  1. Slightly miffed at the moment.

Just popped a new front tyre on my bike and went for a little play in the street. Nothing serious just checking if everything was in order.

Went to hop to a curb and my bike flew from under me leaving me on my backside slightly dazed with my bars in my hands my bike 6ft away

Turns out my steerer tube snapped just below the stem whilst snapping my hope hose and ripping out my maggy hose.

As usual it couldn't have been worse timing as round one of the south west comp is on monday!!

So its a set of stupidly heavy t-pro forks, an old maggy on single wall koxx rim!!

    Not good...

  2. went to log on to my computer last nite after my brother had been on it and norton came up with a high risk virus alert!!!

i am running norton internet security 2005 and i update all my virus definitions every day just to be on the safe side, everything is running and i am using it as my firewall.

    The virus name is :Trojan.Vundo.B

And it is a hidden file in: C:\WINDOWS\Drivers\Motorola\faxmp3.dll

Thing is i never installed any motorola based programmes.

I have tried removing the file and fixing it, puttin it into quarantene and it wont let me, i guessed it was being used by windows so rebooted the computer in safe mode.

When te computer is all boted up it comes up with safe mode in all four corners but none of the icons or start menu are displayed.

So i tried ctrl+alt+del and then runt task but norton doesnt seem to want to run ti just takes ages and then comes up with an error report.

I have also tried to do a system restore but id didnt work, so i then tried to do one to an earlier that but i have none saved as i had to turn off system restore for norton to work.

Any other ideas on how to fix my problem apart from formatting my hardrive and starting fron the begining??

Oh my operating system is xp home and it is an e macines computer. only 3 months old!!!

    Many thanks

  3. I bought my frame off him, about a year ago. After sorting out payment etc and finalising the deal i sent him the money via cheque.

He reciaved it and suddeny dissapeared. even after many e-mails and pm's he did not reply. I checked and the cheque had cleared into his account.

I was really annoyed and sent him some rather nasty e-mails.

I had been wating for about a month and was going to travvel up to his house to get my frame/or money.

But the next day my frame arrived.

SO overall i would think he is a very dodgy guy and took 5 weeks for him to send my frame from the date the cheque cleared but i got it in the end.

supprise the git by turning up on his doorstep.

    good luck

  4. sound like a really good idea.

Definitely do two separate topics.i.e. one england, one france.

newquay is awesome in the summer, with loads of campsites.

If this all goes ahead than i am definitely up for the england roadtrip.

plymouth should be added to the list for a ride.

    cheers

  5. people who dont drive wont have realised that certain roads feel slower than others.

For example: driving through a narrow street with cars parked either side at 20mph will seem fast but 20 on a completely open road no parked cars will seem like you are at a standstill.

Certain road make you drive faster, it is psycological.

I am learning to drive and on the open roads i find myself slipping into the 40's occasionally.

Joe probably didnt know he was that much over the speed limit, as he says it was an open road. ok there is no real excuse for excessive speeding but what is safer traveling at what seems 30 mph (actually more like 35-40)and paying attention to the road or pottering along with your eyes glued to the speedo.

sucks you got caught, atleast now you wil be slowing down as soojn as you catch a glympse of a white or silver van/estate lol.

  6. he he.

Yeah man was actually quite fun. well it always is when it isnt your own bike. lol

Just to add, the rim was unreparable, huge highspot and mega buckle so we decided to test it to its limits. the rim stood 30 minutes of battering from prawn and myself and only then did it crack at the joint. quite impressive.

    cheers

  7. Rite.

First thing that came to mind when you said black smoke was piston rings. but you say that when you rev it, it smokes and then clears. so it may not be this.

Another that came to mind are the stem seals in your cylinder head are worn which is allowing oil into the chambers and burning on the intake. this isnt a major problem but you may not pass your mot on emmisions etc. if it is stem seals i would estimate £50-75 to get it fixed depending on where you go, obviously you should install a new head gasket at this point aswell. as for your tuning problem i am not to sure on what you should do. i would just take it to the mot station and let thyem have a twiddle. oh and you should tune your car with the filter onas the difference is noticable and it is all to do with air/fuel mixtures. you will be overfuelling if you tune it without the filter and then put it on because you are restricting the ar flow hence the air/fuel mixture will be too rich.

    hope this helps

    cheers

  8. hey

As i said in my post he is building a custom frame around the wheel so the brakes will be fine to set up. crossovers are not a problem as you can make them longer.

I am not quite sure of the point but i can say one thing for sure it is different.lol

    cheers

  9. Something i thought i should share.

    Pete Wright's new rear wheel.

This is taking wide rims to the next level!!

Surly large marge rim drilled by bigman.

    Profile 6 speed hub (32h)

    Maxxis 2.7" highroller.

He brought it round mine earlier and it isnt offensively heavy.

Good job he is building a custom frame as there isnt much chance in fitting one of these in a conventional trials frame withoug running disk.

  10. hey guys.

Prawn knows too much about mini's i rebuilt his mini with him. we were like a little team. Me the bodywork side, Prawn the mechanical.

Brisa, your best bet is to get something in kit form

Hi-lo's so you can alter the ride hight of your car, a set of lowered shock absorbers (front and rear) GAZ shocks are highly recomended. and a full negative camber kit with polyurethane bushes. This is a pretty faultless combination and will make your alreaddy well handling mini stick to the road like it was on tracks.

The best people to contact is m.e.d engineering as they do this kit complete for £350 and they are renowned for top quality products.

    m.e.d engineering

The kit isnt available online but the number is there so give them a ring and talk it through with them.

    God i love the mini!!

Let us know your budget because there are cheaper options out there.

Yeah i did it all myself but i have experience spraying cars etc i worked in a classic car garage for about 6 months.

I am not happy with the finish though so in a few weeks i will be stripping it back down and respraying it again and making some custom stickers.
