  1. It was a good comp, I was a bit unfit due to not riding much before hand as I had broken my toe :(

Wasnt doing too well in the day and then I managed to get my foot stuck in an akward position and it put my toe in a lot of pain so had to retire, shame really as it was a really challenging trial.

Thanks to everyone at EBTC cant wait for the new year, aim to do a bit better next time round.

  2. One thing I will say is, a lot of riders are doing fraken brakes.

One mate has a Shimano deore lever, with a magura marta caliper and some random hope rotor, solid as. Another has a hayes caliper with the deore lever again and an avid rotor, immense for downhill too.

Might be worth mixing and matching some mineral oil brakes togther to see what you can make up for cheap.

  3. Looks damn good, will be interesting to see if it appears in the UK, also what the weight/strength of the components are.

The other frames look like an 04 Pure with an internal headtube and the infamous PX Zedbi/Coust/Zoo dropouts that have become very popular.

  4. The Avid BB7 is good with a decent lever like a Shimano XT or an Avid SD7, something along those lines, keep the cable lubed and in good condition and it will not fail you :P

I personally run a Hope because I like the feel of the hydro system, also I find it has a bit more modulation which can help at times and it holds as well if not better.

  5. Right, I have had my mono trial since the new year, it started out very good very powerful, then bent the rotor so I changed it, got another hope rotor, this didnt seem as powerful so I bled it to see if it helped, still the same, was not really holding properly and the lever travel was insane. I then thought I would buy a new rotor as I bent this one too, got the V!Z rotor as it was the only 180mm rotor in stock and some new pads, even after 2 weeks it was still bad, so I took out the pads, lightly sanded them with some very fine sand paper, put it all back together. Still not holding properly.

I cannot think what else to do, its just not locking properly and the lever travels quite a bit still, I have notice there is some black grime around the caliper which I was assuming was water + dust/pad wear etc, I have cleaned this off as best I could so far, but before putting it all back together and bleeding it has anyone else had this problem and how did they sort it out?

  6. All I will say is, IF they use the BT lines you had better be close to the exchange otherwise your "8mb broadband" will be about 1mb as my friend found out, it even says somewhere in the smallprint "Speeds advertised at maximum, it depends on your area as to which speed you will recieve".

I personally would go with Virgin, as they use fibre optics and its just fantastic, full speed all the time, it has a 50:1 connection ratio but I have never had any problems, my 4mb line is always 4mb and will constantly download at 480kbps or faster from a good server. Customer service is really good and if you burn out a modem or two, they will replace it, and my friend burnt out 3 due to a Virgin fault, the knocked £10 off their billl for life because of the hassle of 3 engineers. Problem was the exchange is right outside his house and too much power was going through the cable. Top notch.

  7. You will need to phone Dave Bradley, oh which you can get his number on the website.

You will need an ACU license as well which Dave should be able to sort you out with. I think this might be a little bit TOO short notice but I am sure he will do his best to get you in.

Good luck and see you there sunday.

  8. I used one the other day, hated it, damn thing, was on the phone, it touched my cheek and it hung up, I am pretty sure that somehow my cheek managed to end the phone call.

Too expensive and techy for a phone, I need it to phone and text, occasionally browse the web, but very occasionally. I shall not be getting one.

  9. We used to have about 6/7 riders who would come out, now its about er 1, which is me lol, sometimes 2 when my mate is back.

Would be interesting if there was a way of collecting stats every 3 months on how many riders there were in each county, shame its a pain to do it as not everyone will be using tf.

  10. Mines fine, I swear half the people who have used them dont know how to actually set up brakes properly.

Mine is bled with with and until the other week was fine, then it went slightly sponey because it had somehow got air into it, rebleed its fine, none of this weird spinning around the bolt stuff of munching tpas.

They are fine so long as you can actually look after bikes, simiarl to kings you need to service them.

  11. If I am asked to move on, then I do so. Whilst I am moving though, if there is a sarky comment or even just a word, usually me and my mates, will then put bags down quite roughly to prove a point and make sure we get in the way, anything more said then the insulting begins.

We were riding in a relatively quiet area of town, some little girls started bithcing, they were about 15/16 usual shit etc, then some faggot who we all know as "gay tom" comes over, starts giving us some shti because of what was goign on, he sat in the way, so as usual we carry on riding. Then we stopped for a drink and the p**** comes over and starts kicking my mates bike, bent his disc rotor as well which made a horrible noise.

At this point we left, we came accross some coppers who had actually seen the whole thing on CCTV, apparantly this guy causes a lot of trouble and we were told, by coppers, if he gives you any hassle hit it.

After moving on, about an hour later we went to pizza hut which was opposite the area we were before, to our disbelief the old c*** comes over with his possy of 15/16 year olds, starts giving us some shit, so my mate had enough, whacked him one, knocked him out and left him on the floor, the girls then left appropriately tails between there legs, nothgin more was said and the coppers turned a blind eye as they saw it all happen. Mainly because we had seen these coppers a lot and they know our situation with the council turning down plans for a trials park and the insurance issue with the skate park, so they are generally ok and just say "can you come back later its a little busy now" and we oblige no problems.

At times you need to move on, othertimes you have to stand up for your right of freedom. Generally I do not get too many problems as I tend to ridein the evening so I can get to all the best spots without hassle.
