I used http://www.team-mediaportal.com/ a while ago. I thought it was quite good - Until I tried the official MCE, that is, which is just awesome.

There are others that I haven't used:

http://www.mythtv.org/ (linux based)

http://www.gbpvr.com/

You can hack the remote to work with any version of windows, as I pointed out in the other thread. But if you can get hold of XP MCE, I think it's great. P.S. The Vista home versions come with MCE as standard, so if you were thinking of buying a copy, it might be worth getting Vista.

I'm not sure. For that sort of money, it's probably a copy. In which case you might as well just download Vista from torrents or whatever, since that would be equally illegal.

Have you read that link in the other thread I posted about getting the remote working with XP home? I've got XP Pro here so I can get the files and email them to you if you need them? Just tell me what files you need and your email address.

Except its till not recognising the device, perhaps i need to do no 2, as ive doone 3 with no avail:

2. Copy irbus.sys to c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers and c:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386

3. Copy irbus.inf and irbus.pnf to c:\WINDOWS\inf

What is this irbus.sys? I don't have that, where did you get it from?

When you first plugged the remote in, it will have installed some (wrong) stuff. You might have to remove this in device manager.
