It's a Cane Creek unsealed caged bearing headset which is in fact manufactured by TH industries (who make all sorts of MTB stuff). It's not light, not particularly good and cheap. I imagine Koxx, unlike Deng, realise there are plenty of headsets out which are proven, light, well sealed and good value. So they just bung those on their standard bikes. Cos its a trials bike, they;re not always in the muck like XC bikes and they're not exactly heavy. Yes they're made from steel, but they're much less bulky than a lot of others. Andrew the bearings in mine disintergrated, well the bearing cup did, and the barings just fell out over time, but i am a fanny i suppose. Matx Haha, made me laugh! I dont see a problem with them if they are looked after correctly. I used to have a hope headset, but after it seized up i couldnt justify spending that much on a headset! Since the bearing cages don't actually touch anything, I find it hard to believe they would just fall apart... Anyway, the weight is 116g, plus 26g for top cap/star nut/bolt. Pretty good considering Koxx have used them for 7 years and not had one problem to date! yeah i did put it in correctly, i suppose it just got grit in it or whatever, or something leaked inside, i did have it a year before i got rid of it lol. so yeah its pretty good for the money.
