  1. sorry for dumb question but how do I choose between 1/8 or 3/32? (trialtech rear/heatsink front)....and whats the difference?
  2. Thanks everyone - looks like everyone likes the trialtech stuff then.... ordered sprockets and spacers, gonna get some cranks, bashring and maybe some more bits from them.
  3. thanks again... Its a 10mm bb as its supposedly a streety frame. At the mo I have an ancient mtb frame with a 50mm stem and some azonic risers. Ill be keeping those cos I like the shape but I want this bike to be a lot lighter and easier to ride on the back wheel for 'normal trials'....at the mo (old bike) its really heavy feeling and quite low at the front, something I want to get away from. I was just thinking that long stems would make it feel useless for the rolling stuff.
  4. thanks for all the replies....thinking of maybe a used Kore or something 80-90mm with about 10deg rise - theres a new TruVativ Ive seen in white as well. See what happens - its hard to tell what length/height I'll need while Ive just got a frame sat on the living room carpet.
  5. so you can tell if its a bit flat?
  6. I need a complete drivetrain....is Trialtech good stuff??? Thinking of trialtech cranks, 18t screw on front sprocket, 16t splined rear, some trialtech spacers........and then all the other bits.
  7. rung them...don't have them anymore....still looking
  8. Anyone know what length b/b for a Czar Freetrials '08 (here... http://selectbikes.com/index.php?act=viewP...;productId=208) Looking at running a Trialstech ISIS.
  9. right...will take the advice and try out one of these big superstems
  10. yeah I suppose if I dont like one I'll realise fairly quickly and can sell it.
  11. cheers for that - useful info. Im not sure what crank length though 160 or 170 (previously used 165 - D'oh) its a 26" - one of these - http://selectbikes.com/index.php?act=viewP...p;productId=208 Wheelbase: 1065mm Chainstay Length - 390mm BB rise - 10mm Head Angle - 71 Degrees. So with not that high a b/b do I not need such a lofty stem? I don't want to rule out 'normal trials riding' through choice of parts, just want it to feel ok for the rolling stuff as well.
  12. just can't come to terms with over 80mm at the mo....trying to stay open minded but just can't imagine how Id ride the thing with anything over that!
  13. 130? you must be kidding right? ....really? I don't think I could face putting a mick hucknall stem on there
  14. any suggestions for my frame then? Wheelbase: 1065mm Chainstay Length - 390mm BB rise - 10mm Head Angle - 71 Degrees.
  15. no....not the padded ones. the plastic slim ones
  16. you'll have to excuse my outdated views but I need someone to explain why the stems on stock bikes have got so long? the last time I rode (ok ok it was many many years ago) anything up to 50mm was acceptable and anything over 75mm would have got you laughed at all the way to the bike shop (to get a shorter one)... Im gonna build up my Czar freetrials with a 'streety' set up (it'll probably never see any 'natural' riding)...but do I really need one of these monsters for it to handle properly? Is it to make the front end feel lighter when on the back wheel? I dont want it to feel like steering a ship for 'run up and jump' stuff...... advice needed.
  17. can you change the bashring & 22t for one of the little screw on types?
  18. oh I didnt realise Im full member now!...no luck with ebay (I am crap at searching on there!). Might have to phont Tarty tomorrow and see if they've any. Do you know if they have 'built in' posts? (look to low to have a proper clamp)
  19. .........just seen on another section some fella's maroon Pashley and Curtis with them and look amazing...I need one so where do you get them!? Also, do they need a seat post or do they have a mould to go in the seat tube? HELP! (I would ask on the other forum or pm the owner but can't yet!)
  20. Hey, thanks again for the links and advice - bought the Czar for a good price
  21. ...do you think there'd be much demand for an indoor trials park in the UK? Are there any now?
  22. ..........for my Czar? Was looking for a frame with a seat (to sit and pedal between spots) and somehow ended up getting a Czar Freetrials today (didnt plan on it). I need recommendations on some stuff.... An isis bottom bracket ....or if I get square.....Onza, echo or Trialtech (all £12 on Tarty)Stem (not sure about angle/length but shorter rather than longer and ummm bit angled up - 20 deg?). Is this one any good... http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...;category_id=41 or this one... http://www.trials-uk.co.uk/product.aspx?productid=1028 With a D521 rim (for now) what size/which tyres should I look at? (Used to like IRC's 'back in the day' but dunno what people use now)Unless I can find a used one Middleburns are too much (so much else I've got to buy) so what crank/bashring?A long shot but a little seat...any idaes where to get a tiny one? Also, do seat tube clamps come in different sizes or standard? Trying to keep costs down to get it up and running as gonna turn my old bike into a jump/street beast! Cheers, Dan
  23. sorry to hijack the post but which Heatsink pads for a smooth rim? Snowy?
  24. ......have anywhere to ride when its raining? Just getting back into riding and timed it badly. Apart from natural riding (I don't fancy visiting my local woods) does everyone just give it a miss when its raining or have somewhere to ride? (My nearest indoor skatepark is miles away and although years ago we rode through a well known supermarket its not really a long term option).
  25. Nice work....keep practising and you'll gradually get more comfortable and less tired!...like the other guy said try experiementing with your balance point. Personally I don't like the 'look' of really upright back wheel hops....to me it just doesn't look cool for street riding but I suppose sometimes its just necessary. Keep working on your pedal hops and try to clear little gaps (on low objects like palettes)....get used to lowering the front a little more than normal and letting the crank come back a bit to really launch across the gap. Also, watch lots of vids and observe how other riders do things - its a good way to pick up on techniques. Thats all I can offer on this. *Edit: I didnt know thats called booning but its pretty useful for nudging to the edge of a drop or whatever.
