    Im guessing you have shaved down the thickness of the pedal ends of the burns?

    Tarty's will have the 16t Alumec 89 Aluminum bashrings (Hard anodized) in stock soon and the steel one too.

    Or if it suits you better Tim at expressivebikes.com in Australia Has them in stock now.

    You got it 2mm shaved of the inside of the crank. 170mm w/lock ring 394grams.

    Whats with the blue ink writing on the inside of the left middleburn crank? Nice rig, but doesn't quite beat the tartybikes superlight weight 09 Control project.

    Tarty's bike has a much lighter rear tire/rim and a magura on the front so it's quite differently.

    The bike rides really well though it is a little flexy but better than some heavier frames I've had. Since building a light bike everything is MUCH easier. Especially pinch flats. So for day to day street riding i run a try all front and a maxxis 2.5 front minion on the rear (trimmed knobs) taking the weight to 8.94kg.

    Its your mate Ryan and i have just started trials and i need some tips on power hops i can get up on the back wheel and move foward but i cant actually hop could you please give me some tips on them and could you tell me what the really name for them is power hops or rear wheel hops

    A back hop is just that. A forward hop is also a back hop just forwards/forwards back hop. something like that.

    It's important you can hop on the spot with some sort of control otherwise your forwards hop will be out of control. Once you got that sorted here's the go.

    #1 Get on the back wheel on balance point.

    #2 Slowly drop the front wheel a little.

    #3 Load up our front pedal.

    #4 Now release the rear brake,crank and hop at the same time.

    #5 Have the rear brake ON!! before you land.

    Once you get better the more you drop the front wheel,the more your preload your body and the harder you jump the bigger your back hop will become.

  5. As stated previously in the post, get WD40 in a liquid form or Duck oil (the same). This wil lube your seals and is thinner than proper oil.

    Right on! good to see someone knows what their on about.

    As for water it will definitely give you the best feeling lever (that's why the pros use it and the fact they don't care about their seals) But the whole reason hydraulic system uses oil is you need the lubricating properties to protect your seals. Magura know what their doing. Their a bunch of anal engineers. There aren't many/if any hydraulic system that come water bleed from the factory. for good reason.

    Thats most of the differences. about 550g (500g excluding the bb)

    Plus all ti and aluminum bolts like Stan.

    Running almost exactly the same wheels and tires. different frt hub and possibly the tubes too.

    One thing you need to know is theres alot of drill and milling work to remove even more weight

    dmr v12 -45g

    rear rim -20g

    frt rim -20g

    t.t front hub -15g

    middleburns -15g

    magura clamps -8g

    magura lever blade -4g

    -127g total

    Total total about 627g

    There you go.

    I'm pretty light rider 63kg 140lb so all the parts are up to the task.

    except the rubber queen for comp she's sweet for street you'll need a heavy wall tube.

  7. Got my 09 echo control down to a reliable 8.33kg. With A front Hope and a Half decent tire in the back tire (Rubber queen) bike mostly street ridden.

    #1 most weight can be removed but changing you tires "especially 26" bikes" Anywhere up to 450g on the rear and the front going from maxxis to continentals "only problem pinch flats"

    #2 Tubes use the lightest tube you can get away with especially in the front "cont. 90g Tarty's"

    #3 remove or reduce the steel. Disc rotors you can save big by going to a lighter disc or even a smaller.

    #4 Pedals If your pedals are more then 300g and you got lotsa cash there's grams to be saved.

    Been modest here

    700g tires + 150g tubes + 50g rotor + 100g pedals

    that's 1 kilo too easy

    The best thing is 1 kilo off your bike makes a HUGE difference too your riding ups and pivots everything gets noticeably easier.

    There's plenty more that can be done but this is a good start.

It's real important that you use a proper magura hose clamp to clamp the hose keep the hose short for stiffness and try WARMING the hose with a lighter to ease to barb going in and it must be 100% straight as you tap it in or it will case the barb to cut into the hose and weaken it. You'll never even notice it until it fails.

  9. Hi mate

    i run foam grips i use a small drop of super glue on each end of the grip. it wont go anywhere. when you need to remove just gently separate the foam from the bar with a flat screw driver then you can rotate the grip re glue for more life outta your grips.
