Hey guys I get major back pains that only occur after i have been on my bike, the pain is middle back around the spine, i dunno what to do, my options are to take a break from biking because it could be Repetative Strain injury as i ride on my street everyday, my other option is debateable, i could change my technique because im thinking how you backhop could be a major factor, and differant styles could put differant amounts of strain on my back. Any advice or help would be greatly recived. Al

surely if its rotating faster, it will grind the rim more becuase its making more rotations, therefore the blade is hitting it more, doing a better job, with a slower one, you would have to hold it on more. But i may be wrong, correct me if i am Al

ODI ruffians if u wanna ruin your hands, or go for DMR zip grips, they are cheap and are very comfortable from day one Al

Yo mate id advise the Kool stop pads for a smooth rim, i found that with tar they were great. DO not go for Heatsink Blues without a grind, i did that mistake, and have had a shocking brake for bout 3 weeks, only just got a grind 2 days ago, and it feels soo much snappier. You should go for a grind, but if you do, get new pads, cos a pad like Kool stops have a really low wear rate on a grind. Al

Heatsink Blues all the way, although i ran them for a few weeks without a grind, and they we shockingly bad, and even with a grind and the rain comes, mine still go shocking, but they are awesome in the dry. Al

Id advise buying a cheap frame, and buying your own parts, but dont buy top of the range stuff. When i started i bought a mission frame with Hs33's and onza cranks, and this was a great place to start, cos they were better than stock parts u get if u buy whole bikes, though i admit the mission wasnt my fav,i dont think it hit the bank too hard either. Then when u feel you are getting better and the part you have are holding you back, improve them, itstaken me 2 years to get a fully decent bike becuase i have improved it bit by bit. Zoo bars are awesome, my mate has some, he had Onza carbon 30" before and he says the Zoo's are a lot better, plus you can get them in differant colours . Al

04's are much better than 05's in my opinion, mainly because i find there is a better pull on the 04, this could be due to the need to bleed my brake desperatly. Al

you do know that the cream in the egg is nearly all sugar, so imagine if someone ate a giant one!, im thinking death, or serious bowel problems, and it woud cost way too much to produce, and i dont think there would be many customers. sorry to burst your bubble Al

yeah i agree with the helmet, not cool when u crack your head open. apart from that, great pics, looks like a good day of riding, keep up the good work. Al
-
yeah get a refund dude, and i dont see why u cant sell them for as much as u bought em since u didnt use them, or sawp them with someone, or the place u bought them from. just out of curiosity, what forks did you buy? Al

You cant go wrong with KMC generally, because they are predominantly made for BMX's they are very tough, and if tightened, and the pins in tightly then you will never go wrong, are you sure that you are putting the pins in fully, or you should check for stiff links. The mistake i made with my old shimano chain was to never tighten it (pins i mean), it snapped like 3 times, cos i never put the pin in properly, but hey "you learn from your mistakes". Al

i agree with the above ^^, but the other problem with wearing gloves are that they create double the friction, due to the extra surface between your hand and the grip, this means you can say hello to some sore, blistered hands. Al

Finch - Ravenous amazing band, although there popularity doesnt do them justice.

If you dont have a lot of money, go for an Avid V-brake, i have had one for nearly 2 years and its never let me down, although the power has gone down, another plus about V-Brakes are that they are cheap to run, becuase its a cable brake, you need a lever, cable, hosing and the brake itself, and there is no future phaffing around with bleeding, all you do is change the pad. If you have a little bit more money go for an avid Mechanical Disc, they are cable aswell so no need to worry about bleeding them, they are easy to set up and offer great power and modulation, aslo the rotor that comes with it looks ace. What Cassette Shall I Run On A Hope Xc Rear Hub?
Alastair replied to steve-o1986's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
i run Gusset single speed kit on the back on my XC, i find its very good in the way it has never let me down so far, although if you run this, make sure you get a bigger chain, i ran a shimano on it for 2 months and it constantly skipped, which caused many injuries, but then when i bought a KMC 1/8 it was fine, and ran as smooth as i would have dreamed, this is compared to the skipping before. The disadvantages of the gusset single speed kit is: price - £18 is abit much, it can be very hard to fit and to get off. -
Well if you want quality the go for the Hope Mono Trials disc, thats around £137 for 180mm and the 160mm is £127 im not quite sure, but the problem with these discs are that they are great to start off with, but then gradually loose there power and need re-bleeding, or new pads put in, which can be a fiddle. Hope Mono 180mm But i personally prefer the Avid disc brake, its much cheaper than the Mono, is a cable brake so you never need to worry about bleeding, also i think they look alot better Avid Mechanical Disc the only problem is that you need to buy a cable and a lever, and depending on the quality you want, it can be costly Hope this helps Al
