  1. To be honest, from past expirience Onza forks are deffinetly the forks you shouldn't be using. Extremely weak forks. Friends dont let friends ride with Onza forks, both my mates have snapped a pair each round the steerer and magura mount. I'd personally go for the Echo lite Forks, which can be purchase from either: www.selectbikes.com www.tartybikes.co.uk These forks have a matt black finish and a strong steer compared to the early Echo forks which were on the market. Also you can get Disk only models or dick and magura. Also have thick steerer tube which is welded to the crown of the fork helps prevent the steerer from bending or snapping, as what earlier models also did. I'd highly recomend these forks especially at a price of £70.
  2. You could knip down to Halfords and purchase some of their "Foam Grips". You get 4 roles which you cut down to size making that 8 grips. £5 you can't go wrong and seem to last a fair amount of time. Also feel really comfy and dont leave your hands feeling scabby.
  3. A good working brake shouldn't need tar or a grind. I have Plazmatic CRM pads set up amazingly on a Echo CNC rim. Water bleed etc. Simply cleaned the rim with "Halfords wheel Acid" Which is a dispensor for brake dust etc, and my brake grabbed amazing also had the most loudest squeek ever. I ground if after that as i was tired of having to clean the rim every week etc. And my brake was amazing, but thats only because i know how to set a brake up perfect.
  4. Its a shame the ACS isn't warranty covered as not being designed for "Trials" they tend to skip alot and eventually the teeth inside wear down. So Shops don't cover them.
  5. The Monty 221 Ti stem is designed to be used with bars with a slight bulge to them E.G. Zoo Bars/Monty Risers etc.. I've had 2 Monty stems and i've used both Monty Risers and the Zoo bars and i can say it is by far the best stem i have ever used. The Price is abit steep at £73 but thats only because it comes fitted with Ti Bolts. These Bolts have there benifits as they will never rust and are farely light, If your into building yourself a light steed. The rise on the stem is perfect, ever when run with Zoo bars, it offers a really nice front end and gives the bike a decent stand over hight. Also the Carbon effect looks pretty cool . Deffinetly recomend this Stem.
  6. I run my tire pressure on the front at around 5psi. Although i have had koxx tires in the past and with so much tread on the front tire id recomend running it at a farely high pressure in contrast to the pressure you would run in the rear. So: 8psi Front 10psi Rear
  7. What rim are you using? If your rim is chrome finished heatsink pads would work best due to there soft compound etc. I dont use a V-brake so im not 100% sure on what works best, however my mate used Spanish Flys on a Sun Rim, with a black sidewall and it gripped amazing, had alot of bite and grab.
  8. If Echo made 36h rims, the 06 Echo rims wouldn't be so weak in the first place. More holes i.e. 36h instead of 32h = smaller drills = thinner rim width = fatter sidewalls.
  9. Monty Bar and Stem is by far the best combination i've come by for a Mod bike set-up. If your after a budget set up which you know you can trust parts wise, deffinetly go for the ZOO bar and Echo Stem (Zoo Stems are no longer made). The rise on the bar is perfect as is the length of the bar for extra control over the bike.
  10. You'd be surprised that Deng is farely young. Those pictures that were posted on the forum a while back wasn't of Deng. Dengs in his 20's. I doubt a 60 year old man could bunny hop 53 inch to backwheel.
  11. 16, Tell your Dad about Martin Ashton and other riders who practically started the whole sport off. They are still riding today and riding well.
  12. I've heard alot of possitivity about the Short GU in contrast with the long version? From both Gaz Meridith and Danny Foster. After having ago on the short Gu it feels well flickable, the high BB isnt really noticable at all, perhaps because it is 60MM BB rise and the Pythons are 55MM makes that 5MM difference hardly anything. It gaps alot easier than any Mod i've ridden, and sidehops especially well, this is probably due to its short chain stays making it flick up alot easier, in comparison to the python which has a longer back end.
  13. If your ACS begins to skip dont try taking it to bits. Normally the ratchets inside wear down abit as there made of a soft cheap metal and its quite hard to tell of any wear at all, so you can barely notice if there is anything wrong or noticable. Because there not designed for "Trials" they do tend to last on average 4-5 months.
