  1. What I think is weird about the Monty is Gilles...

He said he was running them for 2016, Monty even took his statement about the tires for promotion, and last comp he won on the Stiky Light, he keeps switching tires.

Anyway, it's Gilles, surprised he is still riding a Clean at the moment.

    Thanks for the review!

You are running pretty high pressure! I am 90kg and running 1,5 bar on the Kaiser without issue.

  2. Clamp the tensioner support plate (that attaches to the axle) in a vice and straighten it out a bit. That would pull it away from the spokes quite a bit

My brother did so... the support plate is heat threated and just snapped on both bends, he had to weld it back together haha!

I would suggest to grind the part tha hits the spokes, that's what I did and was good!

Turning the tensioner around won't change anything as it's hitting the spokes, needs to get further from the center of the wheel to get more clearance, not turn around it.

Those tensioner are perfect with hubs that have large spacers on the side like Echo TR, the hubs with flanges close to the dropouts, such as Rockman hubs cause this issue.

  3. With that logic then, a disc brake lever and maggie calipers would give a marked improvement in power?

Are there any closed system disc brake levers that would be suitable for this?

The Racing Line nano and Clean lever are the ridable form of you idea. Using a 13mm piston instead of the 14mm, you get 16% more power. If you go to 9mm instead of 14... huge power but like Ali said, little pad movment and always rubbing, plus so much power rim, frame ALL will bend.

The Racing Line nano already need quite a straight wheel and good set up to have a decent feeling, plus the extra power requires a booster, and you can still feel some flex, can't imagine with 9mm.

BTW, thanks a lot Ali for your input, was planning on trying that at one point, you just confirmed me it's a waste of time :)

  4. I have a friend who was doing drops to flat, landing pretty harshly all the time. Did that one whole summer and he was wondering why he went through his rear rim, cranks and frame....

And he wasn't riding extra light parts.

Well I guess Racing Line will give details about those broke cranks.

And for the # freewheel, sorry we went away with this thread but I don't know has I haven't tried it.

  5. Would love to see a proper street video from him! Such a talented rider

All of the video's he's done seem to be in the same spots, so either there really isn't that much to ride or its just too far between cities down under

That must be what you're looking for, btw there is vol 1,2,3... enjoy!
