  1. My leg injuries were two broken fibulas at the ankle from severly twisting the foot outward and long ago I broke my left tibia and fibula basically folding my left lower leg in half. All were MX or Hare Scrambles injuries on race motorcycles. The broken tib / fib was a pretty good stuff the front wheel into huge whoop at Southwick. The two broken lower fibs were from being stupid and not riding on the balls of my feet. Caught my toes rounding a rutted berm and bent the foot outward. Niether time involved a crash, with the last time being a Hare Scramble where I looked down, saw the foot was messed up and pointed outward, straigthened it will still riding and managed a podium finish seeing it was the last lap and mybe 4 miles until the finish. All were not fun to heal as we get impatient to ride, and I did on the tib/ fib with a hard cast on. The first broken lower fib I wrote off as a sprained ankle, continued to ride mtb, even ran a bit. Three weeks later I got it x rayed. The second broken lower fib I knew what it was. Went to the docs the next morning and got it tended to. Sadly, they wrapped the soft cast too tight, hindered blood flow and made the injury require a year to heal and probably two to be full strength. MTB wise, one broken rib and a lot of scrapes and bruises. This trials stuff on a real trials bike will be new. No plans for tall stuff and hopefully no injuries. Being old, I am considering riding with my Asterisk Cell motocross knee braces to save my knees. As for yours, keep ice or heat on as needed. Push hard with therapy without being stupid. Unless removed be cautious / aware of the hardware. You may even want the hardware removed to prevent issues later. All the best in your recovery. PK
  2. If so I appologize. Yes I intepreted the wording to mean cool = poser, after his last remark about not buying a higher end machine. If he meant cool = ok, then truly my bad. Either way I am fine with it. Riding should be about having fun, pushing limits to the edge of your comfort zone and hopefully getting better with each ride. I did give the local shop a call and asked to see about changing the order to a Fourplay Pro after finding a small note on the Insprired website that the Fourplay is better than the Skye for taller riders. Also, it mentioned the Fourplay as a more all around machine for different types of riding. Excited to get this and start riding. PK
  3. Cool is the least of it for me, no plans to be riding with others. Granted it is a cool bike, but there is more to it than cool. As for the cost, I'm not one that gets bored and has to have new each year. I'd rather buy good stuff up front if not cost prohibitive and ride it until it's done. Also, cost is a bit relative, I'm older, been married for 30 years and have 3 grandkids. This bike is simply one more way to stay healthy and have fun. I know my limits and the bike is certainly better than I am, so I expect minimal if any frame concerns. Consider too, it may be a dated machine when it happens, but I'm guessing the wild child granddaughter will get it at some point and complete the thrashing. I attached a photo of one bike we ride with our oldest grandaughter. Yes we ride technical singletrack with her on the tag along. This day though was a 35 mile ride, more epic style than singletrack. Hope to ride singles with her also soon, and then maybe she will start riding the tricked out Yamaha PW50 we built. If not her, it will be her younger sister, the wild child. BTW, if you look at the photo, on the opposite shore above Sofia's helmet you can see the 12 foot alligator sunning himself. Not bagging on you, just expressing that there was more to this than it appears. PK
  4. Double dipping this to this topic and another if it does not delete. Sorry, minor problem as a new guy on a new site and sorting out some post details. I too had a lot of questions about Inspired 24's. Wish I had seen this topic or knew where more like it lived. I was undecided between a new FourPlay Pro or the Skye Pro. Could not find any real info describing details about the machines except for the Inspired site tech specs. I ordered a Skye Pro yesterday. None exist locally so it is a crap shot with no test ride.. The post here about the size of the bike vs the rider is my only real concern. I'm 5'10", so I guess we'll see about fit when it arrives. Skill wise I will never use the bike to it's designed potential. As an old guy, I am more interested in using for keeping up better balance and simpler low to the ground stuff, mostly on dirt, so I don't get too busted up. If anyone has a true concern it will be too small for me, please advise and maybe I could have them change the order for the Fourplay Pro. PK
