  1. That seems a hell of a price, hope its a hddvd you would be getting with it. If you are just after the speaker set up then look at computer specific surround sound speakers they tend to be a lot less expensive but many have higher or simular spec.
  2. Im 43 ( i think ) and been riding ( I will use that term very loosely) any type of pushbike for only the last 7-8 weeks, been riding ( ) mototrials since 38 and nothing before.
  3. Yes I hope so, I have been married to my wife for nearly 24 years and we have had some great times together and have got 2 great kids and 3 lovely grandkids So i hope i find MY one true love SOON,,,, times running out only kidding love her to bits.
  4. Intresting. Oh bugger you have given me something else to worry about now . Unless the phone transmits a signal when off I dont think it can be pinpointed. I dont think this is the case because when you turn a phone back on the first thing it does is search for a network. But I could be wrong. I know the police have used the triangulation of the phone masts to find people that they need to but its pretty hit and miss. Expecially if the phone for is on the 3 network
  5. Im not worried about the tracking thing as i never do anything wrong . If the phone is off then surley that information that the gps has cant not be given back to the phone company unless it some how stores the information on the phone until it turnt back on. Perhaps I just think about things to much, many people are against for what ever reason , for example number plate recongnition from traffic cams or cctv monitoring movments because they think its against there rights . The current phone tech could be just another way of of doing this but know one ever questions it.
  6. Phone companies may not care but plenty of orginisation would pay good money for this information. But you are quite right it would not be on all the time even if the phone is. Think I have just found my new phone Nokia N93. I need to look at it in the flesh but it do tick all the right boxes.
  7. the n95 yes now that is a GOOD phone and your right very nearly fits every requirement for me except its a little on the big side I wish they would drop the qwerty keyboard ( if im thinking of the right one ) and make it a flip phone. Builtin gps not for me, the thought of a mobile phone provider having the ability of knowing where the phone ( me ) is within 4sq meters is a bit scary or even tracking my movements when travelling. its bad enough that they can track you within 400sq meters should they want to Just looked at the n95 and no it wasnt the one i was thinking of ( with the qwerty keyboard ) do anybody know what resolution and file format it records video.
  8. I bought my wife a sony ericsson a couple of months ago it wasnt the 5mp but it was a very good camera and the phone was well made it was just a shame about the rest of the phone ( sony falls into the same category as apple im affaid for me tries to lock you into what they think you want ) Cant see why Im asking for much from a phone, its all there, but not in one package.
  9. Ok all this talk about phones have got me wanting a new phone and I have been looking around for one. can anyone recomend a GOOD phone. Dont want a touch screen I have had 3 touch screen smart phones and are more trouble than there worth, I want it to record video @ a min of 25fps at a resolution of 640x480 that records in mp4/wmv format, min 2mp stills cam with optical zoom or 5mp with dig zoom and a flash or a good light, mp3/wma player/recorder expandable memory micro sd,320x240 screen, pim, java, bluetooth, gprs, optional port to connect gps ( dont want it builtin ), composit video out, all in a flip package and wifi would be nice aswell This would be the ideal phone for me. all these functions are out there but not a one singular phone well i cant find one. I currently have a v3x which nearly fits the bill but is getting a bit old and battered now its nearly 2 years old.
  10. as it stands a 2mp cam is more than enough on any phone as long as you are not using the digital zoom. I have got some very very good prints of 10x8 from my 2mp phone as long as the image is very sharp to begin with. not so good if your printing the pictures out on a inkjet, anything above 6x4 do start to stuggle with the quality.
  11. No I Wasnt, I would consider myself very bike aware car driver as my main mode of transport is a bike and if I did by somechance do something that upset the cyclist then I wasnt to know , the oppertunity was there to tell me what I had done ( If anything ), so lessons could be learnt. So the chap was a twat and not doing any favours for the cyclist.
