  1. removing a broken tap is no problem at all, providing you use the correct equipment, its something i do on a day to day basis.

in your case you need to use a carbide centre drill, followed by a carbide drill bit, preferably a spade drill, you need to run both of these at quite high speed,

once youdrill a gole through the broken bit of tap, it would be possible to shatter the outer parts of the remaining tap and it should fall from the thread,

the other option which you have is to shatter the tap with a good punch and a big hammer.

relatively easy for someone with basic engineering skills, try your local engineering firms, they'l get it out no problem at very little cost.

  2. It's actually a very different caliper to the Mono Trial:

    http://thebloomingpoint.com/files/2009/12/hope-techv2vtd-203mm-Vented-Rotor+Level+Hose.jpg

Post mount and spring return for pads are the main differences. At one point I believe the Moto had the same sized pistons (or might have been 24mm - Mono Trial is 25) but the brakes on the Atomz 20" are definitely not 24mm or above, look more like 20-22.

Shame Hope are going to force us all to use the Moto Caliper for 'trials' brakes in future :(

The new trial brake with post mounts :( will mean using an adapter iso to post .......................................

the new trials brake is also using the lever from the new race brake, couple to a moto calliper,

nothing wrong with the current trial brake imo.

  3. we made one last year, something me owen and wayne had been working on, ive got a 116 spaced fixed rear hope hub on the monty, we also made a baby pro 2, never got round to making any more due to other projects.

    maybe in the future?

  4. something that is in the pipeline............... although the new shells have been better, a few new bearing designs are currently being tested, the main difference is the small end bearings in the ratchet being replaced with needle rollers.

il get some pics this week when im at hope

    regards ashley

  5. so yeah it will never be finished

    dunno why the negativity??????

they are going to make it, more than likely within the next 6 months. the screw on hub from being an idea to being put into the catalogue has taken 7 months. which includes testing and modifications.

i know people were asking the designer about it at the bike show in london recently................ his reply was it is going to be made.

  6. and always will be?

obviously not.................. the screw on hub is in the catalogue for 09...................... there is no set date for the freehub version as there are many other new products for other areas of mountain biking and road cycling on the drawing board, it has been started, there are pictures in this thread..............it will be made..................

  7. i wouldnt use it for trials to be honest, the engagements are weeker because the ratchets arent as deep to save weight for the roadie weight weenies i would just buy a normall proII or the proII trials.

theres no difference what so ever in the ratchets in a rear pro 3 and a rear pro 2, the ratchet rings are all the same!!!!

  8. Lol, someone has finally used my idea.

It means if you sidehop to the other side, you're not going to smash your disc brake.

You can just turn the front wheel round and it works just fine!

Strange how there's only one option though, not for disc mounts on either side.

only ok if your rght foot forward!

no good for me whos left foot forward!

  9. 110 grams, bit light. If your into your taps i'd avoid. Plus they're £50 new anyway.

if your into taps id avoid? why?????? the old lightweight monos were lighter than this and the majority of trials riders used to use them with no problems

  10. Don't think I know what you're getting at... CNCing those completely plain dropouts from billet seems like a silly idea to me. That was all.

think what was meant was why waste all the time cnc milling, when you can simply cnc them on a water jet or lazer? makes sense to me either way, id lazer them if it was my business, cost effectiveness
