Ive been here for a week or so know and I've been reading as much information as I can. I've seen a few bits and bobs about brakes, coming from a BMX back ground hydraulic brakes are new to me, except the ones on my car. I've heard it mentioned a few times the different fluids that people use, like water, screen wash and oil. What do you prefer and why? What are the benefits of each of these different fluids and also whats the downsides of each? I had a thought as well "it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would" would a water/anti-freeze mixture work? Has anyone tried it? As anti-freeze has chemicals in it that prevents the water from rusting/oxidizing the internals of the brakes which unless I'm mistaken a pure water setup would eventually do. Thanks in advance. I agree, well at least you won't run out any time soon. Thanks for the replies peeps, you've answered another of my many stupid questions! I have a large sack, like that one, full of them.

Its the same process but in the bath, this gives you more room to work. Have a look in the wiki at the top of the page, theres a section on brakes which includes a piece on bleeding Maggie's.

Another stupid question... By tar do you mean "tar" or "bitumen"
-
Please bare with me as I am a bit of a newbie, what is this tar stuff you speak of? Also would someone mind posting the pro's and con's of grinding/not grinding? Basically if I decide to spend £100+ on a wheel the last thing i will be doing is paying someone to take a Dremel to it without good reason!

I Want A Trials But Dont No What One To Get

Stupid question but what's wrong with this site/company? I was thinking of making a purchase, but if they're bad news then I will stay away. -
Im off the Warfarin now and the clots have gone, but I still have the injury that required the operations and I will always be classed as "high risk" So I have to declare it before any more operations or flights etc.

You might all take the p**s but trust me you wouldn't if you had to deal with it.

Hi All, I know this is completely off topic, but I thought I would share my experience of this painful ailment as the main cause is operations and injuries. With our sport being rather dangerous I thought it was a good idea to share my experience and the symptoms so you can identify this if you are unlucky enough to develop it. The hospital never went through the details with me so mine got quite bad before it was diagnosed and as i had just had major surgery in the area I thought the symptoms were normal. What is deep vein thrombosis? Deep vein thrombosis happens in the veins deep inside the lower leg or sometimes the arm. The veins in this area are surrounded by muscle. Deep vein thrombosis is a clot in these veins, this is usually caused by pressure from sitting down too long or a cast/brace etc or incorrect elevation. In my case both. When the blood stops flowing due to the above causes it starts to clot just as it would if you had a cut but within the vein until it completely blocks the flow. Parts of this clot can break off and travel up to your lungs, this is called pulmonary embolism (PE) and is extremely serious and can kill. Symptoms Extreme pain - this became so bad for me that I couldn't be upright for longer than 10 seconds without feeling like i was about to pass out. It went away if the leg was above my hip. Swelling - in all areas below the clot, this can get bigger very quickly when upright, this contributes to the pain. Bruising and redness - a whole lot of bruising my leg was black and blue from top to bottom. Treatment These are the treatments i received, there may be others (heparin), both are drugs known as "anti-coagulants" which thins the blood and prevents further clots forming. Clexane - this thins the blood almost instantly and is administered immediately after diagnosis. it is an injection once a day into the stomach area either side of the navel (belly button). this is like injecting vinegar, i had to do this myself, which is quite a mental barrier to cross when you know it hurts. Warfarin - this is a tablet based drug, you have to build up a level of this so it takes a while to work which is what the clexane is for. the dosage is regulated by the level of thinness of blood. for this you have to attend regular blood tests and your dosage is decided on this result. Depending on the circumstances you can be on warfarin for the rest of your life, for me 3 months. I hope this has been informative and even if it helps one person get diagnosed quicker then it was worth writing. If anyone has any questions, post them and Ill try my best to answer them.

I agree, but with a little black to break it up. Ie hangers and tyres. Or you could give it to me and I will happily colour code it for you. I promise to give it you back!!

Complete Bikes/frame Manufacturer's List Required
dirty-boi replied to dirty-boi's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Thanks, I've looked into it further now and Tarty's no longer have the Mag version. So the Czar idea is out of the window. I cant use disks as I will bend them instantly and id rather use an anchor than Vee's. I've pretty much decided on the Echo team 07. I've heard good things and it's in my budget, which at the moment is £2.75 and some fluff. -
It depends on what you mean by buckled. If its like a banana then bin it. Other wise, strip the rim from the spokes and put it in the freezer. Ive never tried it with a girthy rim but it usually works well on bmx rims and will quite often pull quite a lot of tow out. Make sure its not fractured before you try. If its fractured also "bin it". Oh and pump those tyres up!
