  1. I'm here in the states, and like these guys say there's some nice parts but the frame is a bit older geometry.

What you other guys maybe don't know is 1gbp (1 quid?) is about 1.61 us dollars currently (two or three weeks ago actually made a purchase from tartybikes) so his $625usd is about 390gbp.

And the hubs new are almost that...

I think it sounds like a decent deal. And I payed more for my first trials bike.

  2. Echo that came on a used bike still going strong, outlived the tr cranks it was on.

Running a Jitsie on my new onza for just over 6 months. It's great- I did bed it in like instructed, without penetrating oil- but every few months it gets sticky or doesn't freewheel easily but a little penetrating oil (wd40) quickly fixes it.

As a comparison the echo freewheels with almost zero resistance where the jitsie does "drag" a tiny bit. Jitsie is also very loud which I find confidence inspiring.

I did damage an eno freewheel that I got used- terrible noises and regular skipps.

  3. Any bike could be a good bike! I'm also in the US and honestly TartyBikes (in the UK) is still your best bet for $ by using their bike builder on their website (I'll post a link tomorrow if you need, its bedtime...) coincidence has it also best range of choices.

And to start if I were you I'd go on the "last years" model or whatever just because the difference will be feel more than performance and help keep the build in budget.

  4. I Do use sime... but I live in the desert and more than half of the plant life has flat tire potential. AND tire pinch flats if pressure is too low... (although still no pinch with my der Kaiser) so slime helps with all the small punctures that happen whenever you leave the concrete. And I do ride a lot of concrete haha. And regular tubes, I found that heavy duty/DH tubes are more problems than gain (only on my trials bikes- they seem to need a bit higher pressure to stretch out and keep the tire on the rim) and no match for the thorns of the area so are a waste of weight.

  5. Pros and cons to both 20 and 26 kinda balances out... I've been led to understand that 24 is a bit of best-of-both-worlds. Being in the average/shorter range a 24 might well be perfect for you. My vote is always go for what looks fun. It won't last forever, then you can try something else if you want.

  6. I've also heard those complaints too, but 5 months now on my '14s and no need to bleed yet - they feel awesome (built and bled by tartybikes before they shipped to me with complete bike) and between the "reach" and "pad wear" adjusters you can achieve whatever "feel" you want.

  7. Sorry I'm such a dick... I've been stuck on things like that too (not Yet on bike cranks though thank god)

And to get back on topic- my limey 4 with trialtech Isis cranks doesn't look to have anything covering the BB axle... only an obervation but maybe spacers are just for looks?
