i love doing picnic benches, because theres lots u can try, specially if you're just starting out. good fun if theres a bunch of them too, theyre fun to gap. its not technically that hard but its good practice and it looks impressive if you've never seen the sport before..... kage

i reckon you could get away with keeping your cassette and mech but make it 22t up front. that means u can still have a half decent gearing for off roading.

Last night I had possibly the cerraziest dream i've ever had, here it is: I was riding home from somewhere and i noticed some randoms wearing like, knights helmets and shoddy macs and robes and weird stuff, now in my dream they were like pikeys and that made total sense to me at that point.... Then i remember trying to avoid 2 youngish pikeys that were twins after hearing weird stories (some of which i know are sorta real) about how they get away with anything and there aint a lot the police can do.... But they spot me and start yelling stuff in that weird not quite irish accent so i just ignore it but, obviously, they start following. So i ride faster. and they run faster. and for some reason they can run INCRRRREDIBLY fast. But hurrah! i'm coming to a rather steep hill (btw its like a residential sorta area) so i bomb it down and pray to christ that i dont fall off, and of course the magically fast pikeys are catching up... Then i see a woman coming out of her house so i bomb it towards her and plea with her to let me in like a little wuss and she does. I dont know her, but she leaves to do her shopping anyway... So now i'm safe and the turbo-pikeys cant get me. So they start to leave and then i remember my bike is outside!! :P how gash. and they start riding it and f*cking with it so i think "right, i know the police wont do anything and it cost me a fortune so i'm gonna have to go out there" so i creep out the back door and for some reason i'm about to smack one of them when they get bored and push my bike into a ditch. rubbish. but i fish it back out and creep back to this womans house. Right. This is where it gets really weird. At this point i THINK i've woken up. And obviously i'm thinking "what a strange dream" so i try to turn the lights on to get my bearings but theyre not working. for some reason the TV is though so i turn that on to get some light and i realise my bike's gone (yes, i actually keep it in my room so it doesnt get nicked, btw my room is a converted garage...) And then i twig that the lights dont work but everything else does.... OBVIOUSLY ITS SABOTAGE! and i notice summat outside... thinking its incredibly fast pikeys i scramble to my door to lock it and then back off (remember at this point i actually think i'm awake) But the pikeys crash through the window!!! only its not pikeys, its those weird mutated army agents from the later levels of ninja gaiden. RIIIGGGHHHTTTT. theres lots so i'm grabbing everything i can to throw at them, namely plates and bowls for some reason... until i reason that i do actually have a rather handy sword sitting on top of my desk so i grab that and start slicing away at the inconsiderate twats. Yes i still think i'm awake... Now i cant remember exactly what happens after this, but the next thing i know i'm in a bike shop getting repairs done after i fish it out of that ditch. Oh thats not too bad, just need a new rear mech, needed an upgrade anyway... This is where the real nightmare begins.... £16000?!?! And if i cant pay you'll take my bike away?!?! NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! true story. Kage

hahaha i got a funny story about a moth for those who hate the little f*ckers: I just got out of a nice hot shower a few months back, and had the window open to let out some of the steam and while i was drying off one of those huge b*****d moths came in the window, like the baby bird sized mofos, and flew straight at my face at about warp 10, so i panicked and did the only thing i could think off.... try and catch it? oh no. flail wildly even? gettin closer.... I punched the little sh*t in the face. hahahaaaa it was awesome i didnt even think about it and before i knew it i had full on knocked out a moth. Then it just twitched on the carpet for a bit, i was scared to touch the little blighter so i dried off and went to find a mug or whatever to pick it up and chuck it out but when i got back to the bathroom it had gone! little p*ssy had run away like a little girl-moth. i ride stock and use DMR moto RTs in 2.4, mostly because i wanted to try summat new but more because i ride street mostly and hate riding in the wet. for dry urban stuff i havent found nowt better

high rollers are super sweet. If you do more urban riding then consider DMR moto RTs, i do more street than anything and go with a set of RTs in 2.4" theyre rawking.

I like the original idea, and the camo idea. so i have a new one. Has anyone seen the new Giro XEN helmets in white camo...??? how about the original design but in camo ie black and white camo. that'd be fookin lush. and then you could buy a helmet to match! whatever you do, keep the halo combats, i swear by them, theyre awesome. if weight aint an issue, then spend a bit more and get the SAS combats, they rock.

Its also the most expensive disc at the moment, not to mention the second heaviest after the gustav. save your money and go for a mono mini, a hayes 9, a julie or a juicy and just get a big rotor. my hayes has more than enough power and I only run a 6" disc, and that cost me half of what a hope 6 does....

if you're after a decent QE then spend a little extra and get a bulb, thats got 36

I rode big in 98 and 99, then left completely and got back into it only a few months ago. It was such a huge change!! i dont think anyone can realise how much trials has changed unless they lose all contact with it for 6 or more years!! Heres my old spec, and i assure u back in the day this would have been considered pretty trials specific.... Marin Eldridge grade frame 13.5" w/kona p2 forks Mavic D521 rims w/LX hubs and Specialised evil twin 2.3" tires (i loved those tires!) Maggie HS33s (obv) FSA sidewinder crankset (i think) w 22t LX cassette 8spd w/ LX r.mech and LX pod shifter Azonic world force bars and Kore stem ( i think it was about 70mm with a big rise) DMR V12s (obv) DMR bashguard Plus some other stuff. I rode that thing very hard and was pretty good with it. but most of the stuff on it was built for XC and DH, we didnt have much trials stuff except bashguards pretty much! Then i rushed back into it without checking out whats changed, hence my new setup lol

they first set of maggies I had back in the day i got from the states and forgot that they have their levers the other (wrong...!) way round, so until i swapped em over i just put the levers on upside down, worked just as well... The Hayes ones i use are universal. They call them "flip-flop" levers. I call that name "gay"

yup they are indeed i got em nearly new for about 100 squid, i dont think i'll ever ride anything else now, theyre perfect, super strong and super light, not to mention super pimp.... and super expensive... (Y)

haha i really have to do summat about this, i feel so old!!! feel the old school!! i've since lost the rear disk due to worrys of breaking myself and replaced it with a maggie

yeh I found the 6-pots to be a little overkill... the mono trials is superb but its a little too "on-off" for me, i like a lot of modulation, so i went with a hayes HFX-9, the levers were the selling point for me, theyre nigh-on perfectly balanced for modulation and power

if you've got the money, a bulb would be awesome, but have you considered summat like a DMR revolver...? theyre pretty bombproof and such good value... I need to get a new wheelbuild because i'm still using stock hubs and spokes on my halo rims. i'm goin for a bulb rear and an XC front.
