  1. hi, i ride the same bike as u and wanting to buy a chain tensioner but i dont no what mech hanger i need cos i got rid of mine, if you no where i could buy ine from or no which it is it would be much appriciated cos i would be riding again.

  2. to be perfectly honest i quite like it at the mo ... i've got what i paid for with the 'frame' and to start with its fine. But i'm fully aware as i move up it will need to be changed, its to heavy and slightly to long. Ive got to learn to slow myself down and relax more when i ride, when i do i have good control of the bike but i dont visualise how i'm going to ride 'what' im riding if that makes sense.
  3. So ive been on my bike for about a month now ..... stil a complete newbie to trials. Very much enjoying riding, especially natural .... wondering if at 25 i should have started sooner .... guess i'll find out soon enough!! So first of all the bike .....!!! I purchased a truely rubbish diamondback tekiya for couple hundred quid .... rode for a few days and enjoyed so decided to do a few upgrades. Now at this point i had just met and was starting to ride with a chap called Matt burge who has been riding on the british and european competition scene for about 6 years and is very very good!!. So the bike got a few upgrades and the spec is now as follows: Tekiya frame D/back forks shimano front hub and double walled rim with harsh grind. system ex stem and monty risers. Magura HS11 Evo 2 brakes, bled with water and magura red trials pads. hope pro2 bolt through rear hub laced to std double wall rear rim with harsh grind. trial tech sport forged 160mm cranks running screw on 18t front sprocket and 15t shimano DX rear cog and TMS bashring. DMR V8 pedals DMR chain tensioner (modified) kenda tyres (soon to be changed!!) Few Pics: (sorry about the quality) Feel free to mock!!! whole bike only stands me in at around £450 so for a first bike im happily getting used to it. Also took a few poor quality vids (cameras not a strong point of mine) and i dont have any editing software so i do aplogise. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fQLiiAt48E http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1nWK-Z2HMY So feel free to have a giggle .... i dont post a huge amount on the forum, just enjoy browsing around, i have no illusions of being world champ, i just enjoy riding against myself. And just to finish a couple pics of matt at the last round of the bristish champs stolen from his facebook ... Cheers Steve
  4. building up some new cranks soon and came across these ... http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Talon-P...32-Inch-301.htm is this the correct type of front cog i need to run with trialtech sport forged 160mm arms and a tensile bashring?? im going to be running it with a 15t rear cog on my hope pro2. its the same 1.37 x 24 tpi thred as the cranks .... If it is id be delighted as ive just reliased they are made by the company my brother works for!!! cheers
  5. i wondered this and as to why it had been posted in new members section. Hub sounds awesome though!!!
  6. I've used tarty a few times since building my new bike and they are so helpful. Even without the pricematch 'thing' i wouldn't buy bits anywhere else now.
  7. Thanks for the advice, so what would a good alternative be?? At my early stage of riding I would rather not get into drilling rims etc as my experience is somewhat limited at this stage!! And any suggestions for spokes???
  8. Can i assume then that the DX32 is a heavy rim? Whats the alternatives for £25-£45??? again they must be able to be ground!!! thanks
  9. Hi guys, looking to build a new rear wheel, going for a hope pro2 and possibly an Alex DX32 rear rim 36H. My question is, is the alex rim ok for grinding? i love my existing rims now they have been ground and I wouldn't go back to a smooth rim. I don't want spend a fortune on a wheel, just a build that will help me while i learn. Let me know your thoughts steve
  10. well im definately part of the "newb" generation so i'll take it as lesson learnt!! its on my list of things to change ... im just enjoying actually being back on a bike at the mo!!!
  11. AH im gutted you said that about the sts. Il go for a ride tonight and see what happens. if it skips i'll make the tensioner, noise wont bug me to much but skipping might!! Looks like the sts will be on ebay in the morning!! Are there any other issues with running a tighter/loose chain? can it affect engagement points etc? loss of drive at all???
  12. Ive converted my 8spd to single speed running a 22t - 18t and ive shortened my chain to find it runs on both sprockets with about an inch of vertical movement in the chain. It hasnt skipped yet and i dont have a tensioner on it but i do have a DMR STS. Is it worth fitting it or does this sound ok for chain slack??? Cheers
  13. I Felt very much the same after getting on my new bike last week, i'd been off a bike for years and i was gutted when i rode it and everything felt wrong, i hated it. Ive now spent a week adjusting this and that and swapping parts ( i know thats difficult if funds dont allow) and now i love how my bike feels (altho its only a diamond back tekiya frame, desperately want something better already!!) Speaking to other riders as well just to get hints and tips, things like bar and stem combo and gearing choice stick with it and dont expect to much to soon, that was my mistake ... plenty of time to of time to get it right.
  14. So today i received my maguras in the post from CRC. Delighted with them and got on with fitting and setting them up .... nice and fiddly just as i remember from years ago!!! I used a penny between rim and pad to get them as i wanted, but i'd like them a little tighter. Anybody else used anything trick to set them up? i was thinkin cereal box cardboard maybe?? let me know ur thoughts. ( my first proper post ... im a little nervous!!! ) Cheers Steve
  15. Good Evening guys, Im steve, I'm 24 and currently living in Barnstaple in North Devon. Took ownership of a Diamond back Tekiya '09 (not the best i know!!) today and promptly set about stripping it and re-building with some nice upgrades. Just getting back into riding after around 8 years off, Broke both my arms when i was 16 and stopped riding then so just looking to find my feet in the sport again. Also enjoy alot of surfing as im only 5 minutes from the beach. Look forward to chatting to you all in the forum and maybe meeting some of you if there is anybody in the local area!! Happy riding fellas. Cheers Steve
