  1. In more helpful news; If you've never had a desire for better performance from the standard Hope pads, get those again.

If you want to try something new and the reviews are good, by all means give the NPs a shot :)

Ok thanks, no reviews had been left on chainreaction so I thought I would try and get some on here.

  2. I've been looking for some new brake pads for my Hope mono trial so I decided to shop around to see what would be best. Initially I would have gone with Hope pads, however while shopping around I found that Nuke Proof make brake pads for the mono trial brake. Therefore I would like to know if anyone has used these pads before and if they are better than the Hope ones.

The Nuke Proof's are available in 3 different types, DH, Enduro and Trail, each with a different spec, so if I were to buy Nuke Proof pads instead of Hope I would also like to know what type would be the best for trials.

    Thanks,

    James.

  3. Ah I see, I know Profile make a freehub but not with splines on like the Pro2's but instead it has a single sprocket which you can pick the size you want (I think). I know Ns also make freehubs which a Dj and street specific but I'm not sure if they come in 110mm length.

  4. If you want something really loud then you'd what to get a freehub (instead of a freewheel), the new Hope Pro2 Evo in particular, extremely loud but also very expensive. The Halo freehubs are quite loud too; best thing with a freehub is that you can just slide on whatever size sprocket that you want.

  5. That looks smashing! as for the BB, I had the same problem with my TrialTech BB as the tool didn’t fit over the spacer on the non-drive side, so I just put the non-drive side cup in first then the drive side, took a bit of playing about with to get the correct amount of threads in and tightness but I got there in the end and it works great.

  6. I had this problem too, I just screwed them in as far as they would go, measured how much was still sticking out, then used a hack saw to trim the amount I had measured off of the end, then de-burred the end down with a file so it would screw into the thread smoothly. Just take little bits off at a time until you have the desired length. (Y)

  7. I've got some V!Z Pro 720's on my mod and they seem to be ticking all the boxes, love the feel of them and they are as light as a feather, well nearly (Y), however they are quite pricey, I've also used the TrialTech bars and they feel really good too and they're not as expensive as the V!Z ones.

  8. Well done mate, keep it up. Seeing it's an un-named rim it’s probably a good idea not to grind it (Y), I hate slippy pedals; you just end up with tonnes of holes in your shins. As for the BB5, I've only ever heard good things about them, a lot cheaper than a hydraulic brake too, I'm thinking about getting one for my stock that I'm currently building.

  9. I'm not sure, if Tarty only have them with aluminium backings then I'm guessing that’s the only way they come. Also I grinded my rim the other day to make my brake perform better and I'm very pleased with the outcome, by far the best brake set up I have had on the back, so if you do get yellows I suggest putting a medium grind on your rim. Just need to practise mate, takes a while to get the hang of but once you have you'll be trying all sorts.

  10. Glad to see you finally got a bike mate!! Looks pretty good too (Y). Talking about pads, I recently bought myself some Heatsink yellows (plastic backings) for my rear Maggie, I previously had green Neon pads (for smooth rims) and they worked well but only when freshly clean, anyway, I fitted my heatsinks the other day and so far I can’t fault them, I haven’t got around to grinding the rim yet but they hold brilliant at the moment so I might leave it smooth for a while.
