  1. I'm using them since few months since I've broke echo tr cage pedals and they have really good grip, looks really good. Hm.. I've lost one pin so far but it was after 5 day's after mounting them.. :P really good pedals!

Ok, thanks for your reply, I have Inspired ones at the moment and have lost 2 pins, however all the other ones have brick/stone/grit/mud in the sockets for the Allen keys.

  2. Unfortunately it’s something you’re just going to have to experiment with until you get the feel you want as everyone will have different opinions. However if you think that it's too high then either an 150 x 30 or 150 x 35 will be fine, but you could also try changing your bars to a lower rise set or even flat ones. I used stem stackers to get the height I wanted.

  3. Is the "smashing" pun meant to be there? Either way it was brilliant :P

Haha, I didn’t put it in to be a pun but oh well.

Nice sweaty pads, that’s just something your going to have to put up with, I started wearing shin pads after a couple of bad shin digs as I didn’t want to continually damage my leg once it had healed, and now its summer they do get a tad sweaty to say the least. (Y)

  4. Nice riding mate, I'm guessing the clips after your injury were the ones with you wearing knee pads, looks like you learnt a lesson from last time (Y) doesn’t look like you've lost any confidence either which is smashin’!!

  5. I had the same bar and stem combo as you when I had my onza rip and I also decided I wanted to change them, remember that you'll have to get both a new stem and bars if you upgrade as the new parts have different clamp and bar diameters. Anyway, I decided to go with the V!Z 720 bars with a TryAll 3D forged stem, however I use this with 55mm of stem stackers as after a lot of tweaking I decided I preferred them higher.

  6. I used the green Neon ones for a long time on a smooth Echo TR rim on the rear. They were pretty good but only when the rim and pads were nice and clean, I’m now using Heatsink Yellows (standard plastic backings) and they are far by the best pads I have used (on a medium 'ish' grind), definitely worth splashing out the extra cash if you want a good brake.

  7. Normally it's because some are too loose or not properly tensioned, so the other spokes take all the force of the loose ones, causing them to snap.

^This. The tightest spoke will be first to go, make sure all your spokes are evenly tensioned when you get more fitted, I've had 4 spokes snap down to un-even tension.

  8. Duffs came today, I am seriously impressed (with the limited use I have of my feet at the moment) seem on par with my 5-10s on grip!

What ones did you go for Ali? Or would any of the Duffs range would be as good?

  9. The £17 one will be the non black chilli version. Less grippy, slightly heavier, but same carcass.

I see.... Would the non black chilli version still be ok? I didnt want to spend tonnes on tyres as i still have other parts to buy, and this is/ will be my first stock so the non black chilli version may be fine.

  10. The RQ you're talking about isn't the one that everyone is referring to unless you've found somewhere that sells the £45 version for £17?!

Humm, I'm not sure then, I didn't know that there was more than one Continental Rubber Queen 2.4; I dont suppose you have a link to the £45 version so I can compare?

  11. Thanks for all the feedback so far everyone, I had looked at the Der Kaiser and also researched it on the forum to see the pros and cons, but at £50 it is a lot more than the RQ which I can buy from my local bike shop for £17, also this is my first stock build so I didn’t want to splash out tonnes of cash on one tyre.

Thanks Greetings for your review, think I may stick with my choice of getting the RQ now but pair it up with a tough downhill tube. I don’t suppose anyone knows of any problems of using this tyre on a FANS frame or will I have enough room for it? As for the front tyre, would using a downhill tube up front help with the pinch prevention and it getting stuck in the rim?

  12. I'm in the process of building up a stock, a Speedrace FANS to be exact, and I've been hunting around the forum looking for threads on tyres. At the moment I'm thinking of going with a Continental Mountain King 2.2 up front and a Continental Rubber Queen 2.4 on the rear after seeing them on a couple of stock builds, however I found that some people had issues with the Queen fitting their frame; therefore does anyone know if the Queen 2.4 will fit my FANS frame ok. Also what are people’s opinions on these two tyres and if there are any major issues with either what other tyre or tyre combo should I go for? If it’s any help I ride both street and natural on my mod so I will also be doing the same with my stock once built.

    Thanks,

    James.

  13. TRAIL COMPOUND

    Good initial bite

    Very short bed-in time

    Low noise

    ENDURO COMPOUND

    Strong initial bite

    Fade resistant

    Low noise

    DOWNHILL (DH) COMPOUND

    High Heat resistance

Superior performance in wet and dry conditions

Strong and consistent braking over wide range of speeds

pasted from there website if that helps.

I saw this in the description section on Chain Reaction, however I wanted to know if any of these pads would be better than the standard Hope ones, I was unsure as the pads were classed as DH, Trail and Enduro, all of which very different types of riding compared to trials but all three pads for a trials caliper. That’s why I wanted to see if anyone had used any of these Nuke Proof pads for trials and what they thought of them.