  12. I have had a wing mirror hit off my car by a cyclist whilst sat in traffic (what a bugger I said ) well words to that effect. So would your approch not require a moped or a motorcycle to be insured?. Also if for example if some whitesticked pedestrian got hit by a cyclist whilst crossing the road and it was proved the cyclist was in the wrong, speeding, against the flow of traffic or not giving way at a zebra crossing for just a few examples, how will the cyclist afford the court costs without insurance let alone the compo or would you just ride away if you were able to thinking its not my problem like the twat that hit my mirror off. If your using public roads then you should do everthing to protect yourself and others around you no matter what you are driving/riding. A sensible punisment for not wearing a helmet would be cut there brake cables and dont tell them
  13. I think to be honest it will never become compulsory, it would be a nightmare to inforce with all the little 8-11 year old kids riding there bikes without helmets on. The kids will just be givinging the bill the runaround. Wearing a seatbelt is compulsory I can remember when that came in it was very much the same arguments about them as well, But it have saved a lot of lives which has had a knock on effect with organ donations for transplant there is a shortage so its swings and roundabouts. Wearing a cycle hemet should be compulsory if cycling the the road but I also think cycles on the road should have third party insurance aswell but there again that will never happen.
  14. From the sounds of it, it is a earth return problem and 3.5mm plugs and sockets are quite othen the cause try another 3.5mm jack > phono also is it a stereo tv (3.5mm socket)? . As was said try and use phono to phono from the sky box much better solution.
  15. The only thing I can say after that is... 1988 for the 68000 bloody hell Im getting old. You appear to be well informed or have a much better memory than me. Im so sorry to hear it didnt work out well for microsoft so why did they help bail apple ?. Dosn't some of the Intel chips have builtin DRM ? why wouldnt of that have been one of the driving force to create a working model for music/video downloads that works. At the end of the day Apple,MS,Sony,EMI,Disney or what every big buisness corporation is only out to make money and look after there own investments. So who really knows what goes on behind the scenes... unless you have inside information. But back to the i-phone Im sure its a very nice phone and will do everything that people expect from it as do the i-pod.
  16. its not a driving offence not wearing a helmet ( well it wasnt when i was young ) but carried a fixed fine of £10 !!! well it was 25 years ago mind!! but didnt affect your licence i.e no points
  17. Ok Guessing, But didnt intel buy into apple as well as microsoft ?. Microsoft wasnt aloud to hold the majority shares within apple from what i can remember so intel must have fronted the rest of the money so dosnt that sort of make them partners. I know microsoft have quite often been at war with intel and used AMD as a wedge. But it all seems to worked out rather nice for them both no matter what anybody has to say. it was seen not to be in the intrest of the consumer ( i think more in the intrest of security ) for intel and microsoft to merge ( i think thats what the courts said at the time, from memory ).
  18. I have seen 2 normal peeps riding normal bikes on the road doing nothing stupid, one was hit by a car the other just slid off on a corner both had helmets and both would have been dead or veggi-fide if they didnt. Defo helmets should be compulsory.
  19. There was a source going around about 4-5 years ago intel denied any involvment which I would expect, but there is current sources that shows a very close bond between them. You would have to be very clever to find any hard evidence of a link between them as the courts said this should not happen for obvious reasons but there again I think it very strange that the old mac's processors 68000 where a much better processor than the current intel at the time and it was suddenly dropped when mr billy boy bailed Apple out about 5-6 years ago. Ok Im reading between the lines here.
  20. Apple is as bad as micosoft. Its all simular stuff that microsoft have tried to do but endup going to court over and have to submit, but Apple are able to get way with it in the courts because its seen as healthy competion for microsoft. the powers that be dont want it all to be a one man show ( bill gates ) even though he owns a fair bit of apple and intel hence way macs are now a pc in a nice case.
  21. As was said earlier very old tech, and very expensive for what it is. But yet again apple have done a great marketing job as with the ipod and there mac computers. It seems if you advertise it right you can sell anything for what ever price you think you can get away with and in my line of work it really winds me up that apple and sony want to go it alone and try to lock everybody into there newest developments ( copies as regaurds the iphone, and ipod ).
  22. I was just reading it up about the law with lights and stuff, a rear reflector is also the law . You are not required to have lights fitted if the bike is stationary or being pushed. As was said what about the ones that clip to your clothes, its a play on words because they are fitted to the bike as long as your riding it and when you not moving you dont need lights. job sorted .
