  1. Thanks all, lots to read and think about
  2. Thanks guys, I'm looking into all of these suggestions!
  3. Yeah that's the thing I liked about my Giant, it was a 16" frame so I could use it normally but also throw down the seat and do some trials. I'm after something similar to that..
  4. Me either. I'm not sure the Giant ATX 890 was either, but it did a great job while I had mine. Will scan through the frames on Tarty.
  5. Perfect guys, exactly the sort of advice I was looking for. The Hex looks very nice! I had a look at 2011 Giant and Cannondale frames the other day in a shop, they didn't look that nice imo.
  6. Hey, I'm looking to build a bike for general use (nothing too strenuous!) but I'd still like to be able to ride trials. I used to have a custom Giant trials bike similar to Martin Hawes in the Chainspotting video so that's the sort of bike I'm looking to build. I'm not really up to date with bike components these days so I'm looking for a little nudge in the right direction to get me started. Cheers!
  7. I rode from London to Brighton for charity in June this year. That's 54 miles in a few hours!
  8. Kind of yeah, I just thought they might reduce old stock to help make way for the new bikes. I did see some Onza's on eBay, but they weren't the T-Comp (mainly) or T-mag which is the bikes I'm looking at.
  9. I was thinking more like the shops (e.g. Tartybikes) selling off their stock. Ref. eBay I really prefer to buy things new if I can. I didn't think of that, great idea!
  10. Will there be a sale of the 2007-2008 stock? Having never bought a bike in a sale before I was just wondering whether it's worth waiting for that?
  11. I had some of these! Azonic risers Mavic 121's Magura Raceline D's IRC Missile tyres X-Lite handle bar endy things Club Roost risers Homemade bash guards Crud Catchers Not forgetting the videos: Dirt Getta Grip Chainspotting (this was AMAZING) Whatever the tips and tricks one with Hans Rey was.. The Martins, obviously!
  12. Sounds good mate, thanks. If I was planning on buying the current T-Comp would you say its worth waiting until the new ones are out? 6 weeks is going to feel like an eternity!
  13. Is there going to be a new mod bike in the £500 region? To replace the current T-Comp..
  14. When are these hitting the stores then? I'm eager to buy a bike but I don't to be waiting forever
  15. Is there any information anywhere on the new Onza's? I am fairly eager to get a bike sorted. It's going to be a nightmare being rubbish again, I'm looking forward to it though!
  16. Yeah I'm definitely edging towards the Onza. When I said a few years ago I meant somewhere in the region of 5-7 years. sdm is my initials, first name Stu. Cheers mate!
  17. I'm torn between which bike to get out of these three. It's mainly for use in Portsmouth (if you know the area), this is my first mod bike, I've not ridden trials in a few years (used to ride stock), and I weigh about 13 stone if that helps ha ha! Looking for the most robust/reliable option, something I won't regret! Onza T-Comp '08 Yaabaa 649 Monty 219 Magura '08 I have narrowed my choice to these three so I'm really not looking for other suggestions. At the moment I'm liking the Onza most. Cheers!
  18. Yeah I've not sat of one of those little trials seats before, I'm guessing they're pretty much useless anyway? Ha ha, I just noticed this in your signature, my g/f said the same thing last week!
  19. As some of you know I'm looking at getting a new mod trials bike but since I'm coming from a stock bike that had a seat it makes me wonder if I would need one? My choice is pretty much between two brands, Onza and Monty, the Monty's have seats.. (I realise you can remove the seat from the Monty) Seat or no seat, that is the question! Edit: this isn't the deciding factor for getting either bike, I'm looking for your opinions.
  20. Yeah it's been changed a fair bit since I used it for trials, but it did do me just fine a number of years ago when I used to ride trials on it. Yeah that's my plan, I'm definitely going to market it as a XC bike when if/when I sell it. £150-200 was pretty much what I was expecting so that's good news. I wasn't trying to flog the bike on here I just wanted some opinions as I'm not a member of any other bike forums. Cheers boys!
  21. I'm thinking of selling my custom built Giant ATX 890 and I'm looking for some guidance on it's current value! Without going into -too- much detail, here are the specs: Giant ATX 890 frame Magura Raceline D's front/back Ballistic rigid forks Azonic riser bar XT front/rear mechs LX shifters STX RC cranks STX RC chain Acor stem Mavic 121 rims Continental tyres (fitted) AND/OR IRC Missile 2.25 tires (spare) I used to ride trials on this before I stopped so it used to be slightly different - rock ring, the Missile tyres etc. I converted it for general use and I also recently completed a charity ride from London to Brighton on it. Here it is: Any suggestions?
  22. Looks great Adam - I've been a bit lost since it went down as I'm right in the middle of deciding which mod bike to buy! Glad it's back!
  23. Thanks again Neil, great advice! Do you know when they are due?
  24. Yeah man I live on the seafront so I often see riders making their way to castlefield etc. which has made me want to start riding again! I'm probably really bad these days though, it's been a while! What time do you guys usually go out? Roughly..
