No but seriously thats lush.

White spirit is oil based and leave a tiny residue behind. Meths is alcohol based and totally evaporates, that would be better to use.
What pads are they out of interest?
Not totally sure because ive only just had the bike ......... power pad plastic backings with a kind of transparent green pad ? not sure if this helps haha but best description ive got for you sorry.
-
Hi all ive got some pads which have had oil spilt on them does anybody know how to get the oil off them ????

If your in a place where your sat by a girl (school, bus, cinema) and you would really want to do criminal things to you drop some money by them on the sly then bend over, pick it up and say excuse me did you drop this. If they say yes and take it then f**k them there not worth it. If they say no, you reply oh its okay you can have it anyway ........... it pays to be beutiful.
Worked once on the bus to our college bash rave. good night

there is only about 25 ml in a brake! So there aint that much water in there let alone anti-freeze!
BACK TO THE TOPIC !
cundog123 go with 3 part to 1 part antifreeze
Thats what i use .. no difference in feel and has survived the frosty nights
3 water, 2 antifreeze/ vodka .............. just to be awquard (right)
Ashes.
-
did i say it had to be pure anti-freeze ? no , i didn't ! i said what the guy above said ! i just said you didnt need loads of anti-freeze!
You said just a tad of anti feeze
Lurv you Pricer.

Sounds like you might be better off getting some new calipers! They're not that much new, and there's plenty around here in FS/Wanted. It's a shame those cylinders aren't designed to last forever...
Do you mean this ............ http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?product_id=307&category_id=5

Do the pistons not try to move back on their own at all?
Springs might be buggered if so
You push it back in like over half way and they pull back in there selves after that but yer i think there may be a chance that it is the spings ....... how would i sort that ?
Ashes.
-
Take your pads off, use some molegrips to pull the pistons out so you've got a lot of area to spray lube onto (obviously be careful not to break the little plastic nub off)
Spray some on, then hold down the other piston and give the lever a fair few pumps to get the lube worked in, then repeat for the other one.
Did you do that, or just spray some in the general direction of your pistons and expect it to magically work?
Thanks for the detail, no i took the pads off and gave the slaves a real good clean and lubricated around the pistons and then pumed the lever to push them out and pushed them back in manually with my hands to try and work the lube in. I was pumping the lever and pushing back in for about ten minutes (is this not long enough?)

urs is exactly the same as mine ashes but the piston in the lever sticks aswell
I have that problem with my front lever at the moment, but the back break is the one where the pistons are stuck in the slaves

Do post back how you get on! It should work, but say if not and we'll try and get it sorted.
Nope hasnt worked :/
-
WD40 will be fine Ash,
Use that and a toothbrush to thoroughly clean the pistons in the lever and calipers, then apply some thick, wet lube (ooh er!), or some grease to the pistons to ensure they're nice and smooth.
Well il go give it a go and see how it all turns out, if it fails i will cry . I'll comment on how it goes
Thanks for al the advice.

Deffinitly a lazy piston. GT85 will sort it.
Is that just like a WD40 kinda ting becaus i have none of that GT85.
-
sounds like a lazy cylinder piston or maybe lever piston, lube it up with silicone grease or similar and should work a treat.
do the pads move when you pull the lever in a little bit? is it responsive?
Yer really responsive, they just down want to go back out ad its driving me nuts. I have to kep literally puling them back in with my fingers and its doing my head in . I'll go give the grease a try now.
Thanks for the response's.

Also make sure it's not pure anti freeze only do 1 or 2 part antifreeze to 3 of water
Told you Cunny but Pricer would just not have it
