  1. To be fair to everyone, this thread was always going to be 95% crap.

Just to add my crap. I think dani comas has the record for sidehop over a bar on 26 which was 47 I believe. Joe 135cm is not 35 inches.

Only big pro's will have the chance to do the offical world records as its all about publicity. Neil and craig would probally be up there in the guiness book otherwise.

If they're that bothered all they need to do is write to Guiness World Records with details of the record they want to break and they'll send a judge out if they think it's worth it.

  2. what? take the bike apart?

mate that takes time, if i had some of that i wouldnt have f'cked up the spray in the first place

So now it's taken you even loger and you haven't got anywhere. The irony of it all.

Pink = Sad. I can't stand the whole quirky pink thing. Men in pink t-shirts with pink shoelaces on pink bikes just look gay. It is NOT some kind of ironic masculinity statement.

Anyway, just polish your frame up. It is aluminium, right? same advice as for the painting TAKE YOUR TIME AND DO IT PROPERLY or don't bother at all.

  3. You don't really need to join a gym. Spend the money on some free weights and a big mirror. Free weights should be better for you if you're working out to improve your riding since they also build supporting muscle groups up and give you good proportional perception.

  4. Anyhoo, all I was pointing out was that these "Asylum seekers" who loads of people on here "take all the money out of the country" and f**k us all over 'cos they're taking loads of money out of the tax system are basically wrong, in that they repay all the money they're taking out of the system and add another £2.5billion to it?

No they don't. For the simple fact that asylum seekers aren't allowed to work.

And I'd be willing to place a strong bet that the article you read was deliberately written in such a misleading way to influence the publics perception of asylum seekers.

  5. You dont see the hard workers, who are the majority of the asylum seekers, who are doctors, engineers, you name it, who are the ones who put the money back in.

I don't think you'll find many asylum seekers working as doctors. Yes, you do get a lot of proffesionals who are immigrant workers.

There is too much ignorance from people who bundle migrant workers in with bogus asylum seekers.

  6. Asylum seekers and immigrants put £2.5billion more back into the government/tax system than they take out in the form of benefits?

clever bundling of groups of people there to get the figures.

Besides, that figure means nothing unless you can also give a relative figure for what British born citizens pay in tax compared to what is taken out, in order to draw a proportionate comparison.

  7. This post is not disrespectfull, but I'd just like to make a point;

Number of people killed on Sept 11th; 2,752

Number of people that died TODAY in africa from starvation; 50,000 (est)

Why is no one commemorating today, because CNN doesn't give a shit. I don't think anyone can even comprehend that 50,000 people died from starvation today, yet for some reason it doesn't even make the news.

Sometimes you need to take events in proportion.

So what?! You care that much do you?! sell your twin monitor computer and the rest of your possesions and go and volunteer then...

Oh, it might compromise the comfort of you rcurrent standard of living. Yet you still feel the need to tell everyone ellse where they're wrong. GOBSHITE.

THE MORE WE FEED THE MORE THEY BREED.

  8. If it was ww1 or 2 then i'd definatly go whenever i could, even looking back at the stats. I love my country and if some natzi shite wants to invade my country give me a gun now! dying for you country is a worth death against a fanatical leader, but wouldnt join for politic's

    Err, that is politics, mate.

  9. End of the world, and how do you know we wouldn't be forced? WW2, A-Bomb, Hiroshima, we were still forced to fight.

people were conscripted a while before the A-bomb was ready.

I'd be a medic, probably as and when needed.  F**k patriotism, I don't think I could shoot people just because they come from a different piece of land.  But I wouldn't mind fixing people up :S

So you'd fix people up knowing that when they're better they'd be going to kill people again?

That's like me saying "Nah, I'm not dropping a bomb and killing people, I'm a scientist, but I'll help make the bomb though.." :-

  10. Indeed, thier bassist, James is also pretty awesome aswell. :-

Heard all their stuff and seen them live twice. I could do his job easily enough. I wouldn't describe myself as awesome. Just because people see a bassist play a little bit of slap they're suddenly awesome?..

They do have some interesting time signature changes in their songs though. However, rather than the changes being good or quirky, they are quite shit. Way to obvious and done for the sole purpose of them being obvious.

  11. A passenger jet is loosing fuel fast, over the ocean, and they ditch all the cargo to try and get them to safety quicker but it still isn't enough. The co-pilot comes into the cabin and announces that they're going to have to start loosing passengers too.

Co-pilot: "We're going to have to start throwing passengers off and we'll be doing it alphabetically. So, first Africans then Blacks then Coons..."

A young black boy turns to his father and says: "That be us pa?.."

His father replies: "No bwoy. We is Niggers!"

  12. Easy to impress non-musicians and beginners. But 'at the end of the day' (God, I hate that saying) they both bored the penis off me. What's the point? One-trick-pony comes to mind. Any one can learn to mimic, I doubt either of them will go on to write a trluy great peice of music. It's a bit like the kid who used do be able to do the most back hops but never really seemed to go on to do anything else...

  13. I was allways confused by the way that some people spend more money and time putting a stereo in their car than they do getting a nice set up in their home.

I find myself being quite bothered by people that claim to have a passion for music yet have never picked up an instrument in their lives. Infact the notion that they think they can 'appreciate' the music more if it is played at a better clarity becomes quite absurd.

This in no way getting at the thread starter btw.

  14. ive always fancyed base jumping, but now i may give it a miss

I've allways fancied going in a car, but now I may give it a miss.

I've allways fancied riding a bike, but now I may give it a miss.

I've allways fancied going in a plane, but now I may give it a miss.

I've allways fancied eating chicken, but now I may give it a miss.

I've allways fancied walking down the street, but now I may give it a miss.

    I've allways fancied myself.

  15. I got the Death-Stare of a lifetime yesterday.  Backwheeled this 40" high root that sticks out of a bank/wall in town, and some kid saw me.  He was on a bike, with his mum and gran, and he went "I'm going to do that" and started riding at the wall.  They shouted to him to stop and he did, and the gran gave me a look that pretty much said "I'm going to tear your face off".  People will copy you riding, so try and set a decent example I guess...

The thing is, we can't allways be held responsible for the actions of others. That old fart was so simple she saw you and then the kid try and copy and placed the blame. Maybe if she was smart enough to think about it she might have realised that the kid, although probably young, was probably a psychopath and made the decision to charge at the object. You didn't tell them to. She probably sit at home smoking 40 fags a day infront of him. What's worse?

We really are breeding stupidity back into the human race. Whatever happened to, you do something stupid, you learn from it and don't do it again. Now it's, you do somethign stupid, you get f**ked up, then you look for anyone else to target the blame on but yourself because they were too stupid to make our own decisions.

What should have happened is that the kid hits a steep learning curve (albeit in the for of a 40" high root) and while he's sitting sobbing his arse off the mother comes along and gives him another smack for being stupid. Moment of clarity follows shortly after...

Anyway, back to the helmets. I wear a Pro-Tec Bucky Lasek skate lid and I even prefer it to my old Met. Does get a bit sweaty but I can deal with that. Plus I look super cool rather than lookin like an XC rider who's lost his saddle.

  16. have you tried adjusting the screw that is attached to the back of the hanger bolt on your mech? There should be one there on most mechs. It pushes against the little fin/claw shaped bit that is on the end of the frames hanger.

Failing that, take out the spring in the hanger part of the mech. The mech should just bolt in place and stay put then, you can set it any distance from the frame you like then. Shifting gears should still be ok if you're just running a single front ring and a rear road cassette. The spring is only really there to take up chain slack and allow bigger differences of gear ratios.
