  1. risk it for a biscuit and.... no i dont want to fit "stunt pegs" to it
  2. yea so, i have an onza tvee (20inch rear wheel) and im aware that most mod bikes have 19inch rear wheels. therefore do i have any tyre or wheel upgrade options? maxxis creepy crawlers have a 19inch rear as do most other tyres i can find, so wouldnt fit my rear wheel. what trials tyres do have a 20in rear that i could fit? help would be much appreciated
  3. My lack of historical knowledge may hinder the accuracy of this post, but here goes.... Right, fair few years ago, some world war or sumthin, motorbike messengers had to cross battlefields, and so practiced riding their bike over different difficult terrain. This then became a seperate past time and then an offical sport. Then, in the motorbike trials off season, and to teach their kids some skills, these trials riders began practising on pushbikes, soon, 20in bikes evolved and then a while after that Mr Rey began it on proper mountain bikes.
  4. So then, what innovative bike product could you not live without? What is it about ur bike that really puts a kick in ur pedal? And what really pisses you off? What little bit of mechanical rubbish would you LOVE someone to come up with a decent alternative to? Or at least, would you love to be able to afford to get rid of it off ur bike. Me, i hate hub cones, sumthin about the wee bastards just makes me boil inside! lol
  5. If you're gonna spend that amount on any sort of money on cranks, buy saints, i have them on my freeride hardtail, and after breakin shitload of ISIS bbs, i can say, these are damn good, really really stiff and mega solid (well they are actually hollow, but u kno what i mean) and the big hole u can see through the axle never fails to amuse me.
  6. i think that the disliking of certain trends - all the anti chav/ anti emo stuff is as much of a trend itself. I say, to each their own, as long as my onza stays in my possession I think that people should be defined by who they are, not what they do or wear. Theres a big difference between dressing in a stereotypical "chav" way and behaving in a stereotypical "chav" way, i reckon there are as many "metallers", "emos", "rockers", "punks", "jocks" who all behave in the same way, but are just dressed differently. This is by no means a generalisation of the above trends, im just pointing out we cant assume how people will behave, based on evidence of how they dress.
  7. Haha, we have plenty of the "smack you in the face" kind too, in fact, its what Belfast (i live bout 15 mins drive away) is best renowned for. Bout 50% of the place i daren't go into, absolutely full of scummy wee shits, although i've only been mugged once, and they only got 7 quid off me lol although i know of plenty of people who have had bikes nicked, arms, jaws, legs broken etc etc - one guy who i went to primary school with was stabbed to death one night in the summer last year, he wasn't on a bike, but still reflects the level of scumbags(proper "chavs") over here.
  8. Problem with the internet, is that its hard to detect sarcasm.... lol
  9. Over here in northern ireland, we tend to call chavs "spides" or "steeks" - dont ask me where those names come from, haven't a baldy, and they dont tend to ride trials, all of em are nearly always on shit ass bmxs with detanglers so that they can ride around with their handlebars bakwards blissfully unaware lol. Or on barracuda full suspensions, with things like "swingarm" printed on the swingarm in big neon lettering! I don't really mind these lil buggers, as long as they dont start givin off, actin the hard lad and all that, or g on bout gettin their dad on you lol. Most of them are alright - "aw mate, do that there stunt again", "can u fit stunt pegs on that there?" , "do a skid" or "where's ur seat" tend to be the height of conversations i have with them though. (just never agree to give em a go on ur bike - be gone in two seconds, and sold to buy sum lovely little pills)
  10. surely if it was from spankin the monkey, my left hand wudnt be injured too.... lol
  11. i rekon what you granny had was where it fully locks and wont go out, whereas mine is only temporary - as i straighten the finger, it stops at a point, then i apply more force, and then it straightens. i dunno, scew this, im taking up football (joke)
  12. New house Gazing out living room window Some dude in his twenties rides past on what i thought was a bmx with silly handlebars Stops at the end of the road and hops onto the curb, hops abut a bit more, then sidehops over a fence "Holy shit" thinks me "Gotta try some of that" So after breaking two mountain bike frames with hydraulic disc brakes, finally get myself a Tvee And there you have it, im now an addict, with messed up fingers (see my post on trigger finger) cut up shins, and brain that cant look at ANYTHING without picturing hopping on, over or along it, (you should see how pissd my gf gets when she looks at me and KNOWS im mentally pedal kicking across and up her cleavage).......
  13. yea it aint painful yet, just bloody annoyin in the mornins you kno, and dont want it to get any more serious (like a permanently locked finger...although at least id have an amazin grip on the bars! lol) pretty sure its related to my dramatic summer increase in trials riding, found another local rider you see, so been riding a lot recently, off to see the doctor soon though, get him to prescribe me some sorta anti inflammatory thingy or sumthin. and T-BAD, how long did yours do it for?
  14. well, looks like iv got a condition called, in laymans terms, "trigger finger" - basically, when i wake up in the mornings,i have difficulty straightening my little finger on my right hand and a couple on the left. Think i might have to cut back on the trials for a bit. Any of you other guys ever had this? More info on it on here http://www.eatonhand.com/hw/hw022.htm Says it can be caused by activities which involve a lot of constant gripping - sounds just like trials to me! (or....self-love, but we'll not go into that, and besides, im right handed, joke!!! lol)
  15. Yea, i agree, Onza Tvee is an excellent beginners bike, im still what you would call a beginner (although, hans rey had better watch out cos i hopped onto a 16 inch wall yesterday ) and im still loving the bike. And its cheap as chips too! Just keep and eye on the headset needs tightening up every now and then (loosen stem bolts, tighten the bolt on the top cap), and dont have too much faith in the brakes, as they'll take you by surprise, slip out and send you right onto your ass! (yes i may have done that off a foot high-ledge, but we all gotta start somewhere!)
  16. I've started on a tvee and am loving it, i know it has relatively crap brakes, parts, frames probably not the best, and the pedals mite as well be made of greasy ice But all that aside, i still LOVE riding it!!! If u do get one, keep an eye on the internal headset though, seems to need tightenin up pretty often, and seriously buy new pedals, as ur feet jus seem to float right off them, but thanks to the lack of grippy bits on them, they dont do anywher near as much shin damage as my outland magnesiums on my mountainbike! Whatever bike you decide to start on, once u learn the basics, you wont look back, ur back, hands (thanks to naff grips), shins, and other assorted damagable parts may disagree though!
  17. cheers for the tips guys, i can stay on the back wheel well enough now, i suppose i just need to keep practicing, and before you know it, i'll be the next ryan leech (doubt he rode a tvee though! lol)
  18. Right, i can hop about easy enough on the back wheel, and hop up small ledges, curbs etc on the back wheel, but my problem is, the way i get up onto the back wheel. To do so, i either do a small endo, then rock back, or jus lock both brakes and pull up - both these seem to work, but often leave me a bit far away from the obstacle. but if i try to start with both wheels on the ground, then kick forward on the pedals, land on the back wheel and pull the back brake, as soon as i pull the brake, the front end drops back down again. any tips? would be much appreciated
