  1. New rims best, it could be welded but to be honest once you start welding rims they are never the same. I feel the welding would twist the wheel so it would have to trued up so it starts out as a cheap fix then costs more than a new rim.
  2. Thanks Sent a mail to Shadow in the US and UK US tell me not Shadow, seller has offered to take them back and refund. You can tell by the finish they are nothing special shadow in UK agrees but asked for drop out pics too
  3. Our son has bought some forks from Ebay, bloke sold them as Shadow Conspiracy, only marks are this logo? So have we been ripped? Any one recognise the logo?
  4. Bought our son a Almost mint Onza Bird, Cable operated brakes, disc front norman V brake rear. Wouldnt let him ride it until today as its for christmas. I bought my self an old Onza T Bird, Magrura rear with Tectro front V brake, he has had a couple of goes of mine and has done well. He dosnt like the ride of the bird and says the brakes arnt as sharp as my old T bird. Any ideas is it us or is this lesser spec older bike better for him, is his instinct right? Hes a BMX rider
  5. Might be best letting a shop remove it unless you are confident as it would be a shame to damage anything. I have a few special tools for removing stuff like this but I often have to do it. If you just have basic stuff hacksaw a slot in the top of it and unscrew with a screw driver
  6. Post a Youtube video of the problems with your wheel as it may just be bearings, easy to fix once you know how, cheap too
  7. Just been back to my local coaters, now charges £40 for a bike frame and forks, local back street place charges £25, this includes all prepwork. I can have a spray can mixed for £8 and they havent been too bad but not as good as powder, but the next one in the pipe line is going to have Vynal wrap on the straight tubes and paint on everything else, so watch this space.
  8. I would try who ever imports / makes the product. I use a lady on Ebay who makes me two for a bike for £2.50. to our own design
  9. Just have a go Have you seen this? http://www.shelter-systems.com/wooden-bike-plans.html Now people will take the piss but its a start, it will teach you something. Then get your self off to the tip and get a few frames, cut them up and find some one to weld them together for you. Hang on this could be a comp, who can make the best wooden trails bike, hang on off to the shed.
  10. I was lucky I served a formal apprenticeship and the company made you learn every trade, so I have to learm Fabrication and welding, electrical, pipe work, turning and milling etc, this was a gift as now I can still do most things, many younger trades men cant even weld. The Carbon tubed frame is very nice but I do wonder about the cost LOL, not only materials but the time etc.
  11. Now thats some good advice. I spent two years a good few years ago working repairing mainly wheel building and bike frame painting equipment. The big manufacturers just buy all the components from India and China and eithe have them assembled in the UK or built in China/India But I have to admire your ideas, give it a go you have noting to loose. This company supply most of the frame building stuff and its not expensive http://www.shuztung.com/new/web_c/html/02_products/en/products.html Cant remember the Indian one I just googles these http://www.ceeway.com/custom_uk_bicycle_framebuilders.htm Find one near by and see if you can go along. I dont know of any large volume frame builders in the UK. Just noticed you are in Nottingham, have Raligh shut the nottingham factory? Ask around as some of the old staff may be willing to help you out. Just because you are 16 and to some people may not have a clue if you are keen to learn and will listen to peoples advice they you can achieve it. As for making a living at it this is very hard. Most people see this as a hobby and run a bike shop for the income and make the odd frame. I was very interested in HI FI and had designed some speakers that worked very well, but once you start manufacturing them on a large or small scale you open a can of worms. If dealer a takes all you can make say 3 a month, dealer B who has seen good reviews of your product wants some, as he cant get any he may well rubbish your product as he cant have them. So people stop buyig from dealer A and you go bust throug no fault of your own and with a good product. I would give it a go as a hobbie and see what happens
  12. No why bother, just learn like you will live forever and live like you die tomorrow
  13. You should ask the wife about the time I went to the shop for a bottle of Vodka and came back with an old Volvo estate Lads just came home and over the moon with the BMX, It has all the bits he looks for so my gut instinct was right LOL
  14. Took a punt on a BMX today, our resident BMX expert is off school and at his mates house. WE advertised wanting a Trails bike, some one replied to an old ad and offered me a BMX as its round the corner I went and made an offer based on the engineering looking good and it having good grips and pedals. So whats the frame? Only markings are in the picture
