweeked 50 would do 0-40ish in just over 4 secs ( you do the maths ). And the only thing cars are good for is having a ciggy in the warm when your stuck in traffic which is more often than not and board out of your skull wishing for a bit of excitement in your life and also transporting your 2 wheeled enjoyment about. But i dont want to argue about it Just found this on youtube, there not slow Oh look heres another one
  9. yes get it de-restricted, depending on the scoot a pug 50 2stroke can only get a max of 60ish out of it due to the design of the engine it wont rev out, the exhaust restriction governs the power (bhp) a race can will add upto about 1.5 extra bhp which will bring it upto a massive 4 or 5 bhp the variator governs the speed of the rear wheel through the rev range, a racing clutch and springs moves the usable power from the engine for different speeds. When I was into it about 8-9 years ago the best scoot for tunning was a honda (cant remember the model) it was possible to get about 110mph out of a 50 with a 85cc cylinder kit installed and racing crank/piston and a programmable cdi with a load more other bits and pieces replaced ( very, very expensive !! ) and mainly done for circuit racing and sprint racing. And yes buzzing around on a sooped up 50cc scoot will out run, from the lights nearly every car on the market but only upto about 35-40mph. My current scoot will out run a lot of standard road bikes including my sons old cbr500 and his current 750 cruiser but there again my scoot is a sooped up 400cc .
  10. Or get the latest version of paintshop pro : as powerfull, easier to use, third of the price and its not got all the adobe overheads. there is also a 30day free trial. But as was said before gimp will do most stuff .
  11. Hi Im no expert but it sounds like there is air in the system or the gap is to big between the rim and the pads, a bleed may be the only way. Also make sure that the pads are hitting the rim parallel and at the same time on both sides when the lever is pulled. Set the pads up with the TPA fully out cos this shouldnt be used for setting them up its only a quick way of adjusting your pads while out on a ride until you get the chance to adjust them properly with tools. Hope this helps.
  12. Sorry to hear you just bought a GG,,, your gonna need all the money you can get hold of to replace all the stuff that will fall off it. . Sorry couldn't resist.
  13. Or Just put your mech back on for now and use the 2 adjusting screws on the mech to lock it into the gear that you want to use, you may have to find some longer screws, but it works well. I have shorted my chain and adjusted the mech so there is no possibility of selecting 3 of the largest cogs. Which I have done until I find which gear is best for me.
  14. Well done mate , I think more people should upload video's from when they very first start out ( sort of a riding diary ). There is nothing more discouraging than watching very polished video's with very good riding time and time again it just puts potentional newcomers off the sport ( thinking bloody hell I could never do that ) but we all got to start somewhere. Think about it. . And it dont help reading some of the nagitive replys within this thread.
  15. There is plenty of software about to convert media types just google, its your friend.
  16. I dont think for 1 minuet that Jack was saying pedo trials was around before moto trials, just that kids get to play on pedo trials from a very early age with no restrictions i.e play out in the street, cost and transport is also a factor. The Skills developted on a pedo trials defo helps and adapts itself well for modern moto trials trick riding.
  17. Or you can download this a very good media player called VLC or videoLAN ( google it ) Its free (open source)and has a very small over head on the pc also it has nearly all the codec's you can ever want built into it . It will play most file types except rm files. If this player will not play the file then the file is not worth having
  18. Just chillin dude , What about you then !!!.
  19. Yes I ride ( sort of ) along with a couple of my mates but we have just started all this cycle trials stuff. Here is a link to the website that we are usually appearing on (pleanty of pictures of our bikes and crashes) and a full report of our first outing on the cycle trials. http://www.r2wtrials.co.uk/
  20. I can see why he was given a dab from an observers point of view at the time, but looking at the video it was NOT a dab. Its a tough old game
  21. Thanks Boswell, Thats what I thought just want to confirm, and is there any noticable increase in braking performance.
  22. What is the purpose of a brake booster is it just to stop flex in the brake posts ? and is there any noticeable increase in performance. Thanks. Kevin.
  23. Thanks Adam, it is just the pegs I need but the fork threads are different from the rear threads . So I will make some and re-tap the treads on the rear. Thanks for the offer . Kevin.
