Thinking logically if you had horizontal dropouts then moving the rear axle will give you an idea of a smaller rear sprocket. Move it towards the pedals for a smaller sprocket feel and away for a larger feel.
RichĀ
This would change the chainstay length but have absolutely no effect on the gear ratio. Different length cranks can change the way your gearing feels, but not different chainstay lengths.Ā
ĀI suppose it would depend what type of riding you normally do? I like a lighter gear for the more traditional trials stuff, but a slightly higher one for more rolling/street stuff.Ā

Ah that looks super nice! And if you canāt be bothered doing another lever, the front lever upside down is more than acceptedĀ in the world of trials hahaĀ

Seems your riding looks good on any bike. Nice to see some taps!Ā

The older BB7s are silver and the newer ones are a darker colour. Iāve had both and the older ones feel a lot more solid. The newer ones seem to flex quite a bit. The mtb and road versions pull a different amount of cable, so definitely go for the mtb version. Iād get the older silver ones if you can get hold of them!

Always enjoyed Stanās style of riding. Birchwood Business Park is my local spot, Iām there nearly every week. Itās good to see a video of all the lines Iāll never be able to do...Ā

It does have the three seat post tubes, just one is on-line with the chainstay and the other is in-line with the forward most tube (angle of the photo couldnāt have hidden them any better!)
Ā Iām agreeing with either a Zoot or T Rex
Bloody hell, youāre right! Took a while to make my eyes see it haha. Yeah Iām saying itās a T Rex as well then...Ā

Just stumbled across this post whilst looking for a Judge trials build...I wanted to see what the bike looked like and to see what people's thoughts were.
Ā
Did you ride it? How was it?
Just replied to your other post before I saw this. Yeah itās a fun bike to play around on, but super short. The frame has been retired to the loft again though Iām afraid, and replaced with a Planet X Zebdi frame. Hereās a photo of what it looked like before the swap thoughĀ

I donāt think itās a T-Rex or the original Zoot as it just has one āseat tubeā and they had a funny configuration of three. Also donāt think they had a cut out on the headtube. No idea what it actually is though sorry...
Looks like a 26ā frame, with a low bottom bracket. Iād say this would be better than an Identiti Judge though, especially at your height. Iāve got one of those frames in the loft and itās super short for me - Iām only around 6ā2ā

Is the wheel definitely straight in the dropouts? I feel like there should be enough space for those tyres. Should be able to help a bit more if you can post some photos?

Love it! I feel like the bars should be rolled back a fair bit though to make it truly authentic...

Switzerland squeaker gap at 0:33! Loved the videoĀ as alwaysĀ

Love it! Think you could probably take a couple of links out of that chain though?

Loved everything about this. Always enjoy your videos, and this one was no different!Ā

Yeah itās the ācrown raceā and it usually takes a bit of a whack to get seated properly. The tool for fitting them is like a big metal pipe that slides over your steerer and you just basically bash it on...
Any pipe that just fits over the steerer tube would do the trickĀ

I think the correspondence between crank length and your height isnātĀ quite as important in trials as youāre not sat down pedalling as you would on a normal bike. I think a lot of people go for the longer cranks for a bit of extra leverage to get more power down on the trials movesĀ

Really enjoyed this. Liked the music too!

Forgot about them!

The fitting for the bashguard was specific to those cranks, so you would have to replace it with another middleburn bash. There was the pro trials one for 22t chainrings or a smaller 16t one with a built in chainring. If the current bash is loose though it might just need the lockring tightening. It needs an old shimanoĀ bb tool for the lockring, like this:Ā https://www.wiggle.co.uk/park-tool-compact-bottom-bracket-tool-bbt-18/?lang=en&curr=GBP&dest=1&sku=54956&kpid=54956&utm_source=google&utm_term=&utm_campaign=Shopping+-+All+Products&utm_medium=base&utm_content=mckv|sdykBgmkb_dm|mcrid|295296961877|mkw||mmt||mrd|54956uk|mslid||&mkwid=sdykBgmkb_dm&pcrid=295296961877&prd=54956uk&pgrid=57437518777&ptaid=pla-523618151708&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7ovil7Tg6QIVS7TtCh0dPQadEAQYCiABEgIdK_D_BwE

I think the washers would go on the outside of the frame. Without the snail camĀ the axle would poke through the dropout more, so the bolt would bottom out before tightening against the frameĀ

Another vote for trialtech. Made such a difference to how well my brakes locked up!Ā
