  2. guestimate; i've only heard engineers and mathmaticians say that word when theyre trying to make their guess sound scientific!
  3. description's pretty self explanatory, i keep seeing people saying(/typing!) 'bump' all around this forum but what does it mean?! dan
  4. i had that problem on my old specialized hardrock when i had the cranks replaced after a car accident. i took it back to the guy at the bike shop who made the repairs and he said i should expect that :) i sorted out the problem by buying a new bike :D
  5. my mate who does triathlon reckons that if i was to go for a short cage rear deraileur it should be either 105 or ultegra which isnt too expensive but still ranks kind of high in the shimano range. but i've got an 8 speed cassette as well and when i went to my bike shop the best they could do were 10 speed ultegra deraileurs :)
  6. i thought v8's did had replaceable pins, because on my Wellgo v8 imitation pedals you can unscrew the pins with a phillips screwdriver. maybe my v8 imitation pedals are better then the real thing! :)
  7. compressed air is probably the best way of getting grips on and off the bars, but i dont have an airline, so for me the best way is useing hairspray. using a small flat head screwdriver, try and force a gap between the bars and grips, then spray hairspray into the grips. this worked for me taking the grips off, but i couldnt use the hairspray trick to fix the grips onto my new bars, so i took it to my bike shop and they used their airline to put the grips on (Y)
  8. i'm still debating whether or not to buy a Dirty Habit 'I love townies' t-shirt or not (Y)
  9. so if you work at halfords in coventry at least theres one bike shop near where i live that can help me when i get a problem with my bike! im at warwick uni and got my house in earlsdon. Do you know any good bike shops around coventry then? dan
  10. yeh at my bike shop they use compressed air to slide the grips on without putting anything between the bars and grips. when i got new bars and a stem, i went to the bike shop and got them to put the grips on tight for me cos the hairspray trick didnt work for me (Y)
  11. i've been looking for a shimano xtr booster for ages now. if i cant get hold of one i think ill settle for a salsa booster, although i can only find them on american websites.
  12. i tried using hairspray for my grips but it didnt work. maybe i had the wrong brand of hairspray or something...
  13. where can you buy it from? i havn't found it on the internet yet and my bike shop can't get hold of it (Y)
